Hearing that Yang Peimin had given birth to a son, Guo Caixia ca back talking about it and was even planning to visit.

Normally, Yang Peimin was quite a good roommate, often bringing fresh snacks over for everyone to try. She was always willing to help out with things, even though so didn’t like her showy ways very much. Nevertheless, when it ca down to these matters, people were still willing to visit her, even the usually distant Zhu Qing agreed to co along.

Ge Sanni thought about the 13 yuan she had spent last ti and felt dreadfully uncomfortable. At the ti, she had thought she had made a good deal, believing she had earned sothing. But now, thinking about it, her monthly living expenses of 10 yuan were already running out, after covering food and daily necessities, and she hardly had anything left. The food consisted of cabbage and potatoes every day, with eggs for a bit of nutrition only once a week; there wasn’t even a piece of at included, and she was barely getting by. Now she had to add a monthly debt of over 4 yuan—what was she going to eat? She might as well drink plain boiled water.

Thinking of this, she was filled with unbearable hatred, feeling as though she had been trapped by Yang Peimin. She had thought Yang Peimin was so generous. It turned out she was thinking about herself, rembering how she had already asked her husband for more money because of nutritional issues, doubtfully her family could spare more.

Seeing that Jiang Xin had already paid off his debt, she gritted her teeth, took her quilt, and begged Jiang Xin to help her out again—to help her repay the debt first, and she promised to pay him back with interest later.

Jiang Xin called her crazy and gave her a harsh scolding.

Yet she was determined to get Jiang Xin to repay part of it for her. Wasn’t she supposed to be the person most willing to help others? Was that all fake when it ca to her? She begged and kowtowed, crying my eyes out, vowing not to get up until she agreed, but she hadn’t expected Jiang Xin to be so heartless, refusing to et her request and even calling others over to laugh at her.

Left with no choice, she secretly exchanged her bridal silver bracelet for money just to pay off Yang Peimin’s debt.

From then on, Yang Peimin and Jiang Xin beca the objects of her deepest resentnt.

Ge Sanni did not want to visit Yang Peimin after the birth of her child, but thinking about her string of misfortunes, she felt a deep sense of dissatisfaction and injustice. Yet deep down, she was keen to look in on her—she secretly hoped Yang Peimin was no better off than herself. Wasn’t she also pregnant while studying, just like herself? Wasn’t she also far from ho when she gave birth? She wanted to see how Yang Peimin was faring during her confinent—was she as generous as she claid to be? Wasn’t she always boasting about her favorable conditions? She wanted to see if Yang Peimin’s actual circumstances were as good as her outer appearances suggested!

With these thoughts, Ge Sanni also said she would visit.

As for the idea of chipping in to buy a gift that everyone was discussing, she said, "Peimin won’t care about such a small amount of money. I was thinking that it’s the thought that counts. I made a pair of little shoes for her son to take over. As for what the rest of you are bringing, I won’t get involved." Whether she actually had the shoes or not, only she knew.

At that ti, everyone was a bit surprised. Given the conflict between Ge Sanni and Yang Peimin, it was thought Ge Sanni wouldn’t go.

Ge Sanni saw everyone’s expressions and laughed, "We’re all roommates, after all; how could I not go? All those past issues are over now. Besides, I don’t think Peimin is the type to hold grudges."

The one who did not go was Jiang Xin, who claid she was feeling unwell and didn’t want to risk passing any illness onto the child. Whether she was truly unwell, only she knew.

But everyone else thought it was normal.

While Ge Sanni was preoccupied with her own issues, Tan Yan started investigating the size and rent of the house Yang Peimin was renting, and Ge Sanni imdiately pricked up her ears to listen.

Guo Caixia was sowhat helpless, but she still said a few words, which they would see for themselves soon anyway, "She rented a standalone yard with a three-story house. It’s quite large. As for the rent, I’m not too sure."

Cheng Aihua didn’t understand, "Why rent such a big place? How much does it cost? It must be expensive, right? Who’s staying there with her?"

"She’s living with her two younger sisters. But the last ti I visited, I also saw the wife of a comrade-in-arms of her husband helping out there. I don’t know if she’s still there."

"That comrade-in-arms’ wife even went to help out; PeiMin has really turned into a gold nugget," Tan Yan said with a sour tone.

Guo Caixia gave her a look and replied, "PeiMin has a good relationship with her, coming over to visit for a couple of days is normal."

Feng Erxi just nodded, "Exactly, the other day we went to visit Sanni, it’s all the sa."

Upon hearing herself ntioned, Ge Sanni felt displeased inside.

The group of nine won quickly arrived at Yang PeiMin’s rental door.

Maybe it was because there were so many of them and they were all won, but they attracted the attention of so neighbors who poked their heads out to look.

It was just past nine o’clock in the morning, and Aunt Qu from the leather factory’s family compound was washing her husband’s dirty pants. Hearing the neighbors’ chatter, she put down the trousers and walked into the alley to gossip and see for herself.

Seeing this group of sharp and spirited ’won warriors,’ she could tell they were not just ordinary relatives; she guessed they must be Yang PeiMin’s colleagues or classmates.

She asked with a smile, "Are you here to look for the Yang Family’s Miss?"

Guo Caixia nodded at her.

Aunt Qu continued to ask, "Oh dear, it’s rare to see such a vibrant and extraordinary young lady. Are you Miss Yang’s classmates?"

Seeing people nod on that side, the smile on her face grew even more cheerful, "I thought so, just by looking at your deanor, I can tell it’s different; you can see that you are educated. This is the first ti this old lady has seen so many university students. You’ve really achieved sothing. And you’re so thoughtful, to know your classmate had a child and specially co to visit. You don’t know, our two families are very close, whether there is sothing to do or not, my boy and I love to go over and sit awhile. They are really good and easy to get along with. Your relationship is truly good, and Miss Yang is really lucky to have such accomplished classmates."

Feng Erxi smiled at her.

The others were rather indifferent, mainly because this old lady was sowhat baffling.

Soon Yang Peihua ca out to open the door.

Cheng Aihua walked at the front, and upon seeing a man co to open the door, she was slightly startled, as this man was not PeiMin’s partner. She asked, "Excuse , does Yang PeiMin live here?"

Seeing so many girls, Yang Peihua felt a bit nervous, knowing they were his sister’s classmates, he quickly nodded and made way.

As soon as Tan Yan entered, she sized up Yang Peihua, noting that he was decently dressed, "Who are you to PeiMin?"

Yang Peihua replied, "I’m her older brother."

Feng Erxi laughed, "He didn’t even have to say it; I guessed as much. Didn’t you notice they look sowhat alike, the siblings?"

Yang Peihua had already turned around, calling inside, "Ni Minmin, your classmates are here."
