Chapter 332: Chapter 332: Confrontation
Huang Tao had taken off, a baton struck her shoulder as Shen Yixia, in a rage, caught up to her.
“Li Ershuan, Li Ershuan, co quickly and stop her, stop this madwoman… Are you dead?… Ah, madwoman!”
Because Shen Yiqiu and Shen Yidong had also joined in the fight later on, Huang Tao couldn’t fend them off alone. She yelled for Li Er while frantically dodging the attacks of the three Shen sisters, turning the courtyard into a chaotic scene.
The Li Family watched from the side, Shen Yi’s woman not only hit but also scolded, loudly accusing Huang Tao of harboring malicious thoughts and cursing soone else’s unborn child. The neighbors watching also looked as though they believed the Shen Family was justified. Knowing they appeared guilty, the Li Family hesitated, while the eldest daughter-in-law of the Li Family almost burst out laughing, finding it imnsely satisfying and having no intention of intervening.
Li Er, whom Huang Tao called, also hesitated. No matter whether his wife was dear to him or not, she was still his family. It didn’t make sense to stand aside while his own family mber was being beaten. He thought about going over to break up the fight, but Mrs. Li grabbed him, “You wife brought this on herself. The stuff from a few days ago hasn’t even settled down yet, and here she is, causing more trouble by gossiping. She deserves it.”
At that mont, Shen Yidong grabbed Huang Tao by the hair and demanded fiercely, “Tell , are you jealous of our family, jealous that our sisters married well? Huang Tao scread again, mustering all her strength to run to Li Er’s side. Staring at him as he hesitated, she sharply scolded, “Are you even a man? Seeing your wife getting beaten and you don’t even co to help! Didn’t you see they’re about to beat to death!”
Li Er, triggered by her words, shoved her away, “Am I a man? Don’t you know that very well?” He swung his hand in a slap, but Huang Tao ducked, and due to excessive force, fell to the ground. She looked up at him furiously and scolded, “Li Ershuan, you coward, aren’t you afraid I’ll…”
“Shut your mouth!” Li Er, with eyes bloodshot, yanked her up and snapped, “If you keep spouting nonsense, see if I don’t divorce you!”
His threat had an effect, and although Huang Tao was still indignant, she dared not say anything more.
Now, seeing her in that state, Li Er beca wary, so he stood in front of her and asked Shen Yixia, “Sister Shen, could there be so misunderstanding here? Upon hearing Shen Yixia’s words, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Li Family nearly applauded. Though she controlled her hands, her expression conveyed agreent as she nodded repeatedly and seized the opportunity to flatter her mother-in-law, “I think what Yixia said is spot-on. Our sister-in-law isn’t like that at all. Mom, you were so good to her before, and now she finally shows her true colors. Li Er, bombarded with sarcasm, turned red and suppressed his anger, “But how can you decide this was done by my wife without any evidence? Arbitrarily smashing up our house, we have to call the brigade for an explanation on this.”
Sharp-eyed and articulate, Li Er was not a man to suffer losses without cause.
“Evidence? Does Huang Tao dare to confront everyone here?” Yidong couldn’t hold back anymore, staring down Huang Tao, “Do you dare? Such despicable acts of giving birth, only you could stoop so low. What do you all say, uncles and fellow villagers? Isn’t it from Huang Tao’s side that these rumors originated?”
Huang Tao felt guilty, but dared not show it on her face, avoiding Yidong’s stare, she asserted, “I admit I ntioned seeing a ghost at your place. I saw it and ntioned it to soone in the morning. Shen Yixia scoffed angrily, “When did such things ever appear in our house? Don’t we know our own ho? Since you ntioned Jianjun’s house and Fu, let them co over and tell us exactly which ghost ca to ss with my house.”
By now, Sister-in-law Jianjun was among the crowd and was quickly pushed forward. Before the crowd could question her, she blurted out, “I must’ve seen it wrong, it was getting dark, might’ve been soone else with a torch.”
“Did you really see it wrong?”
“I definitely saw it wrong,” Sister-in-law Jianjun admitted, already intimidated by the situation. It’s better to stay out of trouble… The Shen family was not one to ss with easily, as indicated by the welts on Huang Tao’s head still sending shivers down her spine.
