Yang PeiMin then began to inquire about Lu Haijun.
Shen Yixiang said, “He’s 25 this year, a squad leader for the new recruits. He has a good personality, good temperant, and he’s funny. It seems he’s the second child from a rural family, his parents are alive, he has a younger brother and sister who aren’t married yet… They haven’t split the family property.”
Shen Yiguang frowned as he listened, “That kid really does sound impressive. Did he tell you all this?”
“No, he ntioned it casually in passing, I just put it together myself.”
Upon hearing this, Yang PeiMin felt sothing wasn’t quite right, “How did Yixiang start talking to him? What else did he say? Did he directly express a desire to pursue a relationship with you?”
Who knows what intentions others might have when they approach you? If he was just casually speaking without that aning, wouldn’t the little girl be heartbroken?
After listening, Shen Yixiang’s gaze flickered, and she spoke softly, “He didn’t say… but I know that’s what he ant. He just hasn’t said it yet…”
“Yixiang!”
Shen Yixiang glanced at her brother and imdiately responded, “Brother, he must an it, otherwise, why would he co talk to ?”
It seed Shen Yixiang had beco stubborn, utterly convinced of Lu Haijun’s intentions.
Seeing her like this, Shen Yiguang couldn’t help getting angry, “Drop this subject for now. Such an important matter, and you dare to start a relationship behind my and your sister-in-law’s back, in secret. Do we even exist in your eyes? If he truly respects you, he should co to and clarify everything first.”
Nowadays, many people take up relationships this way, seeking approval from elders to openly be together.
Observing her brother’s firm deanor, absolute determination, and slightly stern expression, Shen Yixiang backed down, losing her earlier defiance.
After all, her brother was the hero she had admired since childhood.
Yang PeiMin, relieved by their interaction, smiled and said, “Yiguang, why don’t you share your thoughts on Lu Haijun? What are his strengths and weaknesses, and what about his family’s situation?”
Shen Yixiang silently perked up her ears to listen.
Shen Yiguang shared, “His abilities are decent, he’s fairly shrewd, and generally a righteous person. However, he’s inflexible, thick-faced… tends to mooch off others, sotis unaware, and can be slow to react…” As he spoke, he furrowed his brow, acknowledging Lu’s minor faults but still identified over a dozen issues.
Listening, Yang PeiMin glanced at him silently, recognizing the protective older brother mindset, akin to a father’s.
She then reflected on her own future response if it were her daughter’s courtship at stake, and while engrossed in this thought, she barely heard what the siblings were discussing.
Eventually, she noticed Shen Yixiang’s sowhat embarrassed and blushing expression as she went into the kitchen to cook.
Yang PeiMin was perplexed, wondering how things were resolved so quickly. What had been said?
She looked towards Shen Yiguang.
“Not much, just that we’ll look him up after a while to see if he’s still holding on to his current thoughts.”
“That’s it?”
Shen Yiguang smiled and nodded in affirmation.
Yang PeiMin looked at him suspiciously, “Do you have a plan in mind? And where do you really stand on this, are you for or against?”
Shen Yiguang smiled, gently tousled her hair, and glanced at his sister peeking from the kitchen before shaking his head without a word.
Yang PeiMin felt an itch in her heart, intensely curious about his thoughts.
The matter was thus temporarily set aside, especially since the male lead, Lu Haijun, had been assigned by Shen Yiguang to an outdoor military exercise for a month, aning Shen Yixiang wouldn’t see him for a while.
