Having soone at ho to cook for her, waiting for her return to eat, truly gave her a sense of happiness.

It reminded her of her student days, how Grandma used to do the sa. As soon as she got ho from school, there would be a table full of food, even if it wasn’t alti, there were fruits and snacks ready for her. While she ate, Grandma would watch her with pity, saying she was spending too much energy on school and needed to eat more to regain her strength.

Even though the dishes Shen Yixiang made weren’t exactly delicious, they were still much better than those at school. The school only served at once a week on Wednesdays, and the rest of the ti was vegetarian. She usually brought so at from outside restaurants to supplent her als, otherwise, she felt she couldn’t stand it. This picky eating habit of hers, despite her efforts to change it, had not been completely corrected yet.

Shen Yixiang made cured pork with garlic sprouts, stead eggs, and boiled cabbage for lunch. She told Yang PeiMin, "I didn’t go out today. I exchanged eggs with the neighbors for the cabbage and garlic sprouts. The cured pork and eggs are brought from our ho. I think this al is quite good. Try so."

After tasting, Yang PeiMin affird her efforts.

Shen Yixiang was gleeful the whole al, "I cleaned the house today, got everything sorted out. I have nothing to do this afternoon. How about I visit your school? I’ll go with you when you have class later, and then I’ll co back on my own to prepare dinner."

"Sure, the weather is quite nice today. A walk over there should be about right."

Shen Yixiang was delighted and had an extra bowl of rice.

Now, with the school nearing the end of the term, there were barely any people on campus—all were either studying in their classrooms or dorms.

Yang PeiMin had Shen Yixiang wear the coat she brought from the tailor’s shop. Bundled in scarves, they trudged through the snow and took a tour around the school.

Shen Yixiang was very happy. When she turned to look back at Yang PeiMin, she noticed her nose had turned red from the cold, "Let’s head back. It didn’t feel cold while walking, but now that we’ve stopped, it’s really chilly."

Smiling at her, Yang PeiMin asked, "Have you seen enough? What do you think?"

"It’s just as I imagined. You must study hard here. When I get back, I need to teach my students properly so they can also get into university and beco useful mbers of society," Shen Yixiang said with seriousness.

Yang PeiMin nodded, having dreams was good. She asked further, "How’s your work going over there? Did you take leave to co here or what?"

"Ah, that. I took leave. There are plenty of teachers at school; they can cover for while I’m away."

Yang PeiMin questioned, "The school allows you to take that much leave?"

Shen Yixiang lifted her chin with pride, "What’s wrong with that? I told them I was going to attend a study session. The principal asked where, and I said I was coming here, then he approved it. The principal is quite visionary, you know."

Yang PeiMin was dumbfounded at the reason.

With a grand gesture, Shen Yixiang said, "Who cares? Co on, I’ll walk you back to the classroom."

As they reached the corridor to the classroom, one or two people dashed towards them, looking hurried. Yang PeiMin and Shen Yixiang stepped aside quickly, but before they could move out of the way, those people had already run past, shouting to make way. They pushed past Yang PeiMin and Shen Yixiang. Unable to withstand the force, Yang PeiMin was knocked backward and fell. The person running behind couldn’t stop in ti and stumbled over her, falling heavily onto Yang PeiMin’s stomach.

The person who fell on her was a grown man, tall and bulky, and it’s easy to imagine the kind of impact his weight and the force of the fall had.

Yang Peimin’s belly was in such sharp spasms that she couldn’t speak, breaking out into a cold sweat on her forehead.

Shen Yixiang’s shrill scream tore through the sky, madly ripping the youth off of Yang Peimin, "You hit her in the belly! She still has a child in there! You murderer! Are you blind? How could you hit her in the belly?" By the end of her accusation, her voice had taken on a weeping tone.

The youth scrambled up in a panic and, hearing Shen Yixiang’s cries, beca terrified.

The person who had been running before also quickly knelt down to check on Yang Peimin, "I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry, how are you doing, fellow student? Can you stand up?"

Shen Yixiang pushed him away and cried out, "Can’t you see my sister-in-law is in so much pain she can’t even speak? Hurry up and get a doctor over here, wuuu... her belly..."

Students nearby hearing the commotion gathered round, with soone saying, "Quickly get a stretcher over here and take her to the hospital..."

"Yes, hurry, she’s pregnant, the situation doesn’t look good."

At this point, Yang Peimin was truly in severe pain, and she was too distracted to listen to what they were saying.

Shen Yixiang squatted down and reached out to help Yang Peimin, frantic, "Sister-in-law, sister-in-law, how are you? Don’t scare ..."

Yang Peimin, with her hands over her belly, shook her head at Shen Yixiang, signaling her not to touch her, as moving made the pain worse.

"Sister-in-law..."

"Don’t move her, I see you’re causing her even more pain by pulling on her. Let’s just wait for the stretcher and the dical room staff to get here," persuaded soone next to Shen Yixiang.

Just a bit further ahead was Yang Peimin’s classroom. When her classmates heard what had happened, they too rushed over. Li Yue pushed through the crowd, "Peimin, Peimin, how are you feeling now?"

"Who exactly was the heartless bastard who did this?" Li Yue cursed at the onlookers.

Shen Yixiang, in tears, pointed at the two young n who had been running, "It was them, running blind and bumping into my sister-in-law. She’s got a child in her belly now, and if anything happens to her, you lot can wait do your ti in jail." Unable to control her emotions, she stood up and started to kick at them.

"Do you have any idea how hard it was for my sister-in-law to conceive? My mother has been sick, and it was only the hope of seeing her first grandson that kept her going. You bastard, hitting her with such force, that child...you..."

Another female classmate quickly grabbed Shen Yixiang, "Calm down, don’t panic, your sister-in-law is still fine, she’s relying on you to be there, don’t get worked up, no one’s getting away with this..."

The male youth was scared witless, standing off to the side, not knowing what to do.

Soone nearby explained, "Those two students were also in a hurry to call for help; apparently, a pregnant woman in the Chinese Language departnt is in trouble too, they didn’t expect to bump into soone, and to think it’s another pregnant woman, they didn’t do it on purpose."

Shen Yixiang was completely unmoved, cursing under her breath.

Soon enough, a stretcher arrived, and the healthcare doctor from the dical room also ca. After asking about Yang Peimin’s current state, which seed to have eased up a bit, they quickly got several female classmates to help lift her onto the stretcher, then the male classmates carried her down toward the flatbed cart downstairs; she was to be taken to the hospital.
