27: Chapter 27 Whodunit 27: Chapter 27 Whodunit What kind of tone was that?

“Don’t worry, I’ll marry you!”

Pei Min froze completely.

When she thought she was hallucinating, she saw Shen Yiguang’s exceptionally serious and earnest face.

“You, what kind of joke is this?” she forced a smile, “It’s not funny at all!”

The hand Shen Yiguang had on her back pulled inward, almost cradling her half in his arms, “I’m serious, not joking, and you don’t need to worry, I will take responsibility.”

Take responsibility?

Responsibility for what?

Had her out-of-date brain missed so crucial point?

Pei Min quickly tried to withdraw from his embrace, it couldn’t be that a hug ant he had to take responsibility for her, could it?

“Don’t move recklessly, or you’ll fall again.” Shen Yiguang didn’t let go, “Let carry you out instead, how can you walk in this condition?”

“Brother Shen, what responsibility do you have to take?

I don’t need you to take any for , I’ll be able to walk on my own after I rest a bit.” She still struggled to sit down right there; no matter what, it was best to just sit for the ti being.

“Don’t be stubborn, have you forgotten the blood behind you?” Shen Yiguang also carefully helped her to squat down.

Was this really the ti to bring that up?

Pei Min’s face reddened again, and she huffed, “I know…”

“Could you call my sister in for ?

Or my mother is fine, too, to bring a piece of clothing.”

Shen Yiguang looked at her with so concern and instructed, “Don’t move around, I’ll be back soon.

If sothing happens, just yell, got it?”

Pei Min nodded heedlessly.

Please leave quickly.

Her bleeding disorder was about to flare up again…

Shen Yiguang strode out of the yard and managed to find Zhang Minghua.

After telling her that Pei Min was in the yard and asking her to hurry over, he didn’t wait for Zhang Minghua’s inquisitive gaze and quickly went back to his own house.

First, he took a bottle of disinfectant hydrogen peroxide, a bottle of Yunnan Baiyao, so gauze, and his army overcoat, thinking of Pei Min’s penchant for tidiness when she took out her handkerchief.

Additionally, he grabbed a few new towels and hurried back to the Zhao family’s vegetable garden.

Now, Pei Min finally saw Zhang Minghua arrive, with a grievance in her voice as she called out to her mother.

“What, what happened?” Zhang Minghua rushed over, first noticing Pei Min’s pitiful little face with tear stains, then the blood on her left hand, too afraid to touch it, she anxiously asked, “How did this happen?”

“Why are you sitting like this, child?” Zhang Minghua tried to help her up, “Let’s hurry outside to treat your hand.”

“Mother, don’t rush, didn’t you bring clothes?”

“Why do I need to bring clothes?

Are you cold?

Do you have a fever?”

Pei Min shook her head urgently, stopping Zhang Minghua’s gesture to feel her forehead, “No, it’s that ti of the month, my pants are… I can’t go out like this.”

Zhang Minghua was taken aback, “You weren’t prepared?”

Pei Min shook her head again.

“I’ll go borrow so, but how can you be sitting like this?

The ground is cold; you should get up…”

“No need, you hurry up.

Borrowing clothes is fine, but don’t borrow that…” She had seen the sanitary pads of this ti, made by stuffing straw paper inside a cloth strap, which was reused.

The thought of borrowing one from soone else was imdiately dismissed by her; she planned to buy so in town.

“Auntie Pei Min, it’s getting dark, we need to hurry to the health clinic.”

Zhang Minghua was sowhat taken aback as she looked at Shen Yiguang who had appeared behind her, at the items in his hands, and at the words he was saying, which felt indescribably strange.

But Shen Yiguang, who was speaking, had already squatted down in front of Yang Pei Min, lifting her hand, “I’m going to disinfect this for you, it’s going to hurt a bit, bear with it.”

Yang Pei Min could only nod dumbly.

Her hand was what mattered; everything else could wait…

She bit her lip as he disinfected her wound, watching him apply the dicine, and felt another layer of fine sweat break out on her back.

It really hurt.

“Thank you!” she said to Shen Yiguang.

“Don’t ntion it, let’s hurry.

Or should I carry you out?” Shen Yiguang draped the military coat over her and reached out to help her up.

By this ti, Zhang Minghua had finally recovered, her face full of shock, “What’s going on with you two?”

“Auntie, I have agreed to marry Pei Min.

We can talk about this later after we get back.

First, we should take her to the health clinic to see.”

“It’s nothing!”

Both spoke at the sa ti.

What was going on?

Her daughter had been away from her for just one day and now belonged to soone else?

Yang Pei Min looked at the two explanations and tended to believe Shen Yiguang’s more composed words.

Zhang Minghua expressed her inability to accept, “This, this…” She had so many questions, but concern for her daughter’s injury took precedence, and she ca over to help Yang Pei Min get up.

“That, mom, go have a look at the front area and see if there’s anything there.

I keep feeling a sll.” Once she had recovered, she thought more about it, and it seed that the little boy had been trying to lure her to the front.

She wasn’t sure if it was intentional or accidental, but suspicion had arisen, and it was making her restless for answers.

“What’s there to look at?

Let’s not bother and just leave.” Zhang Minghua couldn’t understand her curiosity.

“You all go ahead, I’ll have a look.” Shen Yiguang said, taking long strides ahead, pausing by a pile of straw in front of the outhouse, glanced down, then returned to Yang Pei Min with a calm expression, “It’s feces inside there, that outhouse is a toilet.”

Yang Pei Min suddenly realized, so that was it.

The little boy had intended to push her towards the stack of straw, to fall into it.

Just thinking about it made her scalp tingle – who could it be?

Who would co up with such a an trick?

“Then let’s go.”

Yang Pei Min insisted that her feet were fine and she could walk on her own.

The military coat she wore reached down to her calves and was enough to hide her embarrassnt; she needed to leave right away, as her mind uncontrollably fixated on the image of her falling into that ss…

Zhang Minghua was worried about her and took her by the other arm that wasn’t injured, Shen Yiguang following behind.

Leaving the vegetable garden, because the courtyard also had banqueting tables set up, it was crowded with people and tables.

When they had each gone in one at a ti earlier, no one had noticed, or if they had, they didn’t mind.

But now that the three of them were leaving together, people took note.

“What happened?

How did this young girl hurt her hand?” Imdiately, soone noticed Yang Pei Min’s hand wrapped in gauze, still showing bloodstains.

“I accidentally fell, we need to go to the health clinic to have a look.” Zhang Minghua said, “I’ll have to ask you to inform my second sister.”

“Oh dear, how careless!

Hurry to the clinic, don’t delay.

I’ll let her know in a bit.”

“Is there a car?

Hurry up and get soone to take them!” During the feast, the biggest worry was not being able to properly take care of the guests, especially in the case of an injury, so the hosts were anxious, busily arranging for help.

“Don’t bother, I’ll take them right now.” It was Shen Yiguang who stepped forward to stop those wanting to help.

Most people in the yard knew him and knew he had a car, so they trusted him to take them, with several older relatives repeatedly admonishing him to be careful and such.

“Yo Yang Pei Min, what’s happened here?

And you’ve got an injury on your hand?” Sun Xiajuan ca out from the inner room, her face surprised, but her eyes twinkling with amusent.

“Did you send Tie Dan here?” Yang Pei Min turned to look at her, suspecting Sun Xiajuan was the only one with a grudge against her.

“What?

I don’t understand what you’re saying?

What Tie Dan, copper egg?

I don’t know them!”

With her response, Yang Pei Min beca even more certain it was Sun Xiajuan; this was revenge for her comnt about Sun Xiajuan’s bad breath.

“Let’s go, whoever did it won’t get away easily.

Get better first so you have the strength to deal with them.” Shen Yiguang urged, casting an unintentional yet clearly warning glare at Sun Xiajuan.

Sun Xiajuan, about to say sothing, suddenly stalled and forgot her intended words.
