I think I might have bombed that final. Okay, not bombed, but I didn’t give it my all. Is it terrible that I don’t really care? I’ve never loved school or the structure of it. I enjoy reading and learning things, but the pull to college has never been there. Two weeks ago, I thought it might be my only option because it would be a way to get out of my sister and her new husband’s hair. They never asked to leave, but they’re starting a family together. Kat has spent so much of her life taking care of . She deserves to have sothing of her own.

Now I’m wondering if I’ve found soone who will be my forever too. Watching my sister and Luke fall madly in love so quickly made ache for the sa. The way Luke stares at my sister is all a girl could ever hope for.

I pop a grape into my mouth as I check my phone to see if I have any new texts from Siegfried. My sister sohow had a new one delivered to the house first thing.

Thinking about Siegfried, I have to squeeze my legs together to try and find so relief. This morning was so intense. I can’t imagine what it will be like when it’s only him and in a bed with no ti limits. Excitent bubbles up inside of , and I hate that I’m only halfway through the day.

I’m tucked away in my normal spot in the library where I always have lunch and then read a book or get ahead on my howork, but everything is pretty much wrapped up. I’m days away from graduation, so now all I have to do is finish exams.

I smile when I see I have two texts from Siegfried.

Siegfried: I miss you

Siegfried: Be a good girl and send a picture of you

Heat blooms through my body when he calls a good girl. I almost orgasd on the spot when he said it to this morning. Picking up the phone, I snap a few pictures of myself and then check through them before sending the best one.

“What’s that smile for?” I glance up to see Dalton standing there.

“Hi,” I say, forcing myself to be pleasant with him. He’s Siegfried’s son, and I know that Siegfried and I can’t be a secret forever. Though we should maybe wait a while before telling everyone.

“Hi? That’s what you have to say to ?” He suddenly lunges across the table and snatches my phone out of my hand.

“Give that back.” I jump up from my seat, ready to take it from him.

“Sit your ass down or everyone in the school will know what a fucking slut you are.” I drop down in my chair as his words smack in the face. He flicks through my phone, and my heart pounds. He knows.

“Dalton, I’m sorry.” I’m not sure what else to say.

“Oh, you’re going to be sorry.” He shakes his head as he keeps scrolling through my phone. “You were lucky I was even giving you attention. Everyone else around here ignores you.” I bite my lip to keep from saying his daddy doesn’t ignore . In fact, his daddy seems to like everything about . “This is bullshit.”

“I really am sorry, Dalton. The thing with your dad and —”

“He’s not my dad, he’s my uncle. But yeah he’s been like a dad to .” Wait, Siegfried isn’t a father? I relish that for a mont as I think that I could be the only woman to ever carry his babies. “Or he tried to be. Instead he goes and takes what’s mine.”

Did he say what’s his? As in ? “Dalton, we weren’t a thing. You barely talk to at school and—”

“Yeah, if I showed you attention, the other guys around here might notice and start sniffing around you for themselves.” He places his hands on the table. “You let him fuck you, didn’t you? Did you give him your cherry?” He glares at , and I shake my head no. I’m not sure I could form words right now if I wanted to. “This is done. Over with.”

He pulls my phone back out and slides it across the table to . Is he talking about him and or Siegfried and ? I don’t think he has a say in that. In fact, this is better than I thought. Siegfried isn’t Dalton’s dad. That makes sense because Siegfried and Dalton are nothing alike. I can’t see Siegfried raising a son to be like this asshole.

Dalton pulls out his own phone with a smug expression on his face. My heart starts to pound so hard I’m sure everyone can hear it, but no one is paying attention. My little corner of the library is tucked away. My phone starts to go off, and I see texts from Dalton pop up. I already know from the look on his face he’s got sothing I’m not going to want to see.

Knowing I don’t have much of a choice, I reach out and click the ssages. My stomach drops when I see pictures of Siegfried and from this morning. “Please,” I whisper as tears sting my eyes.

“This would be embarrassing for your sister’s husband. He’s a well-respected businessman. Not to ntion I’m sure Siegfried’s career would be ruined. Fooling around with a girl still in high school? You might be eighteen, but you’re still teenage pussy.” I gasp at his crudeness.

It’s so different when Siegfried says dirty things to . This is cruel. “What do you want?”

“I want you.”

I’m already shaking my head before he’s even finished. “I’m not having sex with you.”

“No, but you can break things off with Siegfried and tell him you made a mistake. You can tell him you want to be with .” Dalton has lost his freaking mind. I think more than anything it’s his ego and pride that’s on the line. “What will it be, sweetheart?”

I fight back tears, not wanting to cry in front of Dalton. “I’ll break things off with Siegfried.” The words make ache as I say them, and Dalton smiles before licking his lips.

“I’ll pick you up tonight at seven. Be ready and don’t wear the stupid glasses.” He turns and walks away while I stare at his back until he disappears.

Shoving all my things in my bag, I call Graham and ask him to co pick up. I know my sister and Luke went into the city for a doctor’s appointnt because she’s getting an ultrasound today. Then Luke is taking her out to dinner and dancing. Kat loves to go dancing, and I’d already told her I’d be out for the night with a new friend. She just asked for to send the address and to be safe.

My hands shake as I text Siegfried.

: Sothing ca up. I can’t make it tonight.

Siegfried: Why. What’s co up? Are you okay?

: Family stuff

My phone starts to ring in my hand, and Siegfried’s na lights up. I hurry out of the library and out the main doors of the school. My phone only stops ringing to start again. If Siegfried is anything, it’s relentless. That’s what worries . I don’t think he would care if he ruined his career. He might be fine with it at first, but he’d grow to resent . Then there is still my sister and Luke.

“Hey,” I say, answering it.

“What’s going on?”

“I can’t do this.”

“Can’t do what?” His tone turns firm.

“I need to think, please.” A sob escapes.

“I’m coming to you.” I hear him moving around.

“No! I’m leaving school now. I just...” I trail off.

“Little flower.” His tone softens. “Everything is going to be okay. I told you that you’re mine. This isn’t so fling. Do you understand that?” He’s only making this harder.

“Siegfried,” I breathe.

“I’ll give you so space, but this isn’t over. Understand ?”

“But—”

“No buts. Buts are long gone, little flower. You could already have my baby inside of you.” My hand goes to my stomach, and a longing I didn’t know I had hits hard. If that’s true, then maybe we could be together. Or it could make everything so much worse.

“I’m sorry,” I say before I end the call and turn my phone off. I’m too weak not to answer him if he calls.

Thankfully, Graham pulls up a few minutes later.

“Rosie, are you okay?” he asks when I get into the car.

“Not really. I just want to go...” I almost say “ho.” “Back to the house please.”

“All right.”

“Please don’t worry my sister.” I can tell Graham wants to fight on this. “I’ll talk to her tomorrow, just let her have today.” Graham nods before pulling away from the school. Maybe I can talk so sense into Dalton tonight and try to make him see reason.

The ride ho is torture. As soon as the car stops, I rush inside to my bedroom, and I barely get the door closed before I burst into tears.
