_1 Chapter 995: Chapter 995: Is There Any Humanity Left?
_1 The view was exceptionally open.
Looking out, more than half of what ets the eye is the sky.
The air quality in Belford has been pretty good these days; there’s no smog.
The sky is a clear blue with white clouds resembling cotton candy.
Usually, you can see rows upon rows of rooftops in Belford, with skyscrapers standing tall and impressive.
...
Lyke Zhekova got so slippers and said, “We only have n’s slippers at ho, you’ll have to make do for now.
I’ll buy so ladies’ slippers later.”
“Okay.” Peggy Lewis accepted and put on the slippers handed to her by Lyke Zhekova.
She thought, she probably wouldn’t have many chances to co here in the future, so Lyke Zhekova didn’t need to specifically buy won’s slippers.
But disputing with Lyke Zhekova seed impolite.
After all, it was his kindness.
Speaking against him felt like bluntly rejecting it.
So, Peggy Lewis simply didn’t say anything and absent-mindedly agreed.
Who knows what the future holds anyway.
However, Lyke Zhekova didn’t see Peggy Lewis’s agreent as insincere.
He was already considering going to so brand’s flagship stores later to see if there were any nice slippers to buy for Peggy Lewis.
Lyke Zhekova looked down, trying to estimate Peggy Lewis’s shoe size.
What he saw was her wearing his oversized slippers.
Her feet looked even smaller contrasted with his n’s slippers.
Because she had been wearing heels, Peggy Lewis hadn’t put on socks and was wearing the slippers barefoot.
When Lyke Zhekova chose slippers, he didn’t bother with the style and color.
He simply chose black ones with the brand’s logo embossed on it, also in black.
If you don’t look closely, you wouldn’t be able to tell.
Now, Peggy Lewis’s feet were enclosed by the black slippers, a stark contrast that was slightly dazzling.
Wearing high heels, although the heels weren’t high, was not as comfortable as wearing sneakers.
Part of her toes had turned slightly red from being squeezed by the shoes.
It was more prominent against her fair skin.
But in Lyke Zhekova’s eyes, it wasn’t unattractive, but rather it stirred up feelings of concern for her.
He really wanted to touch it and ask her if it hurt.
Peggy Lewis wearing his oversized slippers, didn’t fit well on her feet at all..
Walking was a bit difficult.
The shoes were indeed too big, it was twice the size of her feet.
Without a second thought, Lyke Zhekova suddenly scooped up Peggy Lewis in his arms.
Peggy Lewis was startled.
She was completely unprepared.
She was suddenly in Lyke Zhekova’s embrace.
She slled the familiar scent of pine trees on him, which instantly made Peggy Lewis so nervous she couldn’t move.
She had unconsciously grabbed onto Lyke Zhekova’s clothes earlier.
Now, realizing it, she found her hand still clutching onto the lapel of Lyke Zhekova’s jacket.
Looking up, his chin was just an inch away.
With a slight movent, her nose would brush against his chin.
Because they were so close, she could even see the shadow of stubble on his chin.
Lyke Zhekova’s beard was cleanly shaven, but one could still see the bluish shadow.
“Thunk!”
The slippers are finally dropped to the floor because Peggy’s feet can’t hold those big slippers.
“Mr.
Zhekova.” Peggy Lewis exclaid in shock.
She was panicking now.
Being a lifelong singleton.
Up until this mont, she had never been so close to a man.
Lyke Zhekova was the first.
Peggy Lewis was so nervous that her mind stopped working.
Her mind wasn’t blank, but she definitely wasn’t in a sane state.
It was like a TV screen filled with static because of a poor signal a long ti ago.
Peggy Lewis thought, sothing must be wrong with her brain.
Because she couldn’t think of anything else, the first thing she thought of was what her current weight was?
It seed to be 103 jin.
Is that heavy or not?
Would Lyke Zhekova find her too heavy when he held her?
Peggy Lewis mustered the courage to look at him and saw Lyke Zhekova was frowning.
Did he find her too heavy?
Did he find it hard to carry her?
But Peggy Lewis didn’t know that Lyke Zhekova thought she was too light.
Cradling her took no effort at all.
Lyke Zhekova estimated that she must be around 1.7 ters tall.
Even if she’s not, it couldn’t be far off, yet she was so light.
It really wasn’t supposed to be.
“Didn’t you say you wouldn’t be so distant with ?
You just agreed but after such a short ti, you’re acting distant again?” Lyke Zhekova arched his eyebrows and punned.
Even so, he still didn’t consider setting Peggy Lewis down before having a conversation.
Peggy Lewis opened her mouth, but ended up giving an embarrassed smile.
Lyke Zhekova thought it was because they hadn’t spent enough ti together which made Peggy Lewis uncomfortable.
So, Lyke Zhekova decided not to make things difficult for her now.
Peggy Lewis then asked, “Shouldn’t you set down now?”
Being suddenly held in a bridal carry made her very flustered.
“These slippers are too big, you could trip if you walk wearing them.” Lyke Zhekova admitted guiltily, “It’s my negligence.”
With that, he continued to carry Peggy Lewis and walked forward.
Until he set her down to sit on the couch.
When Lyke Zhekova bent down to put Peggy Lewis to sit on the couch, he naturally leaned closer to her and they were very close.
Peggy Lewis held her breath in nervousness, thinking that when he bent down, her nose would almost touch Lyke Zhekova’s cheek.
For a mont, Peggy Lewis felt that Lyke Zhekova’s breath seed to brush against her face.
“You can sit here for a while.” Lyke Zhekova furrowed his brows and said, “Or do you want to put on your shoes first?”
Yet Peggy Lewis’s shoes were ant to be worn for work.
It wouldn’t be comfortable to wear at ho.
Lyke Zhekova thought, Peggy Lewis was already working so hard at work, wearing heels at ho would definitely make her suffer.
Peggy Lewis had already waved her hand and said, “No, no, no.
I’m fine with bare feet.”
The interior decoration of Lyke Zhekova’s house was too high-end.
Moreover, the floor was so clean.
It was impolite to wear outside shoes inside, not to ntion damaging the floor with the heels.
“Barefoot is not an option.” Lyke Zhekova declared and dialed a number.
The call was to Wallace Martin.
“CEO.” As soon as Wallace Martin picked up the call, he imdiately asked, “How is Miss Lewis?”
“She’s fine now.” Lyke Zhekova replied, then suddenly asked in a deep voice, “You seem care a lot?”
Wallace Martin thought Lyke Zhekova was out of his mind.
When Lyke Zhekova was an old bachelor before, he was rather normal.
Why has he suddenly gone crazy as soon as he’s about to settle down?
Isn’t this just a normal concern for a person in danger?
Even if Peggy Lewis was replaced with soone else, he would still show the sa level of concern, okay?
This should be a normal reaction, right?
If people can’t even care about soone else’s safety, wouldn’t that be inhumane?
“Of course, I care!
After all, Miss Lewis is my future CEO’s wife.” Wallace Martin quickly responded, “I naturally wouldn’t want my future CEO’s wife to get hurt.”
