Chapter 585: Aren’t we even now?

“What that ans is, if there’s any major incident, I can only choose to sense one person. And once I choose that one person, I won’t be able to sense anyone else’s thoughts for a period of ti.”

“There’s another important condition: the other person’s emotional fluctuations must be very intense.” Adrian Zhekova explained.

“Every person has a natural defensive barrier, especially between strangers or people who are not very familiar with each other.”

“Even among friends, siblings, or family mbers, there will be barriers of varying thickness. There aren’t many tis when people completely let down their guard.” Adrian Zhekova said.

“It’s even rarer when they’re emotionally vulnerable, and can’t control their emotions,” he continued. “So, it’s actually difficult for to sense soone’s thoughts based on the conditions being t. I can only do so when the other person is not on guard and has large emotional fluctuations.”

“For example, even if you don’t guard against , I wouldn’t be able to sense your thoughts unless you were really angry or surprised.”

“In addition, I must be looking into the person’s eyes to do it,” Adrian Zhekova added. “Only when all these conditions are t, can I perceive their thoughts.”

“Just like when you heard about my Family Head ability earlier and were shocked. You didn’t have any defenses against , but your emotions were highly fluctuating at that mont. And you happened to be looking into my eyes when these conditions were t, so I could sense your thoughts.”

“Do you always have such strong emotional fluctuations when you’re with ?” Adrian Zhekova asked.

Cindy Clarke thought about it, finding such monts to be rare.

Otherwise, wouldn’t she always be in an agitated state?

Adrian Zhekova might not be tired of it, but she would probably be exhausted from the constant excitent.

“I didn’t tell you because I was worried that once you knew, you’d be uncomfortable, feel like there’s no privacy when you’re with , and believe that it’d be tireso to be with while guarding against knowing your thoughts.”

“But in reality, even if I want to sense your thoughts, it’s not passively received, and I need to focus on listening carefully. When I’m relaxed, I won’t sense these things.”

“You…” Adrian Zhekova looked at Cindy anxiously, “What do you think?”

“Do you feel uncomfortable being with under such circumstances, facing pressure?” Adrian could imagine what it would be like.

If soone close could hear one’s thoughts, anyone would find it difficult to accept and would be hesitant to approach them.

Having their thoughts completely exposed with no privacy whatsoever.

That would be terrible.

Although he genuinely couldn’t sense everything.

What he had told Cindy was the truth.

Only by eting so many conditions and consciously focusing his perception could he know what others were thinking.

Normally, when he didn’t use this ability, he couldn’t hear anything.

But he was afraid that Cindy wouldn’t believe him.

He was worried that she would have a thorn in her heart.

He was afraid that she wouldn’t feel at ease being with him.

“I believe what you said. If you say you won’t sense my thoughts, then you won’t. Besides, constantly listening to other people’s thoughts must be tiring.” Cindy said.

“Actually, even though it sounds scary, it’s a double-edged sword. Sotis, not knowing is a blessing. Knowing everything so clearly, like when others curse, harbor dissatisfaction, or resentnt toward you, can be exhausting.”

“That’s too difficult.” Adrian Zhekova said. “It takes a huge effort for to do it. I can’t easily sense the thoughts of others. Even if I wanted to, I would have to work hard to do so. Not to ntion creating emotional fluctuations for them and looking into their eyes.”

Cindy thought about it, and the occurrence of such situations was almost nonexistent when they were together.

“Only when I’m with the Old Master and my father does it beco easier. Although our Family Head abilities are different among the three generations, there is an invisible connection between us, which allows to more easily sense their thoughts. But it’s only limited to them.” Adrian Zhekova added.

“Cindy,” Adrian Zhekova called out seriously, “Tell honestly, considering all this, are you still willing to be with ? Can you still be at ease by my side without any grudges?”

“Do you feel uncomfortable, or awkward?” Adrian Zhekova asked her, “Are you always worried that I’ll pry into your secrets?”

Adrian Zhekova looked at Cindy nervously.

He was really afraid that Cindy would leave him because of all this.

He was afraid that Cindy wouldn’t want to be with him anymore.

This feeling was like returning to the very beginning when he had arranged his family matters and was waiting for Cindy and Morgan Zhekova to move in.

But he didn’t know if Cindy was willing to do so.

He recalled the never-before-experienced apprehension he felt when he proposed that idea to her one night.

But now, his nervousness was even worse than that night.

It was incomparable, in fact.

That night, he was afraid of Cindy’s rejection.

But now, he was scared that Cindy would leave him.

Adrian Zhekova’s eyes were firmly fixed on Cindy.

Even his hands were unconsciously gripping her tighter, afraid that she would leave, so he held her especially tightly.

So tight that Cindy felt a bit of pain, but she didn’t tell him.

From the look in his eyes and the force in his hands, Cindy could clearly feel Adrian’s nervousness.

Cindy shook her head: “No, I believe you.”

“If you say it’s like that, then it must be.” Cindy said.

“Also, now I feel relieved,” she added with a smile.

Now it was Adrian Zhekova’s turn to be puzzled.

It was rare to see him looking so bewildered and utterly confused.

Such expressions were rare on his face.

So, Cindy couldn’t help but laugh again.

Then she said, “I’ve always been worried that my family issues would beco a source of conflict between us, and eventually, you would get fed up with it.”

“And you worry that your ability will make feel pressured and uneasy.” Cindy shrugged with a smile, “So, aren’t we even now?”

Adrian Zhekova was taken aback, then let out a sigh of relief and smiled.

Only this girl could co up with such an idea of calling it quits.

If it were up to him, how could it be even?

How could her family’s troubles compare to his?

Not only their Family Head abilities, but the Zhekova Family mbers were also part of tangled sses.

The troubles he would bring her would be much more significant.
