Chapter 1033: Chapter 1033: Don’t Be Afraid_1 Chapter 1033: Chapter 1033: Don’t Be Afraid_1 But all considered together, sothing seed off, right?
“How does it sound?” Lyke Zhekova asked again.
Facing Zhekova’s eager expression, Peggy Lewis could no longer offer any opposition.
She finally understood what it ant for beauty to beguile.
How did those foolish rulers so easily get swayed by the words of a beautiful woman, nodding their agreent without a second thought?
Thought Peggy, faced with such beauty, what could she possibly refuse?
“Alright.” Without thinking, Peggy agreed, nodding her assent.
...
So, overjoyed, Lyke Zhekova called for dinner to be delivered.
After dinner, Lyke Zhekova didn’t stay for too long.
Or else he would seem too shaless.
Since takeout was called, there was no need to let Peggy do the dishes.
Convenient indeed.
When Lyke Zhekova was leaving, he also took the initiative to clean up the takeout boxes and took them out.
Watching Lyke Zhekova’s retreating figure enter the Elevator, Peggy sighed in her heart – he was truly a good man.
Helped in taking out the trash on his way out.
Despite the incongruity of his suited and booted figure carrying a garbage bag, it made him seem more down-to-earth.
After Lyke Zhekova took the elevator downstairs, he got into his car and drove away.
He barely moved out of the Residential Area’s front gate.
Just then, another car was stopped by the security at the entrance.
Since the driver was not a resident, the guards had to check which house he was visiting and register the details.
Lyke Zhekova hadn’t paid any attention initially.
Just as he intended to leave, he overheard a nonchalant comnt from across: “I’m looking for Peggy Lewis at Block 3.”
“Oh, you’re looking for Miss Lewis.” Observing how the visitor had correctly reported the block number and the respectable car he drove – not ostentatiously rich but obviously not cheap either, making it over four hundred thousand –
The visitor was well-dressed and good looking.
Obviously not a troublemaker.
The security guard said: “Then you need to register here.”
Recognizing that familiar voice, Lyke Zhekova turned his head to look.
But the car window facing him was closed.
He could not clearly see the person inside.
By now, the visitor had already signed his na and was allowed past.
On hearing the voice, which Lyke Zhekova found curiously familiar, he felt a strange unease.
Besides, even without this suspicion, the voice clearly belonged to a young man.
A young man coming to et Peggy Lewis late at night, how can he not be vigilant?
He had to nip this potential threat in the bud!
And so, Lyke Zhekova took a U-turn and after exiting the gate, drove to the other entrance.
But right now, there were many residents returning to the Residential Area.
With cars streaming in one after another.
It wasn’t easy for him to take the U-turn.
He waited for several cars, before he was finally able to enter.
At the gate, the security guard, recognizing him, was surprised: “Didn’t you just leave?
How co you’re back again?”
“I rembered leaving sothing behind that I need to pick up.” Lyke Zhekova explained casually.
The security guard was appeased by the casual explanation and let him through.
After Lyke Zhekova left, the security guard jokingly comnted to a colleague, “Miss Lewis’s popularity seems to be on the rise.”
Lyke Zhekova went in a while ago, and now there cos this man.
They wouldn’t start a fight, would they?
And the man Lyke Zhekova had bumped into at the gate was none other than Jacob Zahn.
Jacob Zahn parked his car under Peggy Lewis’s apartnt building.
As the entrance to the apartnt building was locked and he couldn’t possibly ask Peggy to open the door.
If she knew it was him, how could Peggy possibly let him in?
But now, it seed as if even the heavens were on his side.
Just as soone from the building opened the door to leave.
Jacob Zahn promptly sneaked in.
After bidding Lyke Zhekova goodbye, Peggy went to remove her makeup.
First, she needed to remove her makeup and wash her face thoroughly before bathing.
Otherwise, the hot water from bathing might open her pores and let the makeup residues and other dirt penetrate deeper into the skin.
Peggy had just cleaned her face and was about to take a bath when her doorbell rang.
As Zhekova had ntioned he would co over for breakfast in the future,
Peggy had handed over her front gate access card to him for his convenience.
Hearing the doorbell now, Peggy thought Lyke Zhekova had returned.
As she walked to the door, she also glanced back into the living room.
Lyke Zhekova hadn’t left anything behind in her place.
Upon reaching the door, although she thought it was Zhekova, Peggy had a long-established habit of checking through the peephole first.
This habit was a decade-old norm.
She used to follow the sa routine when living with her parents.
Moving out to live alone as a young woman, she had beco more cautious.
This had beco an almost instinctive bodily response.
Even when it was her parents visiting, she would reflexively first look through the peephole due to habit.
So having checked, Peggy got a shock.
Unbelievably, it was Jacob Zahn outside her door!
Jacob Zahn visiting can’t an well!
Of course, Peggy wouldn’t open the door for him.
But the doorbell kept ringing, and Jacob Zahn’s voice echoed from outside, “Peggy Lewis, I know you’re ho.”
He had seen the lights on in her house.
“Open the door!” Jacob Zahn demanded from outside.
Peggy certainly wouldn’t open the door.
She quickly ran back to the living room and picked up her mobile phone that she had left on the couch earlier.
By now, Lyke Zhekova should have been driving far away from the Residential Area.
However, unlike before, at a ti like this, Peggy’s first thought was not Cindy Clarke, but Lyke Zhekova.
The distance was not the question here.
At this juncture, Peggy didn’t have ti to consider who was closer to her.
If this situation had occurred earlier,
In face of any big or small matter, the first person Peggy would think of would be Cindy Clarke,
Even before her parents.
But now, the first person she thought of was surprisingly Lyke Zhekova.
Right now, Peggy was naturally not aware of this change in her.
Lyke Zhekova was almost at the foot of Peggy Lewis’s building.
Suddenly, he received a call from Peggy Lewis.
He answered it imdiately.
“Peggy.” Lyke Zhekova said.
“Jacob Zahn is outside my door.” Peggy said.
She walked to the door.
“He’s been ringing the bell incessantly.”
Even on the phone, Lyke Zhekova could hear Jacob Zahn: “Open the door, you bitch!”
“Don’t be scared.” Lyke Zhekova said in a stern voice, “I’m downstairs now, and I’m coming up.”
“You are downstairs?” Peggy was imdiately relieved.
By her estimate, Lyke Zhekova should have been far away by now, how could he possibly be downstairs at her building?
But Peggy was now thoroughly at ease.
Even with Jacob Zahn still at her door, she wasn’t scared anymore.
She suddenly felt a sense of security and reassurance, a very solid feeling.
“I’m in the elevator now.
Don’t be scared,” Lyke Zhekova said.
“I’m not scared anymore.” Peggy’s voice had lightened noticeably.
Lyke Zhekova laughed softly and then disconnected the call.
There was no reception in the elevator anyway; it was useless to hold onto the call.
Exiting the elevator, he heard Jacob Zahn’s loud ranting.
