123 Chapter 123: Another step forward

General firestorm said nothing and marched outside with Blaze and the rest following tightly. When they left the building, they could see Alex staggering forward with the massive demon hellfire cat about Alex’s size.

Seeing him covered in blood and a terrible condition, no one could guess how hard he fought. No one dared get close to Alex as they gazed at the beast with wary eyes. While it is not too rare to hear of n taking mutant beasts as pets, many believed anyone that has the balls to do that is probably crazy.

The massive hellfire cat vanished in a cloud of red smoke, returning to its normal cat form. It jumped on Alex’s shoulder and then climbed on its head, leaving everyone stunned.

The cat let out a light cry as Alex saluted and general firestorm saluted as well. Seeing the proud smile on his face even Blaze felt moved. He has never gotten such a look from the old man all his life.

Alex laid on a beg with his body covered in bandages and his sounds cleaned. His eyes were a bit sunken due to exhaustion which truly made people believe he fought a battle of his life just to survive. He was covered with a white blanket and the cat snuck in too.

General firestorm walked in and saw Alex and the cat covered completely with only their heads revealed, he couldn’t help but laugh. He and the rest of the world are led to believe that the Briggs are cold-blooded killing machines made to only destroy but whenever he looks at Alex he feels like they have been lied to all this while.

“Thank you for saving my grandson... You could have easily used your team as bait and escaped... Coming back alone, you can easily co up with any story and we will be forced to believe it... I won’t forget this favor” General firestorm said calmly with a slight bow, leaving him stunned.

“For a grumpy old man, you really love your grandson? Shocking” Alex said and the cat owed. It looked like it was laughing.

“You little punk...” General firestorm’s face was bright red.

“Co on now, are you really going to get mad at the person you just thanked right now? Didn’t you say you owe one?” Alex said with a raised eyebrow.

“You little devil... are you sure you are one of the Briggs?” General firestorm said, choking with anger.

“No, I’m not ” Alex said coldly and the atmosphere in the room turned from cheerful to silent.

“You must have co across a few suggestions that may say my relationship with the Briggs is not as good as it seems....” Alex added calmly.

The general sighed and walked closer. He took a sit on Alex’s bed and looked into his eyes.

“You are really planning on going against the Briggs? This is no different from a death sentence... you need to think this through” General firestorm said calmly.

“What will you do if the fate of this country is controlled by a higher being.... This county is pushed and pulled and turned into a re slave... will you stand and watch, or will you fight for its freedom as a general of the United States?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.

“Of course, I will fight... it is my duty!” General firestorm replied without hesitation.

“Then isn’t it my duty to break free from those who see as a tool instead of a person? Do you think I’m doing sothing I shouldn’t?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.

General firestorm frowned and remained silent no matter what, he didn’t know how to answer the question.

“All I need now is your support... when the ti cos and you feel I am worthy to stand as the newest mber of the big four, under a new family na, feel free to support ... but if you think I still don’t have what it takes by then, I won’t bla you if you abandon ” Alex said weakly.

The general nodded and left the room. Only. Then did Alex exhale? He wanted to call Tracy but he felt too weak, slowly he was overco by sleep and his consciousness faded.

A few supervisors had returned to the battle scene where Alex and the serpent fought and they were stunned. Seeing buildings destroyed and crushed entirely to their believed this is sothing the tiger threat level mutant can do but seeing buildings uprooted and moved from their original location to sowhere else is sothing even the snake cannot do.

They wondered if Alex had help from an outside force because after returning to the scene his story didn’t seem so reliable anymore. Everything was reported to general firestorm who sat down in silence and said nothing for a while.

Thinking hard he couldn’t help but laugh a bit. Why was he so disturbed? If Alex dares go against the Briggs should he have a secret or two?

“Close the case... Search for the shadow venom serpent be that is top priority now” The old man said with an amused tone.

Alex’s eyes slowly opened and he felt soone’s arms around him. His vision was still a bit blurry and foggy so it took a while before he could understand who it was.

Tracy laid on the bed beside them, holding him that tightly. He guessed she can down to Virginia the mont he called her. She probably got here only after he slept off.

His eyes seed unfocused as he looked at the phone she gave to him and saw over fifty missed calls. He felt guilty but when he picked up his main phone and searched for the news he saw the video of his standoff with the mighty threat level serpent mutant beast trending

It easily reached millions of views just in a matter of hours. At first, people thought it was fake but after the news was confird by the military, everyone was stunned.

The fact that Alex fought sothing like this and escaped is already outstanding in their books. His fa was fast-growing and many people believed he would face Cherry for the third ti!

Alex read the comnts and smiled. With the backing of general firestorm and his popularity, he had more freedom now to do as he wishes. If he is able to back it up with substantial strength and reveals his dual deviant abilities, even Wilder Briggs won’t touch him with the country backing him

The problem now is that revealing this too early only ans he will end up becoming a tool for the country. If he didn’t have sufficient strength to back up this power, the country will reduce him to a re tool in exchange for their protection. He will lose his normal life and he is sure counterasures will be placed so that when he gets strong enough he won’t go against them.

“When did you get a cat?” She asked with a spooked look on her face leading Alex to believe she was scared of cats.

“This is the beast I told you about... I call him little beast” Alex said calmly and the cat owed happily.
