Gruvv looked at Shiloh who was sleeping. Every night he would co to Shiloh’s room, releasing his pheromones as advised by the doctor. Their talk this afternoon with Shiloh left a strange feeling in his heart.
Over the past few days, Gruvv had not missed a beat in trying to get back to Shiloh. After his conversation with Bethany to explain Shiloh’s condition, Gruvv tried to follow her lead.
Bethany didn’t want Shiloh to rember what happened to him after he turned sixteen.
"What if Shiloh rembers?" Asked Gruvv that day, Bethany sat on the sofa in his room. Sipping tea in the cup Ian had served, they were talking after Ian had told Gruvv about what happened to Shiloh.
There were many considerations that Bethany told Gruvv why she didn’t want Shiloh to know what happened to him after turning sixteen. Bethany didn’t want all that trauma to co back to Shiloh. But the man felt that not telling Shiloh and lying to him was not the right thing to do.
"Shiloh won’t rember it, the doctor said that the trauma because he got raped that day was so traumatic that he won’t be able to recover his mories."
Bethany told Shiloh all the lies she had told. About the accident, about Seth and many others. There was an uncomfortable feeling that Gruvv felt, like sothing was wrong.
So when Shiloh told him that he felt confused after waking up from a long sleep and eting people who claid to know him even though he didn’t rember anything make Gruvv had mixed feelings.
Shiloh opened his eyes as Gruvv was looking out the window, he was still sitting on Shiloh’s bed, holding the man’s hand. He did not notice Shiloh waking up.
In that mont, Shiloh stared at Gruvv’s back.
The only person he felt so familiar with was this man. Shiloh could feel those big hands grasping him gently, he could sll the sweet tangerine-like scent. How could a man with a big body and scary face give off such a sweet scent?
"Is that your pheromone’s sll?"
Gruvv jumped on the spot at the question, he turned his head slowly. Their eyes t under the dimness of the bed lamp that Gruvv had turned on when he entered this room earlier.
"What’s sll?
"Tangerine."
Gruvv held back all his feelings that almost ca out, he almost cried when he heard Shiloh’s answer. He rembered when Shiloh finally woke up after a long sleep when he had just rescued him from the brothel. That night, Shiloh also asked him the sa question.
"Can you sll that scent?"
Shiloh nodded from underneath the blanket.
Gruvv smiled a little, "Ah, sorry I held your hand." He said as he pulled the hand away, but Shiloh held it back.
"It’s okay. It’s warm." He said with a chuckle.
Gruvv looked deeply at the man, he was glad Shiloh had not died that day. The person he heard died that day was Samuel Foster. But that didn’t an he should be grateful for what happened to Shiloh now. He didn’t know what to do, continue all the lies Bethany told Shiloh or tell him that they were lies?
Which is better? Letting Shiloh know what happened after he turned sixteen or burying it as deep as possible as if it didn’t happen?
"Do you do this to a lot?"
Shiloh looked up at him with perfectly rounded eyes, the lustrous eyelashes looking beautiful in the lamplight. Gruvv could feel his hand being held back by Shiloh from under the blanket.
"Yes, I often do this to you." He replied in a low voice.
Shiloh nodded again, he was still under the blanket, from his toes to his chin perfectly covered. He curled up, making his body invisible.
"I’m sorry." Gruvv said, he looked down while Shiloh was still observing him. Gruvv wanted to say sothing but he had to think about choosing the right words, after all the one in front of him was a sixteen-year-old teenager.
"What for?" Shiloh asked, his eyes winking to show he wanted to know the rest.
"You know, after we talked today. I feel bad for you. You woke up and found out that you already have a child and are also pregnant, not to ntion you have to face the fact that you are now marked and knotted by an Alpha that you don’t even rember or you don’t know." Gruvv said to Shiloh, he did not look at Shiloh when he said that long sentence.
The guilt he now felt for lying to him and putting him in this condition made Gruvv feel even more inadequate.
Shiloh looked at Gruvv’s sad face, he then played with Gruvv’s intertwined fingers. He lowered the blanket and Gruvv could now see his face in its entirety.
"You know, I do feel uncomfortable when I know things have changed over seven years. And I don’t have those mories at all. Like I told you, not knowing anyone sucks." He stopped his words, then glanced at Gruvv, his smile looked so wide, "But seeing how you treat , seeing how you and Seth are so close and attached to each other, I think after eting you my life is much better."
Gruvv’s eyes widened at that. He wanted to hug Shiloh and kiss him, but he held back all those feelings. He returned Shiloh’s smile much wider. He would just wait for Shiloh to open his heart to him again, just like he used to wait for Shiloh before.
After that night’s conversation, they went through their days in a normal way. Seth stayed overnight in Shiloh’s room after getting permission from Maeve. Shiloh’s question about why Seth called Gruvv uncle was never answered and Shiloh decided not to question it.
In early fall, Shiloh gave birth to a baby girl. Gruvv was much better by then, he was able to walk without the help of a cane. He waited patiently in front of the labor room until the baby’s voice rang out.
A nurse ca out with a neatly wrapped baby, the baby was still red and crying loudly. He looked deeply at the baby, the baby who was proof that he and Shiloh loved each other. The baby that made him a better person, a new person.
Leaving behind all the bad traces of the past, making him want to move away from the old mories that have kept him confined and imprisoned. Being with Shiloh was his choice, even though Elina and Andrew said about the destined mate, but Gruvv was sure besides that, his love for Shiloh was pure. There was no attraction because of pheromones, everything was based on what they went through together.
He kissed the baby, whispering between the baby’s tiny ears.
"Welco to the world, baby.."
