The rehire was based on another investigation request from the NYPD, so theoretically, there was nothing wrong with it.

As for dia opinion guidance—once you’re in the spotlight, there will always be dia coming out to say sothing.

Would the military or the governnt demand access to the genetic editing technology—they’d love to, but the governnt and companies only truly work together when they’re exploiting civilians and collecting taxes.

You could say many companies sponsor senators or the president for elections, but that’s a lot of companies. If one company wants officials to handle tasks for them, there will always be another company’s politicians watching.

For example, if you want to invest in such technology, you need Congress’s approval, and then the funds are allocated—whoever reviews it, there’s a record of it.

Not only are there records, but the political donations your senator receives are also clear; it is obvious which company wants to take action.

If the money yields no results, or results in sothing like the "Lizard Man" monster, it becos ammunition for political opponents.

Even in fiercely opposing factions, if you are tangentially involved, it becos a target for your political enemies.

The Osborne Group does have friends in politics, but politics is not their private domain.

So, politicians would avoid such issues—instead of having the governnt officially handle the technology just after the Lizard Man wreaked havoc in New York, right?

Political opponents would not miss this chance, imdiately blaring—

The public would definitely be suspicious: What is the governnt trying to do?

Doing this kind of thing, do you still want votes?

Protest warnings?

Even if so companies are envious, the sponsored politicians are not fools, and not every job can be done. Completing this deal might result in a loss of office, it’s short-sighted exploitation.

As for those politically-driven interest groups, they would also be restrained by similar political concerns.

Is it politically worth risking such pharmaceutical creations to create monsters?

Political players don’t care much for personal power; they don’t like uncontrollable monsters. With that money, they might as well buy so missiles from Stark Industries, everyone loves watching anti-terrorism efforts.

Ultimately, the United States governnt is not unified. Now that the matter is in the spotlight, it becos inconvenient for them to use direct official thods.

The only sowhat convenient entity is the NYPD, and the contact person is the rigid George.

Lille had no political power to lose, so it was better to fully disclose the matter; it would be difficult to exert pressure later.

It’s like a small tycoon keeping a few mistresses; people find it normal. But if a mayor does the sa, it becos a scandal.

The ethical situation and chaotic conditions here don’t compare to the Cyberpunk World, and monopolies in various industries haven’t truly ford yet, so relatively speaking, there is more room for lawful developnt.

Furthermore...the principles of DNA editing technology can actually be disclosed and written into papers. Lille was now considering publishing part of the results to attract so attention.

What truly needed to be kept confidential in biotechnology were the bio-DNA algorithms, the synthesis thods of serum, the various proteins used for cutting, their corresponding codon sequences, and the guiding RNA information.

Lille and Conners insisted that the successful cultivation of the genetically modified lizard was an accident, and they had no choice—the United States governnt had no precedent for arresting people over this.

The Osborne Group might be very interested—but if the Lizard Serum was used to treat Harry, it had already been shown not to be very effective.

Additionally, if the tragedy at Lab Three was related to the Osborne Group, it would only prove they got the serum from the lizard and reverse-engineered it. The completeness and effectiveness were far lower compared to his own, and the refinent would take a lot of ti.

And ti is money.

So instead of worrying about soone using power against him, Lille needed to be more concerned about so villainous organizations acting covertly.

After walking out of the courtroom, Lille encountered a smiling man in a suit who showed his credentials:

The Strategic Holand Intervention, Enforcent, and Logistics Division, commonly known as the Shield Bureau.

"Mr. Lee, pleased to et you. I’m Phil Coulson, responsible for understanding additional details of the case."

Lille shook his head, "All details were stated in court. You’re professionals; it’s clear Peter didn’t hide anything."

"No, we ant the parts he forgot."

"You an the part where Spider Woman caught the Lizard Man. What do you want to know?"

"Actually, it’s about your part. We found your hospital records and noted that within several months of waking up, you beca a super-genius, deeply collaborating with the NYPD, and contributing to the developnt of the Lizard Serum.

Did you inject yourself with Lizard Serum?"

"No—no offense, but you don’t seem like a blind person."

"Or any similar things?"

Lille glanced helplessly at Coulson, "Do you think Tony Stark or his father injected him with smart drugs?"

Coulson, unfazed, smiled, "Amusing, I like it—We care about every such anomaly. We want to know how much destruction the Lizard Man could cause."

"A lot—you’ve already seen it. The best solution is to prevent the Lizard Man from appearing in society.

You seem like so kind of special agency, so I have a tip for you: a genetically modified lizard is missing. You should pay attention to that."

"That’s...important information."

"Yes, very important, and even more so, there are only two companies that successfully completed cross-species gene splicing, including mine. I don’t need to spell it out, right?"

Coulson recorded the information—but Lille suspected they had already gotten this intelligence from the NYPD.

They would continue to investigate Lille, and they would continue to investigate the Osborne Group.

"Mr. Lee—I’ll be direct: Are you interested in working for us? You have impressive talent.

The Lizard Serum is an impressive invention, but it needs regulation, and we are the departnt that regulates these extraordinary items and technologies.

You can continue your research with our support. I’m sure you see the consequences of unregulated technology."

Lille gently shook his head, "I don’t need sponsorship, but I do need governnt departnts to fulfill their obligations—if regulating dangerous technology is your job, I’m willing to cooperate.

But I prefer to retain the independence of my research."

"Alright—I’ll note your opinion, but the Shield Bureau always welcos you. Leave a number?"

"Of course."

The two shook hands, and Coulson once again showed his signature smile.

Before leaving, he added, "Mr. Lee, here’s so advice—it’s extrely difficult to maintain independence in the current turbulent world. If you change your mind, rember to contact us."

Lille watched Coulson get into a black sedan and drive away.

Just as Coulson had said, the world indeed was not peaceful.

Tony Stark, fresh from Afghanistan, was still selling arms, and the "War on Terror" was not over yet.

He needed allies—and allies needed him.

A black stretched limousine parked by the roadside, and out stepped a handso Asian man—

This man had handso features and a soft smile—and it was evident he was very wealthy.

The new financial star of Chinatown—Martin Lee.

"I am..."

"Martin Lee, I know. I guess you know too."

Martin was stunned for a second, then continued smiling, "You look like you were expecting ."

Lille also smiled, "To be precise, I was waiting for investors—then I searched online and found you; we share the sa surna."

"Indeed..." Martin responded emotionally, "Shall we talk?"

Lille nodded and got into the limousine.
