Laila shouted orders at Chishiki angrily, "Faster! At this speed, when will you ever hit the target?"

Chishiki raised her eyebrows.

She gritted her teeth and fired again at the distant target, deliberately missing the nearby one.

The bullets went far, leaving a few holes in the wall at the end.

With a frown, Laila walked over and impatiently adjusted Chishiki’s stance.

"Concentrate! If you want to improve, you really need to aim." Laila felt uneasy about Chishiki’s incompetence. Why could weak Chishiki be the true eldest daughter of the family, and she was not?

Chishiki hung her head, looking frustrated.

"I’m sorry, sister. I’m just... distracted today, I tried, but I... I can’t do it." Her voice was trembling, her breathing rapid, as if she were about to cry.

After all, she was still her little sister. Laila softened.

Seeing Chishiki about to cry, Laila’s expression softened: "What’s wrong?"

She patted Chishiki’s shoulder, all her anger evaporated into concern.

Chishiki avoided her gaze.

"It’s nothing. I just..." Chishiki let her words trail off into a trembling sigh.

"Tell ." Laila looked into her eyes, "You know, Chishiki, you can share anything with , sorry, I was too excited just now."

Chishiki didn’t like to make eye contact with Laila; her eyes were like heat rays.

She looked up, revealing a regretful smile.

"I feel like I’ll never reach your level, sister. Your talents are so strong, and I don’t have them." Chishiki’s voice was full of simple longing, "What use am I for this adventure?"

Laila’s eyes widened, her features flickered with surprise.

"Don’t say that! Since you want to co, and Dad agreed, it ans he thinks you’ll play a crucial role in this adventure!" Laila hugged Chishiki, trying to comfort her, "I’m sorry, I was too hasty earlier, thinking back, my first ti handling a gun was also less than stellar."

"I want your recognition, sister, I’m sorry... I just don’t have enough talent..." Chishiki sighed.

"It’s okay, you’ll always be my sister, I can protect you." Laila said firmly. To this obedient sister, Laila felt more acknowledged in her heart. After leaving the war, she had been lonely for a long ti, and Chishiki’s presence filled the void.

Chishiki smiled slightly, knowing she had elicited the desired reaction. With Laila exposing her true thoughts, Chishiki now had valuable insight into her sister’s heart. Knowledge is power, every piece collected might co in handy...

"I won’t qualify." Chishiki sighed.

"Stop talking about not qualifying. I’ll help you!" Laila’s eyes were bright and spirited.

"Yeah! Please help adjust my posture again, sister, stand behind , okay?" Chishiki said.

"No problem." Laila stood behind Chishiki.

Chishiki grinned, raised her weapon with new confidence and purpose, aiming at a new target.

Bam!

She hit the target every ti.

...

...

In the afternoon, Chishiki went with Xu Yang to participate in the astronaut gravity simulation training.

"Did you enjoy the shooting range?" Xu Yang asked.

"Yes~ with sister Laila always protecting and guiding !" Chishiki was overjoyed.

"Then we need to prepare for space soon." Xu Yang opened the entrance to the microgravity simulation facility.

As Chishiki strode into the astronaut training area, the centrifuges and simulators humd. Chishiki felt a little intimidated by those hundred-ter-high machines, they almost surpassed earthly mountains.

"The manual is clear, this is a simulation, simpler than real combat, you won’t enter the spinning drum on your first try." Xu Yang took out a virtual helt, "Ready?"

"No problem, Father." Chishiki smiled at Xu Yang from inside the training cabin.

Raising a cherished Chishiki was indeed a delight, Xu Yang also found Chishiki adorable, who doesn’t like having a beautiful girl call them father? He placed the helt on Chishiki.

Instantly, Chishiki’s vision transford, finding herself still in place, just ready to enter the cabin, and Xu Yang was nowhere visible.

"Dad?" Chishiki asked anxiously.

"I’m here." Xu Yang, unseen, guided her into the centrifuge cabin using a virtual voice. "This is virtual, not real, starting from 2G upwards. Do your best."

"It’s virtual..." Chishiki entered the facility, amazed at the virtual effect, it felt as real as entering an actual space simulation facility.

Chishiki put on her test suit, sitting on the swinging wall of the centrifuge, the hatch hissed closed.

The machine started, testing multiple gravity levels.

She could distinctly feel the acceleration increasing, Chishiki tightened her seatbelt, pressing her back against the cushioned seat. Her heartbeat quickened, adrenaline surged.

Xu Yang’s voice continued to sound

"How does it feel? Any discomfort?"

"No problem, Father." Chishiki watched the scenery changing in circles before her.

It’s spinning!

Chishiki gritted her teeth against the rapidly increasing gravity, the spinning speed and dizziness intensified.

"Are you okay?" Xu Yang asked.

"I’m fine!" Chishiki shouted.

The weight increased to 3G. The pressure was mounting, the harness squeezed her body. But it was still within tolerable limits. Chishiki could endure more.

"4G gravity. Report status."

As the centrifuge spun faster, her vision broadened, was she about to take off or lose her mind? Chishiki felt she might be flung to the ground anyti, smashed into at paste.

This reminded her of her fragility, but she refused to relent.

"Continue——!" Chishiki shouted, feeling like the tip of a spinning top.

Xu Yang paused.

"Are you sure?" Xu Yang’s surprise was obvious.

Chishiki clenched her fists, her nails digging into her palms. She imagined her father watching, judging her belief strength.

"Continue!" Chishiki shouted.

The centrifuge accelerated, blurring. Her body strained to keep up, her heartbeat buzzed in her ears, the world spun crazily.

Who knows how long passed... Xu Yang’s voice was like a blessed relief to Chishiki.

"Reached maximum safe load. Well done!" Xu Yang shouted.

Finally——!

The centrifuge began to decelerate, the pressure gradually releasing. Chishiki was nearly ecstatic and shrieking inside, it was over! It was over!

When Chishiki regained her balance, she was already soaked with sweat.

Light and shadow changed before her eyes, losing the virtual helt, she collapsed, Xu Yang quickly caught her. Chishiki saw she was still in the virtual cabin, indeed it had been a virtual test.

Stars danced in her eyes, the world spun, her insides felt churned. Luckily, all was a virtual illusion, a lie of the nerves. She felt half-mad, the base was truly astonishing.

Her limbs trembled, drenched in sweat, but she had triumphed.

"Can I go to Proxima Centauri?" Chishiki weakly asked.

"Yes!" Xu Yang nodded affirmatively.

...

...

Chishiki slept through the afternoon, sleeping off the dreadful gravity test, then only slowly recovered.

She flipped through her notes, Bubble. Teasing Bubble should be a good way to ease the tension, to forget the fear from the gravity test.

In the evening, Chishiki went to the restaurant to eat, already used to earning money while eating, and also had to find Bubble.

The canteen was bustling with lively conversation forming a rhythm. Indeed, Bubble was there, sitting alone in a corner, quietly having dinner.

Chishiki loaded her tray and walked to Bubble’s isolated table. Seeing Bubble’s surprised expression, Chishiki’s smile widened instantly.

"Sister, do you mind if I sit across from you?" Chishiki asked gently.
