Xu Cheng held his breath.
Laila stepped forward. Though small in stature and younger than Xu Cheng, she seed to carry considerable authority among the witches.
"Lady Laila!"
"The Frontline ssenger has delivered the cargo."
"Do we deliver it to your room?" The Battle Witches flattered Laila, as always.
Laila glanced at Xu Cheng and then turned to casually converse with the other witches.
Xu Cheng blinked, shocked and angry.
Ignoring !!
Has she completely forgotten about ? It seems Xu Cheng is nothing more than a delivery drone, completing its task and left behind!
Childhood enmity, opposition, battles—they seem to have vanished from Laila’s mory. Were we not arch-enemies?
At this mont, Laila appeared very leader-like in front of Xu Cheng, issuing orders to witches far taller than herself, with poise.
Her gaze held wisdom and rationality beyond her years, her equipnt impeccable—from smart laser rifles to magic battle blades, she had it all.
How many battles had she fought? Xu Cheng did not know.
Xu Cheng sneered; regardless, Laila could not just ignore her.
"Hey!" Xu Cheng took off her mask, angrily facing Laila, "Rember ?"
The shout surprised the other witches, and Laila turned to look at Xu Cheng.
"Wow—" Laila exclaid with delight, sounding to Xu Cheng like mockery.
Little Fool!
"Do you rember ? Or have you completely forgotten?" Xu Cheng crossed her arms, furious.
Laila blinked and then let out a cheerful whistle.
"Of course I rember you, that little fool, but I don’t have ti to argue with you now. I need to drink so supplents to restore my magic power." Laila laughed.
She opened the supply box Xu Cheng had delivered, took out a bottle of ntal stimulant, and gulped it down, rapidly replenishing her magic power.
Xu Cheng glared at Laila, angry and frustrated.
Laila seed to have utterly forgiven their past hatred and disagreents, focused entirely on her current work.
Xu Cheng brooded over past troubles, while Laila appeared to have grown beyond such trivial concerns.
Doesn’t that make Xu Cheng seem petty?
Why?
You should be bullying people like before!
"Here, keep this package safe; you worked the hardest. Well done." Laila calmly distributed the supplies Xu Cheng brought, and the other witches obeyed her arrangents without question.
This person... she’s nothing like the aggressive one she was as a child. Xu Cheng mused.
The other witches had witnessed Laila’s power—laser eyes, also known as the crimson God’s Wrath Beam, the magic beam from Laila’s eyes could easily sever a "Demon Lizard" hover tank as a part of the Lighthouse Core.
Xu Cheng felt a bit bitter.
Laila had completely forgotten the "archenemy" Xu Cheng from those days.
Or perhaps she had surpassed Xu Cheng by a long shot.
Laila shone brightly at the frontlines, while little Xu Cheng was rely a delivery girl!
Xu Cheng silently walked back to the Divine Radiance, seeking comfort from the Star Weaving Lady.
She heard footsteps approaching.
Laila strode in, wordlessly boarding the Divine Radiance.
By this ti, the supplies had been distributed.
Xu Cheng was taken aback, ready to kick Laila off the Divine Radiance, glaring at her, "What do you want!"
Laila stared at Xu Cheng, "Where’s your next stop?"
"Anchorage POW Camp." Xu Cheng checked her handheld tablet.
POW Camp! The place where New Taixi State’s captured soldiers were detained.
Laila t Xu Cheng’s gaze levelly, placing her helt on the white surface of the shuttle machine, as if she had made the Divine Radiance her new ho.
"I’ll accompany you, the POW Camp is too close to the frontline by the Lighthouse Core; you need an escort." Laila said, glancing at the Divine Radiance, "Besides, operating such a big shuttle alone is too exhausting."
Xu Cheng felt incredulous, frustration and resentnt stirred in her heart.
How could Laila ignore their archenemy relationship and just co to help uninvited?
"Ugh." Xu Cheng needed to remind Laila, "If it weren’t for you running rampant at the Witch Academy, I’d still be in school!"
Because she loathed Laila at the academy, Xu Cheng left, eventually hating any form of learning, and ended up as an uneducated pilot.
Any virtue Xu Cheng had today had nothing to do with Laila, but her lack of education was absolutely Laila’s fault.
"Really? That was when we were four or five years old, right? We can live over 150 years, don’t dwell on it." Laila said casually.
"You!"
"Believe , I’m not here to cause trouble, I’m here to help. We’ve known each other for so long, and Mother Farosa looks after us, let’s be good friends." Laila said sincerely.
"Hey!" Xu Cheng sat in the seat and started the engine.
The Divine Radiance swiftly crossed the canyon, arriving at a plain burned into glass.
The earth had burned for several hours, cooling at night to form large areas of irregular molten terrain, crystallizing into glowing turquoise crystals.
"I was fighting here during the day, Mother defeated Idith, and we pursued them victorious." Laila looked around, "Look, there are many pits I made out there, they used to contain vehicles I destroyed, but now they’re gone, must have been hauled off by logistics."
