The more polite Xing Bailun was, the worse Zhu Qianying felt.
Since Xing Bailun had made everything clear, Zhu Qianying couldn’t pretend to be unaware anymore.
“Aaron, since everything is sorted out, can we just act as if this never happened? I feel guilty about this whole thing, and you thanking
over and over again just makes everyone feel uncomfortable.”
There was silence on the other end of the phone from Xing Bailun before he finally spoke, “Sure, let’s leave the past in the past. When you’re free, I just have to be busy for the next couple of days then I’ll have so spare ti. Do you want to go horse riding this Saturday? We could invite Qi Xiao and the others.”
Zhu Qianying considered, she didn’t have anything else going on, so she agreed.
“Okay, let’s tentatively settle on that. Let
know when you’ve decided the ti. You haven’t been sleeping well these past few days, have you? If there’s nothing else, go ho and rest early, don’t push yourself.”
Xing Bailun’s voice sounded tired, a bit raspy. At first listen, you’d think he had a cold.
But Zhu Qianying knew that he didn’t have a cold, he was just worn out from work.
“I understand. At my age, I really should get a good rest.”
Zhu Qianying rarely caught him joking about his age, so she couldn’t help but tease him back, “Oh, Eldest Young Master Xing at your age, you’re still in the pri of your life. Wasn’t there a group of girls who confessed their love for you who could form a line all the way around L City recently? Why are you suddenly so lancholic?”
Xing Bailun laughed, “That all depends on who you compare with. Compared to a twenty-year-old unmarried young woman like you, I really am old!”
The two of them joked with each other for a while in a light-hearted manner before hanging up the phone.
anwhile, Zhu Qianying who had been ho for two or three days, was prepared to go out on Saturday with Xing Bailun and the others for a break. Over at Yan Shao’s place, the date to take the wedding photos was also set.
“Master, should I call Miss Zhu?”
Qin Xiu wasn’t certain about the current status of the relationship between Yan Shao and Zhu Qianying. Emotionally, things seed to be going well, but there seed to be a lack of the intimacy and sweetness that a couple should have.
After the limited-edition al the other day, Qin Xiu assud that he wouldn’t have to worry about Yan Shao’s lunch anymore. But the next day, Yan Shao, as usual, asked him to order takeout.
Qin Xiu tried to casually probe for information, and the conclusion he reached was sowhat unexpected. In these past few days, Yan Shao hadn’t so much as made a single phone call to Zhu Qianying, let alone seen her in person.
Is his Master genuinely inexperienced, or simply not interested in the relationship?
It’s common sense to strike while the iron is hot. His Master definitely knows this. And wasn’t his relationship with Zhu Qianying just heating up a few days ago? How did it cool down so suddenly?
Qin Xiu couldn’t figure out his Master’s love life, so naturally, he didn’t dare say anything. And now that the date to take the wedding photos has been set, he naturally assud that it would be up to him to inform Zhu Qianying.
Yan Shao had his head lowered, signing docunts. Upon hearing Qin Xiu’s words, the hand holding the pen paused for a mont, then he raised his head and said to him, “I’ll do it.”
Qin Xiu let out a small sigh of relief. In the end, he couldn’t resist to speak up about sothing he’d been holding back for a few days.
“Master, you and Miss Zhu seem to… be getting along really well…”
This ti Yan Shao didn’t raise his head and rely let out a noncommittal grunt, which was hard to interpret.
Qin Xiu wasn’t bothered by his Master’s inconsistent mood swings. At the mont, he felt that Zhu Qianying was a great person in every aspect and was well-matched with his Master.
Most importantly, she was considerate, sensible, knew when to advance and when to retreat, unlike Miss Yi…
“Master, I hope you won’t take it the wrong way if I speak more bluntly. No matter how good a relationship is, it still needs to be maintained. Like my girlfriend, it’s just basic to have a phone call every day, exchange a couple of texts a day. If I couldn’t even et these simple requirents, she’d be upset with !”
Finally, Yan Shao raised his head and dismissively retorted, “That just ans you’re too soft!”
And then he buried his head back in the docunts.
“Master, trust
on this, Miss Zhu is a woman, isn’t she? And all won love this kind of thing!”
Yan Shao curved his lip, “As if you know her so well. What I have with her is not the sa as you and your girlfriend.”
Qin Xiu was taken aback, after a while, he said, “What about Miss Yi…”
Upon hearing this, Yan Shao’s face visibly darkened, “Why bring her up! Don’t you have anything better to do? The developnt case from D province is due in the afternoon, be ready.”
Qin Xiu left the room looking as though he was in so sort of pain, almost wishing he could slap himself. Cursing himself for his loose tongue, out of all things, why did he have to bring up Miss Yi?
It wasn’t until he was ready to sleep in the bathtub after his evening al, that Yan Shao rembered he had yet to call Zhu Qianying.
He picked up the phone and dialed her number.
“Good evening, Yan Shao.” Zhu Qianying’s crisp voice ca through, instantly dispelling much of the drowsiness Yan Shao had gotten from his bath.
“We’re taking the wedding photos the day after tomorrow. I’ll pick you up at eight. Make sure to eat a lot, we might not get a chance to eat all day.”
Yan Shao hadn’t considered that Zhu Qianying might have other plans. So, when he didn’t receive an imdiate confirmation from her, he furrowed his eyebrows, “What? You’re busy?”
“No… nothing, okay, wait for
outside the gate at eight.”
Zhu Qianying’s hesitation didn’t seem like she had “nothing” planned. However, since she agreed, it ant she would reschedule whatever she had, and that was enough.
“Okay! Hang up now!”
“Good night!”
The two hung up almost simultaneously.
Zhu Qianying stared at her phone. She rembered reading sowhere about a long-distance couple who were deeply in love. The guy would always wait for the girl to hang up first before he could feel at ease to hang up.
From that perspective, it seed that her feelings for Yan Shao really weren’t that profound!
With a self-deprecating laugh, Zhu Qianying picked up her phone and called Xing Bailun to apologize.
Of course, she didn’t ntion that her reason for cancelling was because she was taking wedding photos with Yan Shao. After all, Xing Bailun had already revealed his feelings for her, saying that would be like rubbing salt in his wound.
However, her not saying it didn’t an Xing Bailun didn’t think that way.
“You made plans with Yan Shao, right? Okay, I understand. We can make plans another ti!”
Previously, Xing Bailun would always wait for Zhu Qianying to hang up before he did. This ti however, he hung up in a huff first.
Zhu Qianying, aware of her own fault, didn’t have the heart to call back and say anything. Instead, she texted Xing Bailun, “I’m sorry. Next ti I’ll treat you to a al. Let’s have a good ti.”
She sent the ssage and got no reply.
She had always thought that childish behaviors were far from a person like Xing Bailun.
But reality proved that she might not understand Xing Bailun as well as she thought.
Not replying to a ssage like this was common for Yan Shao, but for Xing Bailun, this was the first ti he had ignored her ssage since she t him five or six years ago.
However, there’s no such thing as truly understanding soone else. Besides, when the environnt changes, when the mood changes, when the relationship changes, people change as well.
