Chapter 26: Chapter 26: She Needs to be Ignored for a While

How many tis had it happened? The last ti he flew to H City due to his mother’s incident, Qin Xiu was the one she had called, not him.

And this ti, she disappeared without a word for half a month. Once she resurfaced, wouldn’t it have been logical to report to him, her future “husband”, first? Why had she instead called Qin Xiu?

“Why didn’t she call ?” Not noticing the sudden shift in his expression, Yan asked Qin Xiu coldly.

Qin Xiu grimaced, unwittingly breaking into a cold sweat, “Well… Maybe Miss Zhu didn’t want to disturb your work?”

Qin Xiu felt like his last na should be Shi, and his first na, Gandang, breaking all adversities.

Ignoring his responses, Yan, obviously dissatisfied with Qin Xiu’s explanation, wore a frosty expression.

Reading the situation, Qin Xiu decided not to provoke him further, cautiously closed the passenger-side door, climbed into the driver’s seat, and drove back to the company in silence.

Qin Xiu thought that once Yan had cooled down, he would ask about Zhu Qianying, but after giving his frosty inquiries, he continued to work in silence on the back seat without uttering another word. When they returned to the office, Qin Xiu cautiously brought her up again.

“Sir, about Miss Zhu…”

“Out with it!” Yan commanded impatiently.

Qin Xiu slightly regretted not recording his conversation with Zhu Qianying. That way, he could have just played it back to Yan, instead of having to endure his cold deanor and suspicions.

“Miss Zhu said she’s back in L City. She needs to sleep well to catch up on her rest today, and if it’s convenient for you and the lady, she would like to pay a visit to the two old individuals tomorrow evening.”

Having nervously completed his sentence, Qin Xiu expected Yan to curtly reply with a dismissive “No ti.”

Unexpectedly, despite Yan’s forbidding aura, he remained silent and didn’t turn him down.

So, did that an there was hope?

“Sir, if there’s no problem tomorrow night, can I reply to her? Let her prepare?” Qin Xiu asked again, cautiously.

Yan continued to keep silent, flipping through the materials in his hand as if he hadn’t heard Qin Xiu’s words at all.

Being continually brushed off without a response, Qin Xiu wondered if Zhu Qianying’s unannounced disappearance for over ten days had angered Yan?

Was he planning to give her the cold shoulder as a punishnt?

Or, did he want to break off their arrangent altogether?

Unable to figure out Yan’s intentions and unable to get a response, Qin Xiu could only stand and wait in front of Yan’s desk.

After what felt like an eternity, Yan finally gave a nonchalant command, “Have her call !”

Despite his calm tone, Qin Xiu knew Zhu Qianying had really angered Yan this ti. He guessed Yan’s anger must still be stuck in his throat, neither subsiding nor exploding, hence, the demand for her to call him personally.

Otherwise, Yan wouldn’t give a damn about unimportant matters.

Having received Yan’s clear response, Qin Xiu turned and started to leave.

“Make the call here!” Yan’s voice suddenly commanded from behind.

Qin Xiu inwardly groaned, quickly turned around, and tried to explain, “Sir, I thought calling Zhu Qianying might disturb her rest.”

Qin Xiu felt certain there was a misunderstanding on Yan’s part, which was why Yan insisted he call Zhu Qianying in his presence.

Qin Xiu inwardly rolled his eyes, tempted to retort, ‘Why don’t you call her yourself if you’re so concerned?’

However, he dared only to grumble silently. If he said it out loud, Yan would surely make his life miserable.

“Text her.” Yan, once again, behaved as if words were golden.

Allowing a text ssage ca as a surprise to Qin Xiu.

Anyone who knew Yan would know how little he cared about others and how much he hated waiting.

Waiting for soone or a response was a privilege only the venerable Mada Yan was allowed to enjoy.

As for others, Qin Xiu hadn’t seen a second person receive such treatnt.

Could Zhu Qianying have already beco the second special person in Yan’s heart so quickly?

While Qin Xiu was lost in his thoughts, he didn’t waste any ti. He quickly crafted a text ssage and handed his phone to Yan, “Sir, is this okay?”

Glancing over, Yan skimd the contents, “Miss Zhu, please call Yan back as soon as you receive this ssage.”

“Hmm…”

With a slight nod from Yan, Qin Xiu breathed a sigh of relief, retrieved his phone, and sent the ssage.

After it displayed “ssage Sent” on his mobile screen, Qin Xiu passed his phone to Yan once more for final confirmation.

Normally, such a move would result in a scathing “fussy like a woman” reprimand from Yan.

Yet today, Yan took a cursory glance at the screen.

Reclaiming his phone, Qin Xiu asked, “Sir, is there anything else?”

Yan waved his hand, shooing him away as if he were a pesky fly.

After sending Zhu Qianying a ssage via Qin Xiu, Yan assud that they would only get a call back later that night. After all, he was intimately familiar with how eager she was to catch up on sleep and how grumpy she could be when awakened.

A single ssage wouldn’t likely be enough to wake her up and, even if she did wake up, it might not be enough to capture her attention.

However, his private number, known only to a select few, started ringing just as Qin Xiu was leaving the room.

Yan’s first thought was that it was a call from his mother.

Picking up his phone, he discovered it wasn’t. The unfamiliar number wasn’t stored in his phone book. However, he recognized it – it was Zhu Qianying’s number; she had disappeared for half a month.

Yan stared at the blinking light on his screen but showed no intention of answering.

She was so brazen to keep him waiting for half a month. Surely, it wouldn’t hurt to keep her waiting for a few dozen seconds.

He left the ringing phone on his desk, ignoring the continuous rings. As it finally stopped ringing, he still made no move to pick it up.

In his view, the unpredictable and whimsical Zhu Qianying was deserving of this cold shoulder.

Initially, he assud that if he didn’t answer, Zhu Qianying would call again.

But following the stop of the ringing, ten seconds passed, then thirty, then a minute, two minutes, five minutes…

The phone lay unmoving on the desk in silence.

Yan initially remained calm, even going as far as to plan how to reprimand her when she did call so as to make her more obedient and well-behaved.

After all, she now belonged to him, Yan. She couldn’t just co and go as she pleased without uttering a word.

She was even more careless and impulsive than his mother!

He needed her to understand that while he had no control over her past actions.

Starting from today, she had to follow and obey his commands and could not behave recklessly.

However, his carefully crafted speech found no audience. The phone remained eerily silent.

Unsurprisingly, Yan’s frustration, compounded by the repressed anger, began to rise.
