Chapter 109: Chapter 109: Emotions can be tiring

In Yan Shao’s view, his parents are quite affectionate towards each other.

But even with such deep affection, didn’t they both waste half of their lives for this so-called unforgettable love?

He didn’t hear much about his dad and mom’s love story from them directly. Most of it, he heard from his grandfather.

And whenever his grandfather spoke of his dad and mom, it was usually with a strong sense of resentnt.

It’s understandable for the old man of the Yan family to be resentful. After all, he had reached such high ranks in his official career, with practically nothing left to pursue. He then hoped for a completely perfect family.

His family, in the eyes of outsiders, seed perfectly complete.

Unfortunately, this applied to outsiders. For him, the old man of the Yan family, it was far from enough.

Because his favorite youngest son didn’t pursue a career in civil service as he wished.

The old man of the Yan family had two sons and a daughter. The eldest son pursued a career in civil service and was basically the spitting image of his father, enjoying smooth sailing in his official career.

The second daughter beca an outstanding diplomat.

The youngest son was Yan Bo – Yan Shao’s dad.

Since childhood, Yan Bo had been widely acknowledged as intelligent. He had been endowed with great expectations by the Yan family who thought that, like generations of the Yan family before him, this generation too would follow suit.

Unexpectedly, Yan Bo founded his own company while studying abroad. When he returned to the country after completing his studies, he didn’t use any of the Yan family’s resources or money. He rapidly established a company, which in only a few years, beca one of the top enterprises in the country.

What was seen as a joyous affair by outsiders didn’t sit well with the old man of the Yan family.

Firstly, he held no fondness for the profession of a businessman sared with odors of greed. If his youngest son were to enter the civil service, everyone would strive to protect and pave his way to success.

Despite this, he quietly chose to enter business on his own, disregarding all of the valuable resources and strong connections that the Yan family had to offer. Wasn’t that crazy?

Secondly, aside from his dissatisfaction with Yan Bo’s career choice, the old man of the Yan family was even more aggravated by Yan Bo’s lover. In fact, she could even infuriate their ancestors in their graves.

Typically, as the son of a long-established family, Yan Bo’s lover should have been from a well-matched official family. If not, at the very least, a gentle, well-educated girl from a scholarly family would do.

But he chose the daughter of a tyrant instead. This term was coined by the old man of the Yan family. When he first heard that his son’s lover was the sole daughter of the Tong family, who had ruled L city for decades, his blood pressure skyrocketed, and the next day, there were reports on the news of a certain national leader being hospitalized due to overwork.

The stubborn old man spent over a decade trying to separate his youngest son from this tyrant’s daughter. But no matter what thods he used, his son and this girl remained inseparable. His son had even threatened that he would resist the old man till his last breath.

It wasn’t until his son and the girl were both in their thirties that the old man had to reluctantly agree. If they didn’t get married soon, his dream of cuddling his grandson would shatter.

In Yan Shao’s eyes, his parents’ love might be good, but to waste over a decade on such love was simply foolish. If it were him, he would definitely not do sothing so stupid.

Hence, in his opinion, love was always burdenso.

He didn’t see himself as his father and wouldn’t be a saint of love. Like his father, he would never do sothing as foolish as struggling with his family for over a decade because of a woman.

As for his wife, for the first twenty-eight years of his life, he never felt that he must have one. It wasn’t until his mom expressed her wish for a grandchild that he decided to find a daughter-in-law for her. Otherwise, where would the grandchild co from?

As for his mother’s pick for the grandchild’s mother, Yan Shao thought that as long as he liked her at first sight and didn’t find her boring to be with, that would be enough. Getting too emotionally involved would be exhausting!

Sure enough, just listening to Qin Xiu’s offbeat views at the mont was tiring for Yan Shao.

Of course, he didn’t deny that most won probably behaved like Qin Xiu’s girlfriend, very clingy, calling multiple tis and sending dozens of ssages every day.

But Zhu Qianying was different from those won. She would probably prefer if he didn’t call her for a month, then she would be happily carefree, and possibly live more leisurely.

After all, they had struck a deal, one for the sake of his mother and the other for money. When there was a problem that needed to be solved, they could join forces to tackle it. But when there was nothing to do, wouldn’t it be better to just do their own things separately?

Therefore, Qin Xiu’s words, instead of persuading Yan Shao as intended, reaffird Yan Shao’s own thoughts.

But at this mont, Yan Shao didn’t delve deeper or ponder on the fact that in his twenty-eight years of life, there were very few won who he found attractive and didn’t bore him.

And Zhu Qianying, whom Yan Shao viewed as different from other won, was currently visiting the Xing family.

Of course, she wasn’t alone. Qi Xiao and the others were with her.

The ones who invited them weren’t Xing Bailun, but his parents. They wanted to thank Zhu Qianying and the others for taking care of their injured son.

When Zhu Qianying received Xing Bailun’s call, she was in Book City reading a book. She instinctively wanted to reject when she heard the reason. But upon learning that the host was not Xing Bailun, she found it hard to refuse.

“Hello, Uncle Xing, Aunt Xing!”

Zhu Qianying was always modest and courteous towards elders, of course, except for her overly domineering aunts and her scumbag father in the Zhu family.

“Ying Zi, why haven’t you visited us in a while?”

Madam Xing was an elegant middle-aged lady who always treated Zhu Qianying kindly. The mont she saw Zhu Qianying walk through the door, she went up to her, held her hand and asked affectionately.

“Mom, Ying Zi has to work. Where would she get so much free ti to visit us?”

Xing Bailun, who was seated in a wheelchair, explained on Zhu Qianying’s behalf before she could respond.

But actually, everyone knew that Miss Zhu, the fifth daughter of the Zhu family, was assigned by her eldest brother to work as a waitress in their hotel after graduating from university. Yet, she had quit after only a few days.

One can understand why it was so. Being a top student of the L University’s Hospitality Managent program as well as the chairperson of the Student Union, she was famous on campus. Yet, she was expected to work as a waitress in her own family’s hotel. Anyone would have a hard ti swallowing that.

Since then, Miss Zhu, in the eyes of outsiders, has always been leisurely doing nothing.

So, when Madam Xing heard Xing Bailun’s explanation, she took it as her son shielding Zhu Qianying, so she didn’t pursue the matter and led Zhu Qianying into the living room.

“Ying Zi, I bought so trinkets a while ago. Please help

evaluate them later.”
