Chapter 1242: Riding for a Fall! (1)
The outer space of the Great Cosmic Continent of Sagittarius, where the massive war fleet was hovering like countless stars.
At this moment, deep within the heart of the Mythical Coalition’s colossal flagship, there was a chamber that no one entered without permission. Strangely enough, this chamber didn’t seem to be part of the flagship at all.
The chamber was silent, not the ordinary silence of an empty room, but the oppressive stillness of a place that had witnessed countless rituals through the ages.
Black stone pillars rose into darkness beyond sight, each engraved with ancient symbols that seemed to pulse faintly beneath the surface. Dim golden-blue flames burned within hanging braziers, their light neither warm nor cold, casting elongated shadows across the vast hall.
At the center of the chamber stood an altar forged from translucent crystal, resembling frozen time itself. Upon that altar rested an ancient idol. Its appearance was difficult to describe.
The statue possessed a vaguely humanoid shape, draped in flowing robes, yet the robes seemed woven from countless overlapping streams of liquid light. The figure’s face remained hidden beneath an eternal veil, pletely obscuring its features.
Behind it floated a magnificent circular halo resembling an endless wheel posed of innumerable hourglass-like symbols. Some seemed full, others empty, while countless more remained frozen somewhere in between.
The idol radiated neither holiness nor evil; instead, it embodied something deeper, something eternal, something that existed beyond the concepts of beginning and end.
If Jacob were here, he would’ve instantly recognized this idol for it was a Trace Faith Idol similar to the one he had encountered within the Holy Justice Citadel, and this Trace Faith Idol definitely didn’t belong to the Holy Justice God.
Not only that, but in front of the Trace Faith Idol rested a chalice crafted from the same translucent material; within the chalice flowed liquid radiance.
The liquid was an ever-shifting iridescence, like dawn mist caught in pale moonlight, shimmering gently and releasing faint ripples that spread throughout the chamber like invisible waves.
It was the Godly Faith Nectar, the very essence of divine faith!
Before both the Trace Faith Idol and the Godly Faith Nectar’s chalice knelt a solitary figure, it was none other than the Myth of Reverend!
Gone was his carefree smile and the jovial demeanor he showed the world. At this moment, he appeared solemn and almost devout. His eyes remained closed as he quietly recited ancient scriptures under his breath.
The faint iridescence radiance from the Godly Faith Nectar reflected across his face while the entire chamber seemed immersed within an endless ritual.
Unlike the countless believers throughout the Legendary Plains, his faith carried neither fanaticism nor blind devotion. It carried purpose, determination, and obsession.
For a very long time, only silence existed; then, suddenly, the chalice trembled, before the Trace Faith Idol quivered ever so slightly, and a profound fluctuation rippled through the room.
The Myth of Reverend’s eyes instantly opened, and his expression changed as the Godly Faith Nectar within the chalice emitted a faint pulse. A pulse only someone deeply connected to divine faith could recognize.
“Divine Power…” The Myth of Reverend slowly rose to his feet, and his gaze sharpened, “Someone had just used Godly Faith Nectar to activate Divine Power?”
He muttered, but his expression became solemn because the Godly Faith Nectar was not merely touched or activated through a Faith Idol, but was expended by someone using Divine Power.
‘The only existence capable of utilizing Divine Power to this extent within this region is that mysterious Sealed Faith God imprisoned beneath the Undead Skyfall Canyons…’ His eyes narrowed, ‘The Undead Skyfall!’
That was his first thought. After all, there was only one known divine existence hidden within Sagittarius. But confusion soon followed. Why would that sealed creature suddenly use such precious resources?
The Undead Skyfall had been trapped for countless years, and every drop of Godly Faith Nectar should be more valuable than life itself.
That’s why the Myth of Reverend felt something was very wrong. For that ancient monster to actually consume Godly Faith Nectar, who had forced him into such a situation?
The Myth of Reverend’s eyes narrowed, ‘Had the Undead Skyfall finally decided to act? Or had some unforeseen variable appeared? No matter what, for it to expend Divine Power…something extraordinary must have happened!’
A dangerous possibility surfaced as the Myth of Reverend’s expression turned grave.
‘…Could it be?’ His heart stirred, ‘Had the Undead Skyfall captured the Cursed One? Or perhaps confronted him?’
Myth of Reverend, despite his lack of knowledge about the ‘Undead Skyfall’ true origin, he at least knows that if the Undead Skyfall truly moved personally, then he could already find the Cursed One and capture him.
The thought caused the Myth of Reverend’s heart to sink because either possibility was disastrous.
But Myth of Reverend was also under the impression that the Undead Skyfall might not even know about the Cursed One, so the former had no reason to move against the latter unless provoked!
Nonetheless, the appearance of the Divine Power spelled nothing but countless possibilities, which was unacceptable to the Myth of Reverend, as he had spent centuries preparing countless schemes, made countless sacrifices, and told countless lies.
In the end, everything led to Sagittarius, and if something happened before he arrived, the Myth of Reverend clenched his fist since whether it was a threat or an opportunity no longer mattered.
He could not afford to wait as a rare sense of urgency gripped him, and his calm smile vanished pletely.
Without hesitation, he raised his hand and a golden-blue sigil appeared before him.
The next moment, a connection was established, and a cold female voice answered, “What is it, fellow Reverend?”
“The vanguard enters immediately.”
Silence followed before the Myth of Oracle’s voice grew slightly colder. “What happened?”
The Myth of Reverend spoke directly, “A divine disturbance has appeared within the Sagittarius Continent!”
This time, even the Myth of Oracle became silent before she hesitantly asked, “A divine disturbance?”
“Yes.” The Myth of Reverend’s eyes remained fixed on the trembling chalice, “The situation has changed. We advance now.”
After a moment of silence, Myth of Oracle replied, “Understood.”
The connection ended, and the Myth of Reverend looked toward the idol one final time, and his eyes reflected cold determination.
“No matter what happens, the Cursed One will not escape!”
