Chapter 716: Chapter 709: Captain

Within a separate courtyard in the camp, inside the study.

Hua Qing sat before the desk, picking up the pile of scrolls that lood like a mountain. He perused them one by one, carefully examining each.

It was unclear what news was contained within the scrolls that caused his brows to furrow at tis, a look of satisfaction to spread across his face at others, and yet at other tis burst into uproarious laughter…

As a captain in the Enemy-breaking Camp, he commanded ten teams, nearly a hundred people in total.

Among the entire camp, there were a fair number of captains like him, but he could certainly be considered part of the camp’s middle echelon.

“Knock, knock, knock…” The sound of knocking suddenly arose.

“Co in!” Hua Qing lifted his head from the mountainous pile of scrolls, stretched languidly, and called out.

“My lord!” A lean and wiry man pushed open the door and strode in.

Stopping several feet from Hua Qing, the man halted, bowed respectfully, and paid his homage.

“Find a seat for yourself and sit down.”

“When I first joined the Enemy-breaking Camp, you and I were on the sa team. Now, apart from the two of us, all the other brothers have fallen in battle.”

“Our relationship has been forged through life and death; you don’t need to be formal here, treat this place as your own ho.”

Nodding his head and smiling at the man, Hua Qing invited him to take a seat.

The lean man, nad Wu ng, chuckled softly, pulled a chair over from the side, and sat down across from Hua Qing at the desk.

“Boss Hua, I am well aware of the care you’ve shown ,” he said.

“With just a word from you, I would scale the highest walls or dive into the depths of hell, unhesitatingly.”

“May I ask, for what purpose have you summoned this ti?”

Although Hua Qing spoke courteously, Wu ng wouldn’t take his words completely to heart.

After settling into the chair, he imdiately started, flattering Hua Qing while tentatively asking.

“I’ve called you over for a good reason, of course!”

Giving Wu ng a roll of his eyes, Hua Qing smiled faintly and continued, “With your capabilities, you could have been a team leader in the Enemy-breaking Camp quite so ti ago.”

“However, you, my friend, enjoy skirting your duties and shirking responsibilities on a regular day, which has led many in the camp to view you with suspicion.”

“Because of this, your promotion to team leader has been delayed until now.”

“You must be aware of the incident involving Team 7. Don’t say I don’t look after you; I’ve pulled a lot of strings to help you climb the ladder and take on that team leader role.”

At this point, Hua Qing stopped speaking and simply looked at Wu ng in silence, not continuing further.

Hearing his words, Wu ng first froze, then a wave of elation surged through him.

He quickly stood up, thumped his chest, and promised, “Boss, you can rest assured. I’ll lead the team in a way that upholds your honor.”

“While my strength might be considered diocre at the Heavenly Immortal level, when it cos to survival, there are few in the Enemy-breaking Camp who could compare with !”

While speaking, his chest resounded with his emphatic pats.

Wu ng’s greatest trait was his knack for survival. He would never take on missions with a hint of risk and would be the first to flee at the slightest sign of trouble during a mission.

It was for this very reason he had survived until today. However, this cautious nature, while keeping him alive, rarely garnered him much rit to trade for cultivation resources.

Hua Qing, who had been conscripted into the Enemy-breaking Camp at the sa ti as him, had stepped into the Golden Immortal Realm decades ago, while Wu ng had yet to reach Perfect completion of the Heavenly Immortal Realm.

His character starkly contrasted with that of Fang Xuan.

Realizing he was to succeed Fang Xuan and beco the leader of Team 7, Wu ng’s heart blossod with joy, and he already began to calculate how much rit he could extract from his team mbers each month as their leader.

As for leading a team himself on a mission to sneak into the mining area of the Demon Palace, the risk was a little too high, and without thinking, he was sure he would disdain to do so.

“Right, Boss, has that Fang Xuan guy really died?”

“I’m not going to be a team leader halfway through, only for him to suddenly co back, am I?”

“That damned guy, without a word, would draw his sword, fiercely so. If he wanted to compete with for the position of team leader…”

At this point, Wu ng chuckled dryly twice and stopped talking.

Although he did not finish his words, the aning he intended to express was very clear.

With his temperant, wanting him to compete with Fang Xuan was out of the question; he definitely didn’t have the courage.

“Rest assured, the squad led by Fang Xuan has been basically confird dead in the mining area of the Demon Palace.”

“According to our insider sources from the mining area of the Demon Palace, Fang Xuan and his people attempted a sneak attack on a certain camp of the Demon Palace but ultimately failed.”

“One of the top ten Heavenly Immortals of the Demon Palace, Wei Wushuang, had personally made a move to intercept Fang Xuan.”

“Although no one witnessed Fang Xuan being killed by him, and he himself repeatedly claid that Fang Xuan used the Blood Sword Escape to get away from him, the fact is the fact. No matter how much he denies it, it cannot be changed!”

“So, you don’t need to worry about anything. Once you take office, just manage your subordinates well.”

With a look of frustration at his lack of ambition, Hua Qing glared fiercely at Wu ng and explained.

In fact, he wasn’t too impressed with Wu ng’s temperant either.

It was just that, for the mont, he couldn’t find anyone else suitable and finally settled on Wu ng for the position by default.

“Thank you, Boss Hua, thank you!”

Wu ng bead with a grin so wide it seed his face might split open and, after giving Hua Qing several grand bows, he turned and slowly withdrew.

Inside the separate courtyard where Team 7 of the Ninth Squadron was stationed, Chen Hai exchanged a few polite words with Li Kuishan before he had just sent him off, and other teammates ca to visit.

Chen Hai’s openly displayed initial Earth Immortal strength might not look impressive to these new mbers, but no matter what, as the only remaining veteran in the team, he was still treated with a certain amount of respect by those new mbers.

There were altogether nine new mbers.

These nine new mbers were mainly Earth Immortals, and the only ones who had truly entered the Heavenly Immortal Realm, aside from previously ntioned Li Kuishan, was another nad Sun Tu from the Demon Clan.

People have different levels of closeness, and those who ca to visit Chen Hai were clearly divided into several small groups.

They only knew that Chen Hai was an old mber of the team, but they had limited knowledge of how long he had been in the team.

Perhaps, in the eyes of these new mbers, Chen Hai, the veteran, was more familiar with the Enemy-breaking Camp and more experienced in handling affairs. During their conversations with Chen Hai, it was clear they were trying to win him over.

Unfortunately, every ti he heard this, Chen Hai would simply laugh it off and then deftly change the subject.

After all, he had absolutely no interest in forming cliques.

In his opinion, it was better to spend the ti on cultivation to enhance his own strength than to waste it on internal power struggles.

“I am Wu ng, the newly appointed team leader of Team 7 of the Ninth Squadron!”

“All mbers of the small team, swiftly gather in the main yard.”

“Everyone must be clear about the consequences of defying the commands of superiors within the Enemy-breaking Camp.”

“Those who fail to arrive within three breaths will bear the consequences themselves!”

With hands clasped behind his back, walking with an air of indifference, Wu ng entered the courtyard leisurely.

Stopping in the middle of the outer courtyard by the chamber, he raised his voice and bellowed.
