Should she go sowhere else, or return to Wuzhong Sima Sect? This question echoed repeatedly in Luo Chen's mind, yet he still couldn't find an answer. He recalled how last night beneath Longquan, she had sworn to stay, to find the Dragon Girl together, and to slay demons and evil... But now, without even a farewell, she had vanished from his world.
Luo Chen raised his wrist, feeling the warmth of that touch, her voice faintly echoing around him. He shook his head, trying to cast these mories out, but realized he couldn't forget them at all.
At that mont, Wang Xiaofa ca over leading two horses. Seeing Luo Chen's despondent look, he couldn't help but worry. Yet he knew that at such a ti, any words of comfort seed so weak and powerless.
"Brother Chen, let's go." Wang Xiaofa said softly, handing the reins to Luo Chen.
Luo Chen took the reins, took a deep breath, and tried to calm his inner emotions. He looked at Wang Xiaofa, forced a smile onto his lips, "Fa'Er, I'm fine."
Wang Xiaofa was startled, evidently not expecting Luo Chen to recover so quickly. He stared at Luo Chen in disbelief, the comforting words he had been preparing seed inappropriate at that mont.
"Brother Chen, are you really okay?" Wang Xiaofa couldn't help but reconfirm.
"What could be wrong with ." Luo Chen smiled faintly, tightened his legs around the horse's belly, made a "giddy-up" sound, and galloped toward Longquan Square.
Wang Xiaofa gazed dumbfounded at Luo Chen's back, shrugged helplessly, muttered a few words, and rode a mule closely behind. Although he didn't understand Luo Chen's feelings at the mont, he knew that no matter what happened, he would stay by Luo Chen's side.
All along the way, Luo Chen galloped furiously, as if to throw all worries behind him. However, his heart felt as if tightly gripped by sothing, he couldn't seem to let go. He didn't know whether he blad her for not keeping her promise, blad her for leaving without a word, or blad her for never showing her true self to him.
Perhaps it was all of those things. But more than that, Luo Chen actually blad himself. He blad himself for being too naive, thinking she would really stay; he blad himself for being too cowardly, lacking the courage to pursue her.
Nevertheless, despite how painful it was, Luo Chen knew he couldn't just sink like this. He realized early on that Ouyang Qian wouldn't stay long, and he himself couldn't leave Chang'an. Life had to continue, regardless of who was gone.
Thinking this, the feeling of loss in Luo Chen's heart gradually dissipated, replaced by a firm conviction. He knew what he needed to do, and he knew how to do it. So, he slowed his horse's pace, took a deep breath of fresh air, and prepared to usher in a new day.
And just then, a sound of urgent hoofbeats ca from afar. Luo Chen furrowed his brow, following the sound to see a rider galloping towards them. As the man got closer, Luo Chen noticed his face was unusually grave, as if sothing important was about to happen.
The rider reached Luo Chen, jerked the reins to a halt, dismounted swiftly, and knelt on one knee, "Young Master Luo, sothing terrible has happened! There's a major incident at Longquan Square!"
Upon hearing this, Luo Chen's heart tightened. Longquan Square was their destination, a place Ouyang Qian had ntioned. Now that sothing happened there, could it be related to her? With that thought, Luo Chen quickly asked, "What happened? Tell quickly!"
The rider lifted his head, showing anxiety and exclaid, "It's the Dragon Girl! The Dragon Girl appeared!"
"What?!" Luo Chen and Wang Xiaofa exclaid simultaneously, unable to believe that the Dragon Girl would appear at this mont. Was it coincidence or inevitability? They couldn't know. But they understood the significance — if mishandled, it could spark a great disaster.
Luo Chen took a deep breath, striving to keep calm. He looked at Wang Xiaofa and said, "Fa'Er, we need to hurry to Longquan Square to check the situation." With that, he mounted his horse again, tugged the reins, and dashed towards Longquan Square. Wang Xiaofa followed closely behind, both heading toward the battlefield belonging to Longquan and the Dragon Girl.
"Giddy-up!"
Luo Chen gave the horse a solid slap on the flank, and imdiately, it shot forward like an arrow. The autumn wind was fierce, tossing his long hair backward, as if sweeping away all the busyness, joy, anger, sorrow from the past month into the wind. His gaze was steadfast and profound, as if he saw the road ahead—though rugged, he was prepared to walk it alone.
From now on, he would solely embrace the dark clouds, and lie dormant in the killer ga spanning seventy miles of Chang'an. He would wander between the two serpents, cultivate the path, seek the Dragon Girl, and slay the Snake Demon... All of this, with no one to consult, would be faced and completed by him alone. But he was not afraid, because he knew, it was his destiny, it was his choice.
Wang Xiaofa rode a short mule closely behind Luo Chen, mouth agape as he watched the spirited young man ahead, suddenly recalling the incredibly vibrant Anwa from a month ago. He couldn't help but feel myriad emotions, realizing that from this mont, everything would change.
