Ling Yueyaya looked in the direction where Thunderstorm was leaving, took a deep breath, and said lazily, "Was that the new Guardian the family hired? Seems really cold. Sister Naxue, is he really as powerful as you said, killing two Soul Kings in half an hour?"
"When have I ever lied to you?" Carefree ng Lan gave Ling Yueyaya a sidelong glance, pretended to be angry, and turned her head away. Then she smiled at Luo Chen and said, "After lunch, we are going to buy so equipnt and elixirs. These are essential items for the journey, in case of ergency."
"Okay." Luo Chen nodded, but his enthusiasm seed diminished. Carefree ng Lan keenly noticed this but didn’t inquire further.
"You guys stay here and get to know each other. I’ll go back to the family house and be back soon." Carefree ng Lan advised. She hurriedly left the room, leaving Luo Chen and Ling Yueyaya alone.
The atmosphere in the room suddenly beca quite awkward. Luo Chen and Ling Yueyaya were not very familiar with each other, and alone together, they didn’t know what to say. After a long while, Luo Chen finally asked, "Are we really going to the Forest of Death just for special training?"
Ling Yueyaya looked at him deeply, then gracefully walked to the bedside and sat down. Her jade-white palm rested on the bed, her posture natural and elegant. Hearing Luo Chen’s question, she smiled lightly and replied, "Yes, why, did you think there’s sothing else?"
"Nothing, just asking casually." Luo Chen laughed, trying to hide his true thoughts. He always felt that there might be a bigger secret behind this special training, but he also knew now wasn’t the ti to delve into it.
The two fell into silence again. Luo Chen began examining the room, trying to find topics to break the awkward atmosphere, while Ling Yueyaya sat quietly, her thoughts unknown.
After quite a while, Carefree ng Lan finally returned. She held a small package in her hand, filled with the equipnt and elixirs they would need.
"I’m back," said Carefree ng Lan with a smile, "See if these things are sufficient for us."
Luo Chen and Ling Yueyaya imdiately gathered around, starting to inspect the contents of the package. Carefree ng Lan stood aside, watching them silently, filled with anticipation and concern. She knew the upcoming journey would be full of challenges and danger, but she also believed they could overco difficulties together and successfully complete the special training.
Carefree ng Lan’s expression was sowhat uneasy, her eyes frequently glancing at Luo Chen with so expectation and inquiry. However, she was disappointed to find that Luo Chen seed always absent-minded, his gaze drifting, as if burdened with so heavy thoughts.
"Oh~ so what are we going to do now, Sister Naxue?" Ling Yueyaya asked with a charming smile, breaking the brief silence. She walked playfully next to Luo Chen, hands cutely behind her back, leaning slightly forward, bringing her face close to his, nearly teasingly looking at him.
The faint fragrance wafted into Luo Chen’s nose again, reminding him of the earlier charming scene, blushing involuntarily. He awkwardly avoided Ling Yueyaya’s gaze, pretending to focus on the view outside the window.
Seeing this, Carefree ng Lan couldn’t help but sigh softly. She forced a smile, trying to alleviate the awkward atmosphere, "Now... let’s eat, I’m hungry." She suggested, then looked at Luo Chen, "Brother Luo Chen, you definitely haven’t tried Golden Soul Coin World’s famous dishes before. Let’s take you there now."
Luo Chen responded with an "Oh," without saying more. His thoughts seed to still wander elsewhere, having little excitent for the upcoming culinary journey.
Soon, the three arrived at the Golden Soul Coin Shili Inn’s restaurant. Despite his heavy mood and lack of appetite, Luo Chen couldn’t help but be amazed by the grandiosity of the restaurant.
The entire restaurant resembled a golden dream world, composed entirely of golden hues. Golden ceiling, golden floor, golden walls, even the tables, chairs, and waitstaff uniforms were of noble gold color. This vast restaurant could accommodate hundreds of people and was as lavish and awe-inspiring as a banquet hall in a palace.
Carefree ng Lan chose a window seat to sit, the sunlight bathed her exquisite face, giving her a touch of divine glow. Ling Yueyaya seated herself beside Luo Chen, whispering to him at tis, trying to close the distance between them.
After ordering so signature dishes of the Golden Soul Coin Shili Inn, the three fell into an awkward calm again. Luo Chen remained reticent, while Carefree ng Lan and Ling Yueyaya seed to each harbor their own thoughts. This mont ant to be enjoyed with fine food, however, turned so somber and oppressive.
The waiter served one exquisite dish after another, the aroma wafting and tempting. Yet, Luo Chen only chanically moved his chopsticks, eating without realizing the taste. His heart was filled with doubt and unease, overwheld by the fear of the unknown regarding the upcoming adventure into the Forest of Death.
