But Zheng Fa’s next words caught everyone even more off guard.
"Dean of the Agricultural College, Qian Qi, Master Qian."
The three thousand disciples slowly turned their heads, their gazes landing on a slightly plump middle-aged man in the crowd.
Master Qian stood among the crowd, looking at Zheng Fa, almost unable to believe his ears.
In a daze, he saw Zheng Fa smiling at him:
"Master Qian? Are you willing to accept this position as dean?"
He began to nod involuntarily.
"Then please co up."
Master Qian slowly lifted his steps, walking out of the crowd.
The other disciples he passed by looked at him with eyes full of curiosity, surprise, and even scrutiny.
He understood why this was so—due to the Sect Leader’s favor, he had reached the Golden Core only last year, much stronger than before.
Yet, compared to the ntors on the platform who were at least at the Nascent Soul level, his cultivation was still lacking.
Standing next to Blood River Ancestor and Jiao Wuji, Master Qian felt completely uncomfortable.
A Golden Core stage dean, leading two Divinity Transformation stage ntors... and still two from the Demon Sect.
His legs trembled.
"Master Qian, are you willing to beco an elder of the Jiushan Sect?"
"E-E-Elder?"
Master Qian’s eyes widened enormously, and his mouth began to tremble.
"Yes, an elder." Zheng Fa nodded at him, then looked towards the disciples below the platform and said, "After becoming an Inner Sect Disciple, you also have the opportunity to advance to True Inheritor, Elder, and Supre Elder."
"These three, besides being rewarded with good deeds annually, can apply for research funding, and even manage universities or military academies, offering suggestions for the developnt direction of the Jiushan Realm."
"Only those with extrely outstanding abilities can be granted these positions."
"Only those with exceedingly significant contributions can be granted these positions."
"To be promoted to True Inheritor, unless one has made great contributions or published major research results, they must be recomnded by an elder."
"To be promoted to Elder, it requires the decision of all elders."
Master Qian listened as Zheng Fa said:
"Master Qian, due to your contributions, all the elders believe you are sufficient to assu the position of an elder, and no one but you is fit to be the dean of the Agricultural College."
Master Qian turned his head, bewildered.
Pang Taishang and others nodded in acknowledgnt to him.
Beside him, the formidable Jiao Wuji and Blood River Ancestor’s expressions carried a trace of respect.
The disciples below the platform looked at him with gazes full of envy, already clasping their hands in salute.
The people and objects before him suddenly beca sowhat blurred, and in the shimring, warm water light, he saw his past self, bending over submissively in the workshop, welcoming and sending off visitors.
He saw himself fleeing like a lost dog when the Qianhe Sect was annihilated.
He saw himself crouching day after day in the dicine Garden.
At this mont, he stood next to two Divinity Transformation Real Persons, in the spotlight of all.
When his vision beca clear again, he saw Zheng Fa standing in front of him, smiling at him.
"Master Qian, please accept your appointnt letter."
"Yes!"
Master Qian extended his hands, grasping the appointnt letter, with all the veins on his knuckles bulging out.
...
The Jiushan restructuring divided the Nine Mountains Cultivators into five categories.
Above the Inner Sect Disciples of the Jiushan Sect, there are the categories of True Inheritor, Elder, and Supre Elder.
Now Zheng Fa has defined their rights and responsibilities.
Compared to other disciples, they truly hold power.
The True Inheritors can independently apply to control a research project, and if encountered with danger outside, have the authority to command other disciples and make impromptu decisions.
The Elders have even greater authority, to a certain extent, they are the academic leaders, needing to ntor disciples and also participate in the governance of Jiushan University and the military academy.
Many matters concerning the Jiushan Realm are also discussed with them by Zheng Fa.
The status of a Supre Elder is even more unique.
Currently, Jiushan Sect’s Supre Elders are only Zhang, Master Pang, Junior Master Huang, and Elder Yuan.
They are the true decision-makers of the Jiushan Realm, all decisions concerning the entire Jiushan Realm cannot bypass these five.
If Zheng Fa is not within the realm or is in seclusion, the great authority of the Jiushan Realm will lie only in the hands of these four Supre Elders.
Simply put, being a Supre Elder is not just about academic contributions or cultivation level, more importantly, it requires Zheng Fa’s absolute trust to entrust the Jiushan Realm.
These three categories of Jiushan Cultivators have much higher salaries than the Inner Sect Cultivators.
Zheng Fa looked at Master Qian, with a slight smile in his eyes.
Master Qian probably hasn’t realized yet what being promoted to Elder ans for him:
Apart from the power and fa, today’s glory...
The most important thing for Master Qian is actually that... the salary of an elder is the sa.
But those like Lady Xuanhua are at least Nascent Soul, whereas Master Qian is only a Golden Core:
The sa salary has completely different anings to them—
It’s like... the money a billionaire makes in a day is more than many people can earn in a lifeti.
The resources that could employ people like Lady Xuanhua might be enough to kill a Golden Core cultivator like Master Qian.
Even Zheng Fa could assert that in the first batch of Nascent Souls cultivated by themselves in the Jiushan Realm, Master Qian’s na will surely be among them.
Promoting Master Qian as an Elder is naturally due to his outstanding contributions to the Jiushan Realm:
Fusang Wood and Qingjing Bamboo are exceedingly significant.
The various new species in the dicine Garden that have fed the population and brought wealth to the Jiushan Realm are also evident.
Not to ntion the aid of agricultural studies to the Alchemy Dao.
As dean of the Agricultural College, no one could have raised any objections.
He was the only one, no one else.
But on the other hand, Zheng Fa naturally also had the ntality of spending a fortune for a good result:
An individual of relatively modest aptitude, through research, could reach what position in the Jiushan Sect.
Master Qian made an excellent example for these disciples:
One should know, the salary of an elder is also publicly disclosed through the Nine Chapters of Mathematical Array.
...
"The first thing these disciples learned, unexpectedly, is how to produce junk papers."
Zheng Fa sat beside Sister Zhang, looking at the freshly produced papers in the discoursed past scene, his expression indescribable, seemingly with a headache.
A series of reforms seed to have injected quite a few shots of enthusiasm into the Jiushan Disciples:
The problem is, perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm.
Perhaps pressured by the Inner Sect assessnts.
Or maybe simply envious of Master Qian’s salary.
Or perhaps just wanting to make a simple profit from the good deeds pool.
With three thousand Jiushan disciples, over twenty days, six thousand plus... academic rubbish was produced.
Many disciples did not even know the norms of writing papers, the poor quality of these papers would be enough to ruin Zheng Daoist Ancestor’s reputation in the modern educational world.
"Most of them have insufficient foundational accumulation." Sister Zhang smiled at his pained expression, "Moreover, they’re not writing from nothing; many of their secret techniques and ideas are actually quite novel."
Zheng Fa let out a breath, slowly nodded.
These disciples simply lacked ability, but their attitudes were right, indeed quite a few of them brought out their deeply treasured secret techniques.
Lack of ability is excusable.
Poor attitude is incurable.
Zheng Fa maintained his patience, slowly flipping through the papers in the discussed applications, suddenly stopping his gaze, furrowing his brows, and his expression beca serious.
Sister Zhang leaned over to take a look, softly reading out the paper’s title:
"’Exploring the Decline of Red Feather Sky Gang Qi’?"
