"Alchemy Reaction Chamber?"
"It’s the pill furnace."
The long-browed elder frowned, saying, "Why is it so peculiar?"
"Because it’s convenient for observation and recording," Zhao Jingfan spoke more fluently about this, as he had participated in the design of this reaction chamber, "Please look, these pipelines can precisely control when to add dicinal materials and when to adjust the spiritual fire."
"This screen," Zhao Jingfan pointed at the glass wall, "On one hand, allows us to observe the pill refinent process, recording the temperature of the reaction chamber, concentration of spiritual energy, amounts of dicine, even recording the entire reaction process for review after refinent."
"On the other hand, this reaction chamber also has automatic cleaning and automatic repetition of the previous experint functions."
"Compared to the previous generation reaction chamber, the main improvent is that this data will automatically connect to the Heavenly Inference Array Plate for our analysis and deduction."
The nine Supre disciples listened half-understandingly, with a few frowning, Xuan Chengzi’s expression was even colder, seemingly thinking it was overly complicated.
However, the long-browed elder had read many papers in the Comprehensive Records lately and gained so understanding of Jiushan Alchemy. He accepted this better, nodding slightly, "Interesting."
Zhao Jingfan laughed, "This new reaction chamber is extrely useful. With it, our progress in interpreting and improving the Supre Pill Dao scriptures has accelerated a hundredfold."
It was said unintentionally, yet the laboratory suddenly fell silent.
Zhao Jingfan looked up blankly, only to see Xuan Chengzi looking at him with an unfathomable expression, half-smiling, "Improving... our Supre Dao’s alchemical scriptures?"
Though he was smiling, Zhao Jingfan couldn’t help swallowing, his face tightening.
The other Golden Immortals of the Supre Dao also had a hint of coldness in their eyes.
This ti he truly offended them.
Seeing Zhao Jingfan unable to speak, Xuan Chengzi chuckled lightly, turning to Mu Qingyan and said, "Fairy Mu, you said to provide guidance to the Jiushan Sect’s pill masters, but now it seems we are the ones who should be enlightened."
Mu Qingyan’s expression remained unchanged, seemingly ignoring the irony in his words, but instead she looked at Zhao Jingfan, "The Jiushan Sect’s pill masters are indeed very outstanding."
The long-browed elder saw Xuan Chengzi’s face turn even more unsightly, and couldn’t help but smile bitterly.
Xuan Chengzi’s junior brother deliberately excluded these Qingmu Sect disciples, and now Elder Zhao was boasting, while Mu Qingyan was obviously biased, likely making Xuan Chengzi’s junior brother dislike these pill masters even more.
Sure enough, the smile on Xuan Chengzi’s face gradually faded, and he looked at Zhao Jingfan with a gaze devoid of emotion, saying coldly:
"Then please tell us, Elder Zhao, which scriptures of our Supre Dao fall short in your eyes and need improvent? What have you improved?"
Zhao Jingfan glanced at Mu Qingyan, seeing her nod slowly at him, he then said in a low voice, "All of them."
The nine Supre disciples were stunned.
Xuan Chengzi was speechless for a mont, and instead of being angry, he simply said to Mu Qingyan, "You want to give us a show of strength? You all underestimate us too much."
He seed to want to find a hint of embarrassnt on Mu Qingyan’s face, but Mu Qingyan did not smile, nor did she explain, just quietly watching him.
Xuan Chengzi’s smile grew smaller and smaller, then he squinted his eyes, staring at Zhao Jingfan for a long ti, seemingly finally willing to rember Zhao Jingfan’s face.
"Unexpectedly, our Supre Pill Dao is being discarded like trash. I’m curious to hear Elder Zhao’s... profound views."
He spoke politely, but everyone understood the underlying disdain.
Zhao Jingfan was not flustered at this point.
Originally unruly by nature, being provoked by Xuan Chengzi awakened his youthful boldness. Rather than being intimidated, he spoke loudly and fluently:
"The Supre Pill Dao is indeed intricate and grand. In front of you all, we pill masters are just novices in this field."
"But in my view, the Supre Dao is vast but scattered, seeing the branches but not the forest."
"Simply put, it’s not systematic."
The laboratory was silent, even the long-browed elder’s expression turned sowhat unhappy, let alone Xuan Chengzi and the others.
Xuan Chengzi gave Zhao Jingfan a deep look but didn’t get angry, instead, he said coldly to Mu Qingyan, "Since that’s the case, are we not making a laughingstock of ourselves here? Forgive us for taking our leave."
Everyone could see that Xuan Chengzi was not unangered, but rather considered arguing with Zhao Jingfan beneath his dignity.
The long-browed elder tried to diate, "Why not hear what Dean Zhao has to say."
Xuan Chengzi glanced at his senior brother, seemingly seeing through his good intentions, and wasn’t in a rush to leave, just closed his eyes, with an expression that he wouldn’t be bothered.
Zhao Jingfan, however, picked up a jade cylinder from the laboratory bench, explaining, "Let’s talk about your sect’s Supre Green Pouch Scripture, which records over twenty-one thousand three hundred dicinal formulas, enough to treat most ailnts and injuries."
Saying this, Zhao Jingfan’s face showed so respect.
Only by obtaining the Supre Dao’s scriptures can one understand how deep this sect’s accumulation in alchemy is.
This is a heritage that has never been interrupted for nearly millions of years across several eras.
For millions of years, the Supre Dao has not stood still, but rather continuously researched and experinted—although their experintation differs greatly from Jiushan Sect, sotis even seems capricious, the accumulated experience is enough to make all other alchemy sects despair.
The Supre Green Pouch Scripture is far from being the most exquisite alchemical scripture of the Supre Dao, yet it records over twenty thousand precious unique formulas.
This demonstrates the extrely deep accumulation of the Supre Dao in alchemy.
He even understood the pride that Xuan Chengzi and others have in this path—Xuanwei Alchemy Dao, Supre is number one, that is the reality.
Zhao Jingfan took a deep breath, "But effective elixir recipes only represent effective experience and do not represent the pharmacology you have summarized."
Xuan Chengzi opened his eyes, looking even darker, "Are you doubting our Supre Dao’s pharmacology?"
"Yes!" Zhao Jingfan nodded, "Or rather, we are verifying the pharmacology."
"According to Zheng Fa’s philosophy, any Immortal Dao technique is an experience phenonon, summarized as deep rules, then deduced to new techniques."
"The Supre Dao’s experience is enough for us to learn for a lifeti," Zhao Jingfan looked at Xuan Chengzi, his voice firm, "But theoretical verification is insufficient and requires us to validate one by one."
Xuan Chengzi angrily said, "Such audacity!"
The long-browed elder, however, pondered deeply. He knew the Jiushan Sect valued empirical evidence and was now interested, "Is this Master Zheng’s philosophy?"
"Yes!"
The long-browed elder pursed his lips, even Xuan Chengzi’s expression turned more solemn; clearly the na Master Zheng compelled him to suppress his inner anger.
"So how do you intend to verify?"
"Divided into three steps, first using this reaction chamber to record, review, observe the micro changes and mutual reactions of spiritual dicine, corresponding with the claims in the elixir recipe."
Actually, there are many correct parts in the pharmacology of the Supre Pill Dao scriptures—because cultivators have a strong observational ability, often a high-level cultivator can replace many experintal instrunts.
Even this thod is not enough to convince Xuan Chengzi.
Though he didn’t intentionally refine pills this way daily, he wasn’t lacking in such steps.
Any Supre elixir recipe, in the literal sense, has been thoroughly tempered.
"What is the second step?"
"Trial dicine."
"Trial dicine?"
Zhao Jingfan was not forthcoming with the explanation, he only said, "Our Jiushan Sect has a standard process for trial dicine."
"First is experinting on animals and spirit beasts to verify safety, though Supre Dao elixir recipes rarely need this."
"Secondly, is using cultivators or human experintation."
Xuan Chengzi sneered, "How is this different from us?"
"There is a difference, the main difference is that we strictly apply double-blind experints."
"Double-blind?"
"The simplest case is dividing subjects into two groups, one group takes experintal pills, the other consus pills with spiritual energy but no effect—we call this the Fake Pill."
"As for who takes what, not only do the subjects not know, we don’t know either."
"This is to eliminate human interference."
Seeing Xuan Chengzi wanting to say sothing, Zhao Jingfan continued, "In many experints, Fake Pills have a maximum of thirty percent effectiveness on mortals..."
"For cultivators, the efficacy of Fake Pills is even greater."
This is understandable, as a cultivator’s divine soul, spiritual power is highly related to their beliefs and will, placebo effects are far stronger than for mortals.
Even according to the research institute’s experints, placebo effects on cultivators are unreasonably high.
"For every elixir recipe in the Supre Dao scriptures, only after undergoing various experints do we consider it effective, according to Zheng Fa, this is our Jiushan Sect’s... empirical Alchemy Dao."
