Professor Rupert couldn’t bother to ask more questions and imdiately stood up, snatching the tablet from the student’s hands.

Looking at the selectable difficulty levels photographed on the instrunt, Rupert felt his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

"X level, soone actually reached the X level!"

It was understandable that the student had never heard of this level because this level of test didn’t originally exist in the device’s design, but was whimsically added by Rupert himself.

The original design of the reaction test device did not distribute the levels like this but was the sa as the X level test Li Ang had attempted.

From the beginning to the end, there was only one difficulty level, but the speed and firing rate of the bullets would continuously increase with ti until reaching the maximum operating power of the machine.

However, as he was about to finish designing, the client changed their requirents, hoping for more clearly defined levels of testing, a sense of breakthrough, and so forth, forcing him to change the latter part of the testing plan to the current style of different levels.

Since the previous design was already halfway done, Rupert didn’t want to waste it, so he simply included it as well, but set the initial difficulty at the SSS level and put it after the highest level of difficulty had been cleared as a little Easter egg of his own creation.

Unfortunately, over the years, the abilities of Mutant Warriors fell short of his expectations, and to date, not a single one had managed to pass the S level test.

Rupert originally thought that his Easter egg would never be discovered by anyone in his lifeti, but to his surprise, there actually was soone who had achieved such a level.

"Quick! Quick! Help get in touch with their commander, I need all the data on this tester!"

Rupert sat excitedly on the sofa, his skin, which had beco pale and sickly from staying indoors without sun exposure, began to flush due to his quickened heartbeat.

The project he was currently working on desperately needed a Mutant Warrior with such extre speed and response capabilities. If soone like this joined, he could cut the project tiline in half, and the resulting outcos would undoubtedly be far superior.

In the face of Professor Rupert’s request, they naturally didn’t dare to delay as, on paper, they were the clients of his team, but in reality, their core operations entirely depended on him.

When the highest commander ordered the search for this tester, it was only then disclosed by others that the test subject was a participant in the "Operation River," already assembled and ready to depart.

He imdiately used his authority to halt their departure and had them wait on the spot.

Originally, he wanted Li Ang to co over, but upon reflection, he decided it was simpler to go there himself.

And what prompted this change of mind was actually the X level Mutant Warrior that Professor Rupert had just ntioned over the phone.

Although it was only a possibility, he knew the worth of a Mutant Warrior at this level far better than anyone else here.

Frankly speaking, if this level had been officially certified, he should have been waiting outside the base upon Li Ang’s arrival by plane from the beginning.

anwhile, at the periphery of the base, a few fully geared elite soldiers were becoming impatient.

The base seed to have gone haywire, issuing a sudden notice that their mission was brought forward, the timing extrely urgent, requiring imdiate departure, while on the other hand issuing orders to pause.

For heaven’s sake, the helicopter’s rotors were already spinning, just idly burning fuel — they ca to realize this must be where Arica’s military budget was squandered every year.

Li Ang was intently admiring Katerina, who stood in front of him — her lower body proportions were simply too perfect. The way she perford squats was one kind of beauty, and just her standing there was another.

The group was all set to berate the personnel in the base, only to realize upon closer inspection that the person erging was none other than the base’s highest commander.

Although he wasn’t their direct superior, his rank was certainly high, and being in charge of this training base, he definitely belonged to the category of people they couldn’t afford to offend.

They had originally thought the highest commander had co over to issue so new orders, but when he arrived, he pulled that Chinese kid aside and started whispering with him?

"Does this kid have such strong connections? Katerina protected him before, and now the commander is seeking him out?"

"Don’t worry, these things are all illusory. As warriors, we can only rely on our own strength. What use is having many connections? On the battlefield, can others really risk their lives for you just because of connections?"

Hearing the complaint from the Mutant Warrior who stood over two ters tall, the glasses man who shared his viewpoint rcilessly mocked as well.

Katerina, who was nearby, just smiled slightly at this.

If it had been before, she might have defended Li Ang for the sake of face, but after having witnessed Li Ang’s strength, such behavior had beco unnecessary.

Li Ang too was sowhat helpless at the mont. When the base’s highest commander found him, he learned it was because he had broken the record of the reaction test device.

They hadn’t spoken for long when the other party received a phone call and, without any explanation whatsoever, passed the phone directly to him.

The person on the other end seed to be an old man nad Rupert, who started off by asking him to co and be their equipnt tester. Upon learning that he was to participate in the upcoming operation, the man vehently tried to deter him from going.

"How much is the reward for your participation in this operation? I’ll personally double it—how about you co over to my side right now?"

The commander was quite taken aback by these words. Was there really such a way to poach people?

At the sa ti, he also realized once more the importance of Li Ang.

Yet facing the temptation of whatever reward there was, doubled no less, Li Ang still firmly rejected Rupert.

"Listen, this is my mission. Since I’ve agreed to participate in this operation, I will carry it out resolutely to the end. It’s not a matter of money, do you understand? Even without any reward, I would still participate."

To avoid any further entanglent, Li Ang presented himself as a paragon of honor and sacrifice for the country.

It wasn’t that Li Ang lacked money; in any other situation, he would definitely have opted out, but this ti it involved sothing related to the [Psychic Crystal], a thing that sotis could not be bought with any amount of money.

Li Ang’s words moved the military-bred base commander, who was listening. He never took such talk seriously, because he didn’t believe it himself, but this ti was different. There really was double the reward tempting him, and all he had to do was to give up the mission to receive the money. What kind of spirit was this?

Hearing all this, the commander couldn’t help but take the phone himself and say to Professor Rupert:

"Let him participate in this mission first. I believe with his strength, he won’t encounter too much danger... "

Eventually, after discussions among several people, Li Ang agreed to find so ti to assist them in their lab after the mission was over.

...

"No way, am I seeing this right? Is the highest commander actually saluting that kid?"

Witnessing this scene, even the previously mocking glasses man regretted his earlier words sowhat. Although what he had said was not wrong—that connections are indeed useless in so instances—the caveat being that the connections are not significant or strong enough.

If this kid could simply skip the operation and directly receive honors and rewards, how should he respond then?

Fortunately, the scenario he feared did not co to pass. Although delayed for a while, Li Ang still waved goodbye to the commander and ca over to board the plane with them.
