The trees and grass in this world were sowhat withered and yellow, but the occasional encounter with wildlife still gave a vibrant impression of life.

No wonder so many wealthy individuals would travel thousands of miles just to see these animals on the African savannah. Indeed, different environnts have their own unique landscapes.

Li Ang ran freely across the savannah. By comparison, what kind of freedom did Arica offer? The true freedom was here on these vast plains.

He wasn’t worried about soone spotting him first; his camouflage attire closely matched the surrounding environnt. With his superior vision, unless others employed professional surveillance equipnt, it would only be him who discovered others.

About five kiloters later, Li Ang slowed down because he finally encountered signs of human activity ahead.

Up ahead, about five hundred ters away, there was a group of people wearing similar camouflage gear, advancing toward the sa destination.

The reason Li Ang noticed them imdiately was their number—they were a group of at least a dozen, all equipped with gear.

From this, it seed that these people were not reinforcents for the original organization but rather a group with the sa objective as him.

Their presence almost confird the existence of the [Psychic Crystal] in this area; otherwise, why would these people co all this way, if not for tourism, right?

Li Ang didn’t rush in but chose to follow at a distance. Only a fool would pop their head up in such a situation.

Since they couldn’t directly absorb the [Psychic Crystal] anyway, it didn’t matter if they got their hands on it first. He could always snatch it from them at any ti.

As he followed them, Li Ang observed their capabilities. Anyone daring enough to compete for the prize had to have so skills.

All of them were equipped, and though their pace was sowhat scattered over the several kiloters, not one was left behind, which showed they all had professional training.

When they were about two kiloters from the target, the situation finally changed. Li Ang, with his excellent vision, noticed sentries positioned ahead even before they did.

Li Ang was curious to see how they would handle these two closely positioned sentries—would they opt for a direct assault or have a different plan?

As the distance closed even further, the newcors also made the sa discovery as Li Ang.

After a brief discussion, the group arranged for two snipers to take out the two scouts.

This strategy was within Li Ang’s expectations. After all, on the open savannah with just a few scattered trees and little cover for miles, stealthily sneaking in was practically impossible.

A couple of minutes into their adjustnts, two gunshots rang out, less than a second apart, at the front, and the two scouted personnel at the target location fell to the ground.

Even Li Ang had to approve of this operation. Completing the job without any mistakes at such a distance, and in such a short ti, showed that among professional soldiers, they were quite competent.

While they were preparing, Li Ang had already selected an excellent spot to silently observe. He had anticipated such a situation before setting off, so he had even purchased a camouflage periscope and a ghillie suit to be a professional onlooker.

Due to leaked information on the internet, the organization that had first occupied this place heightened their security. But, it was tough for the defenders, who were exposed in the open.

After the two sentries were taken down, they reacted promptly. Including those called for backup, Li Ang saw that they already outnumbered the attackers with over ten people on the field.

So far, in terms of manpower, they held a significant advantage.

The two sides quickly engaged in a firefight, but with the attackers in control, they managed to eliminate four of the defenders with the cost of only one casualty.

Soon, the defenders realized the futility of their position and comnced a strategic withdrawal.

After all, the attackers’ target was right here; they weren’t going anywhere.

The attackers knew this too and dispersed their formation, advancing toward the target point.

But Li Ang felt that this group’s combat strength wouldn’t be so weak. As the side with the initiative and the advantage of early occupation, they could have made ample preparations in advance.

As expected, three minutes later, a huge explosion echoed across the empty grassland.

"Boom!"

"Damn, there’s a big mine!"

Li Ang hadn’t expected them to go so big, actually burying mines in the ground; such things were not commonly available.

He was also relieved that he had let others walk ahead; otherwise, if he had stepped on one without noticing, it would have been rather difficult to handle.

Luckily, he had just morized their advance route, at least marking a part of it that was free of mines.

With the blast of the mine, at least three people fell into a deep slumber, although it was unclear whether they were killed or just incapacitated. In addition, two unlucky fellows at a distance were probably wounded by the shrapnel from the explosion, emitting screams of pain.

Just from the impact of this one mine, the number of active fighters in their team dropped from double digits to a single digit.

But that wasn’t the main issue; it was the unpredictable nature of these devices that directly affected their morale.

Even Li Ang had to tread on thin ice in this environnt, not to ntion them, for no one knew whether they would step on more mines if they continued forward.

Most of them were just rcenaries, here for money, not to sell their lives, and none of them would want to physically clear a minefield.

For a mont, they were at a loss whether to move forward or retreat.

But their inaction didn’t an the defenders were idle. Sure enough, those who had just tactically retreated organized a team of over ten people and charged back almost simultaneously with the mine explosion, hoping to capture them in their most chaotic mont.

"Boom!"

"Damn, they have RPGs too!"

Sure enough, these people were not to be trifled with; you play with mines, I can play with rockets.

A single RPG shot took down three or four of them.

Now, both sides fell into a strange equilibrium, where neither dared to move.

Li Ang was busy recording the positions they had traversed; these were all marked as safe zones in his mind.

However, from Li Ang’s estimation, they couldn’t have placed too many mines in this kind of area—it was, after all, the African savannah. The most abundant here were animals, and if you planted too many mines, the animals would set them off before any humans arrived.
