Chapter 1099: Chapter 606: Major Daoist Advancent

Zhao Sheng silently counted; over two hundred levels of corridors lay between here and the endpoint, yet the straight-line distance was no more than a hundred miles.

“Thank you, Brother Qi, for the guidance! Bai i will rember this favor.” Zhao Sheng accepted the Beast Skin Scroll, smiling as he expressed his gratitude.

“Bah, what’s a little thing like that? If you’re headed that way, I might as well play the good guy till the end and personally accompany you on the trip.” Qi Wu Yan waved his hand nonchalantly, then candidly suggested.

Zhao Sheng pondered upon hearing this, “This… would be too much trouble for Brother Qi! I can go alone.”

“Oh co on! Did you forget everything I just said? Traveling alone makes it easy for those eerie creatures to target you. Don’t argue with on this matter.”

Qi Wu Yan had a domineering attitude and made the decision for Zhao Sheng directly.

After speaking, he turned around and shouted to the crowd, “Old Turtle, Ma San, you two get over here!”

As soon as the words left his mouth, a plump and a slender figure imdiately ran over from afar.

The plump one had a round face with a short stature, carrying a set of green turtle shells on his back, moving swiftly.

The slender one had long arms and legs, with an elongated face, eyes sparkling, and his gaze carried a sharpness.

“Lord Qi, what do you need us for?” Ma San eagerly approached Qi Wu Yan, his horse-like face showing a fawning smile, his eyes swirling as if secretly pondering the master’s intent.

“Lord Qi!” Old Turtle, much more composed than Ma San, arrived in front and greeted softly, then stood still.

Qi Wu Yan said seriously, “The two of you will accompany and Brother Bai i to the Human Clan’s market. When we return, I’ll waive your taxes this ti.”

Ma San hesitated upon hearing this but quickly agreed with a chuckle. Old Turtle also nodded in agreent.

Qi Wu Yan showed a hint of satisfaction upon seeing this, then turned to Zhao Sheng and smiled, “Brother Bai i, let’s go!”

“Since there’s no point in being polite, let trouble Brother Qi and the two Taoists then.” Seeing the matter settled, Zhao Sheng had to accept Qi Wu Yan’s offer.

“Haha, Brother Bai i, follow us.”

Qi Wu Yan laughed heartily and took the lead, stepping towards the eastern corridor.

Zhao Sheng delayed for a mont, then followed behind him.

Ma San and Old Turtle, the two from the Demon Clan, exchanged a glance and promptly followed.

After walking about four or five miles, Qi Wu Yan ca to a stairway entrance, turned back as an indication for Zhao Sheng to stay close, and then darted into the descending staircase.

The staircase leading down was approximately six feet wide, with each stair made from milky-white wood, exactly matching the surrounding wall material.

Zhao Sheng noticed the walls on both sides of the stairway were covered in graffiti, the patterns chaotic, seemingly altered and sared repeatedly by countless lives.

A quick glance revealed he could vaguely discern seven or eight kinds of symbols resembling “characters” among the chaotic patterns.

Upon entering the staircase, the dense images kept resurfacing in Zhao Sheng’s mind, and he quickly recognized two types of “characters.” One bore eighty percent similarity to Taiyi’s Spiritual Text, and the other was clearly the Immortal Seal.

The Spiritual Text signified “Evil Exorcism,” whereas the Immortal Seal comprised just a single character: “Life.”

As soon as he grasped the aning of the text, the four swiftly crossed the stairway, arriving on the next level of the corridor.

This corridor was identical to the previous one, similarly empty and silent. Letting his gaze drift slightly outward, Zhao Sheng could see the eerie yet sacred majestic White Tower.

Not daring to linger his gaze, Zhao Sheng quickly withdrew his sight, then turned to look back at the stairway entrance, surely seeing the sa extensive graffiti on the side walls.

He stared for a mont, then turned back and continued following Qi Wu Yan forward.

They passed three stairways before Qi Wu Yan turned into the fourth staircase entrance.

Descending again, both side walls were similarly covered in “graffiti.”

After traversing this staircase, Zhao Sheng suddenly realized there were ninety-nine steps, descending approximately thirty feet in height.

After descending two corridors, Qi Wu Yan maintained silence, focusing solely on hurrying forward, without emitting a single sound.

Ma San and Old Turtle were both extrely cautious, their expressions wary, remaining equally silent.

Witnessing the situation, Zhao Sheng beca thoughtful, further cautious of the unseen “eerie creatures.”

Thus, all four rushed like the wind, swiftly traversing layer after layer of corridors descending towards the final destination.

After about an hour, the four smoothly crossed over two hundred layers of corridors, covering almost four hundred miles.

Upon exiting the two hundred and forty-seventh staircase entrance, Zhao Sheng’s eyes lit up, a modestly scaled “market” coming into view not far from the stairway entrance.

The “market” spanned just over half a mile, with a crowd barely surpassing a hundred, and only twenty plus stalls filled with dazzling treasures and nurous unknown bizarre items.

Upon Zhao Sheng and the three appearing, they imdiately attracted everyone’s attention.

Especially with Qi Wu Yan and the other two exhibiting prominent Alien Race characteristics, arousing considerable caution among onlookers.

A giant clad entirely in armor soon erged from the crowd, marching before the four, sternly shouting, “Halt!”

Qi Wu Yan clasped his fists and loudly declared, “I am Qi Wu Yan, from the Pi Xi Clan. Today I’ve co here to escort Brother Bai i, not as an hostile guest.”

The armored giant’s expression slightly softened upon hearing this, reasoning that since the visitor could communicate, they were not the undead eerie creatures.
