Pink hair appeared in the corner of his vision as Austin approached the preparation room in the afternoon.
He was told that his match would be in thirty minutes so he was rushing there.
Naturally, Valerie wasn’t with him since no one other than the participants could be in the preparation room. He told her to sit in the stands and cheer for him.
"Hey, are you going in?" Rhea asked as she stopped before him.
Austin blinked, "Why are you here? Is there anyone else fighting other than from Valorian?" Last he rembered he was the only one for today.
Rhea shook her head with a smile, as she said, "Just was talking to soone and got distracted where I was headed. Soone from the Avalon Academy."
She t a really nice person who helped her find ways.
She never thought that a stranger could have such a gentle personality.
Austin humd, before telling her, "Well, good for you. See you later."
"Yes, see you. Best of luck, Austin!" Saying so, Rhea continued to walk through the gallery which led to the arena.
While Austin walked towards the preparation room, he asked the system, ’Can you give a quest to elevate my Combat stats?’
He has been thinking that he wasn’t using the QoD often, and that’s very stupid of him. After all, all the quests assigned from the system are always aligned with what he is looking for progress.
He could have asked for a quest when he dives into the dungeon; after all, that place is his battleground to manipulate. He can use the opportunity to enhance his specific stats.
And since there is an option to reject quests up to two tis—if they appear to be too absurd—he can take the risk.

[Are you sure you want to use QoD for your combat enhancent?]
[Y/N]
Without thinking much, Austin chose the ’Y’.
[Ding!]
[Generating quest....]
[Assessing current status....]
[Ding!]
[Quest: Defeat your opponent within five minutes after the match begins!]
[Reward: 15 combat, 50 Points]
"..." Austin paused for a mont when he saw the quest.
Defeating his enemy in five minutes? He still doesn’t know whom he is fighting so taking the worst possibility into consideration, he was supposed to face an A-rank and defeat them within five minutes, eh?
’Sound impossible, but I won’t know until I try.’
With those thoughts, he entered the preparation room and found he was the only one there.
There were several benches around the room and attached to the wall.
There was a long slim window that gave the vision outside.
Austin slowly approached the window and looked outside—only to freeze in shock as he found a huge figure was thrown in his direction.
*Bham*
The person collided against the fra of the window, but no damage was dealt to the preparation room.
Austin shifted to the right and looked at the person who so brutally defeated his enemy.
The loud cheering from the audience made it clear that they had quite a spectacle while witnessing the battle.
And when Austin’s eyes landed on the person, he realized that the hype was warranted.
’Kevin...a being who would play a crucial role during the final arc.’ He is the true nesis of darkness. Soone who can even negate the effect of the Dark water.
If this has been an eroge ga, then Kevin might have been the protagonist.
Regardless of what happens now, Austin was prepared to deal with things his way. He wouldn’t be depending on the main cast.
Before the Demon Lord resurrects, he would gain enough strength and skills from the system to stand against that calamity.
"Oh, hello." Not so long after, Kevin entered the preparation room after his match was finished.
Austin nodded at the guy, "Nice match. It seems the opponent wasn’t very difficult for you." He talked to him casually since they conversed yesterday at the banquet as well. Although briefly.
Kevin rubbed the back of his head, "It seems he was a B-rank...and I went a little too hard with him. In the excitent of participating in the tournant for the first ti, I went overhead."
Austin shrugged, "Well until you don’t break any rules, it’s all good."
Kevin laughed dryly before he sat down on the bench and took so water.
The battleground was getting rearranged. So workers were cleaning the ground, and so were repairing the surface using their Shards and artifacts.
"By the way, I heard you are a D-rank?" Kevin asked suddenly.
Austin crossed his hand as he casually asked back, "How do you know about it?"
Kevin was flustered, "Please don’t misunderstand. I didn’t inquire about you and Miss Valerie because you defeated so many demons in Drenovar."
Austin chuckled, "It ans you did. Well, you are right; the last evaluation I had said that I am a D-rank."
Kevin blinked in confusion, "And about your Shard?"
Austin summoned his Frostfang, as he said, "Still at stage zero."
Kevin was flabbergasted, "Yet you were able to defeat an A-rank? Crazy...."
Austin laughed lightly, "I had help, you know. And it’s not like you can judge soone based on their rank. After all, I heard that the Great Kane who defeated the Demon Lord was also an E-rank for most of his life."
Kevin thumped his fist on his palm, "You are right about that. I heard how the Hero and his partners went to different continents and gallantly defeated the Demon Generals before going against the Monarch of Darkness. And despite being irregular they were able to leave such a deep impact on the world."
Austin humd, "But it’s slightly frustrating as well-"
"That we know nothing about Lord Kane’s team mbers, right?" Kevin added, which ushered Austin to nod.
The raven-haired boy heaved a sigh, "Well, there must have been a significant reason why Savior Kane never revealed who helped him get over such a big crisis."
Austin humd in assent before both of them fell silent.
Not so long after soone ca and told Austin to step out.
Kevin got up and said, "I wish you the best of luck, Austin. Please grace with your presence in the second round." Saying so, he gave a brief bow and walked away.
Austin chuckled, so the guy wants to fight with him, eh?
Shaking his head, he tied his shoelaces after undoing them once and gulped so water before heading out.
The battle begins now.
