After ng Qianqian and Chen Long left, it was a while before Shang Wuyou returned to Anji Hospital with Tan’er.

As soon as they entered the back door, they ran straight into the furious Gongsun Ziyu.

Gongsun Ziyu snapped impatiently, "Where have you been? Disappearing the mont you arrive—can’t you see how busy it is here? Big Sister and I are about to lose our minds from all this work!"

Tan’er, holding a tanghulu, fired back without hesitation, "Is this your first ti here, huh? Don’t you know how crowded it gets? If you didn’t bring enough people to help, why bla others? He’s the Young Master, not a healer. Expecting him to help? Why don’t you just expect pigs to climb trees?"

"You—"

Gongsun Ziyu was so angry she almost fainted.

Shang Wuyou stood to the side, unsure whether to feel gratified or insulted. On the one hand, he was being defended; on the other, it felt like he was being scolded.

Shang Wuyou, however, knew how to prioritize. A shouting match with Gongsun Ziyu back at the Thousand chanism Pavilion might have been fine, but this was no ti for petty argunts.

"Second Sister, is there anything I can do to help?"

He sincerely asked Gongsun Ziyu.

Gongsun Ziyu was briefly stunned into speechlessness.

Right, what could this boy even do?

He’d trained in martial arts since childhood, never dicine.

"You... go and—"

"Go and what? Spit it out already!"

Tan’er stared unflinchingly at Gongsun Ziyu.

From inside the main hall ca Gongsun Liuying’s gentle, lodious voice: "Wuyou, I asked the kitchen to prepare so sweet pastries. Could you distribute a box to each child?"

When Gongsun Ziyu heard this, she imdiately expressed her displeasure: "Why should he get that job?"

She stomped off toward the main hall.

Gongsun Liuying was seated behind a screen, taking the pulse of a frail child. Outside the screen stood several children, watched over by staff from Anji Hospital and disciples of the Thousand chanism Pavilion.

The main hall was packed with people. A foul sll lingered around the children’s unwashed bodies.

Even with a veil on, Gongsun Ziyu couldn’t help but cover her nose.

Monts like these always made her admire her elder sister deeply.

These children were so filthy, so rancid. How did her sister bear it?

Watching her sister’s delicate hands rest on the grimy wrist of that orphan, Gongsun Ziyu couldn’t resist the urge to drag her out of the room imdiately.

"Sister."

Suppressing her discomfort, she complained, "Why did you have to give him the sugar distribution job? You’re so biased, always giving him the nice tasks."

Sweets were a sure winner with children—give them candy, and they’d behave like angels.

It was, quite frankly, the easiest job here.

The child being treated, though eight years old, looked no older than five. She lifted her thin, bony face and stared at Gongsun Ziyu in fear.

Gongsun Liuying softly reassured her, "Don’t be scared. She’s my sister. She’s just upset with her younger brother—they’ve been like this since they were kids, always bickering. She’s not mad at you."

Upon hearing she wasn’t the cause of Gongsun Ziyu’s displeasure, the child visibly relaxed.

After soothing the child, Gongsun Liuying patiently explained to Gongsun Ziyu, "You’re better at dical work than he is. I need you to stay here and assist ."

Gongsun Ziyu opened her mouth, about to retort, but then relented: "I guess I am more useful than he is."

Anji Hospital mostly took in orphans with nowhere else to go. Gongsun Liuying ca here every seven days—not just to treat patients but also to bring clothes and food.

In the past, Anji Hospital was a place of misery for the children. Ever since Gongsun Liuying started coming, even the Governnt Office offered more support to Anji Hospital.

Hearing of this, ordinary folk had begun flocking to the hospital—those who were sick hoping she would heal them, and those who weren’t wanting to glimpse the so-called fated daughter of the heavens.

Gongsun Ziyu glanced at the line of people waiting outside the hospital gate and mumbled under her breath, "Sister, there are even more patients today than last ti. Looks like we’ll be busy until late tonight."

anwhile, ng Qianqian and Chen Long were preparing to head back to the Yu Family.

As they passed the entrance of Anji Hospital, they saw a woman clutching a feverish, red-faced child desperately trying to push through the crowd.

Unfortunately, she was too late—Gongsun Liuying’s patient slots were already full.

The woman pleaded, "Please, I’m begging you, let through! My son is seriously ill..."

A Thousand chanism Pavilion disciple maintaining order outside explained to her, "There are too many patients. Even the eldest young lady can’t handle them all. Just with the ones we already have, she’ll have to work non-stop all day. Maybe you can ask soone ahead in line if their condition isn’t urgent, and see if they’re willing to give up their slot for you?"

Hearing this, the woman stopped arguing and anxiously went from person to person, asking for help.

But everyone in line had gone to great lengths to secure their spot—no one was willing to give it up.

Clutching her child, the woman broke down in tears.
