At least Princess Wanping won’t be dragged down by his bad luck.

"Hey, Snake, you didn’t get dragged down by my bad luck today either—"

Before the word "luck" was finished, the well suddenly collapsed with a loud rumble, and Si Snake, who was pulling Ji Li up, fell in expressionlessly—

-

Yu Family.

ng Qianqian t Madam Yu.

Yesterday, when ng Qianqian saw Yu Father, she thought Yu Zichuan resembled him quite a lot. But after seeing Madam Yu today, she realized Yu Zichuan resembled her the most.

No wonder Yu Zichuan is so exceptionally handso for his age—Madam Yu is also quite a rare beauty.

Her gaze is clean and bright, without a trace of weariness or the harshness of ti. Despite being married for many years, she still radiates the lively charm she had before her wedding.

This is what it looks like to marry the right person.

Madam Yu pulled ng Qianqian’s hand and sat her down in a chair, then turned her head to playfully scold Yu Zichuan: "Son, you brought a guest ho, and yet you didn’t wake up?"

Yu Zichuan responded with resentnt: "Father wouldn’t let . He even kicked out of my own room."

Madam Yu glared at Yu Father standing at the door: "That was wrong of you."

"Yes, yes, I admit my fault!"

Yu Father stood outside, bowing in apology.

Madam Yu forgave him, then said to her son, "Don’t bla your father—you really are quite noisy."

Yu Zichuan took a deep breath: He truly feels like an unwelco accident.

ng Qianqian had accumulated considerable experience interacting with ladies during her ti in the Capital City. She possessed a composure and conversational finesse beyond her years, and Madam Yu took an instant liking to her.

When Madam Yu learned that she was one of the renowned Twelve Guards, her admiration for ng Qianqian deepened.

"Lady Lu, Little Zichuan must’ve caused quite a bit of trouble for you. This child—who knows who he takes after—neither his father nor I are stubborn people."

ng Qianqian responded with a polite smile, "Aunt Yu, if you don’t mind, you can call Little Nine."

Madam Yu laughed, "Then I’ll call you that!"

"Mm."

ng Qianqian nodded and started sharing amusing stories about Yu Zichuan’s life in the Capital City.

In truth, she had only known Yu Zichuan for a little over a year. Many of the stories she recounted were ones Lu Yuan had told her, like how Yu Zichuan loved eating Osmanthus Cake from Zhou’s Shop, or how he followed a group of Jinyi Guards practicing archery, or how he insisted on washing himself three tis whenever he bathed.

The first ti soone tried to scrub his back, Yu Zichuan refused to let anyone touch him. Lu Yuan stepped in to help him, but Yu Zichuan ended up being picky about it.

Madam Yu, upon hearing all this, knew her son’s years at the Governor Mansion weren’t unpleasant.

If they were bad, he wouldn’t be so unwilling to return every year.

He’s grown taller too. Once frail and sickly, now he’s a spirited young man in elegant robes.

Suddenly, Madam Yu beca teary-eyed.

ng Qianqian quickly grasped her wrist, "Aunt Yu, what’s wrong? Did I say too much just now?"

Madam Yu choked up, "No... I just feel like crying... Ever since I got pregnant... I cry every day... Don’t mind ..."

...

An hour later, ng Qianqian stepped out of Madam Yu’s room.

While the two won had been having their heart-to-heart, Yu Zichuan and his father had left.

His father went to greet the guests, while Yu Zichuan sat outside polishing his bow.

Yu Zichuan lifted his eyes and walked toward ng Qianqian, "You talked to my mother for that long?"

His mother hadn’t talked to him for nearly as long.

ng Qianqian smiled, "Your mother cares deeply about you. She just wanted to know how you’ve been doing in the Capital City."

"Oh."

Yu Zichuan seed unsurprised by his mother’s inquiry. Nor did he appear concerned that ng Qianqian might say anything to give her undue worry.

Perhaps this was a silent trust and understanding between them.

"How is my mother?"

He asked, "I heard pregnancies at her age can be very challenging."

ng Qianqian replied, "It can be difficult, yes. But fortunately Aunt Yu’s pulse is very steady. It’s been three months now."

Yu Zichuan asked, "How big is three months?"

ng Qianqian held up her thumb and index finger to show: "About this big."

Yu Zichuan stared, wide-eyed, "That small?"

ng Qianqian was amused by his expression of shock.

She couldn’t help but think of Lady Wang back in the Capital City. Lady Wang should have given birth by now—she hoped both mother and child were doing well.

"By the way, where’s Lu Yuan?"

She asked.

Yu Zichuan gestured behind him, "Talking with my father. Chen Long just left as well—no idea what he went off to do."

ng Qianqian thought for a mont and said, "It’s fine. Since we’ve made the plan, he’ll stick to it."

She guessed her older brother had likely gone to gather information about the Thousand chanism Pavilion.

When the two stepped into the hall, Yu Father was sighing deeply, looking like he’d hit a wall in his thoughts—whatever it was, the two of them had no clue.

ng Qianqian threw an inquisitive glance at Lu Yuan.

Lu Yuan gestured for her to sit down.

"Father, what are you doing?"

Yu Zichuan asked.

"Ah, Little Nine, you’re here."

Yu Father greeted ng Qianqian and invited her to sit.

Yu Zichuan, ignored by his own father: "..."

"Do you need soone to wait on you in your own ho?"

Lu Yuan nudged a stool toward him with one foot.
