"Urge?" Eamon was totally clueless as he wondered why Valerion hadn’t told him that there might be consequences.

"He probably didn’t want to put pressure on you." Eros smiled faintly as he glanced at Tia, contemplating whether he should tell Eamon of the down sides of a temporary mark.

Eamon’s brows furrowed into a small frown, his gaze stern as he looked at his friends.

"Guys, tell what you know." He requested and Tia and Eros exchanged small nods before they looked at Eamon.

They knew Valerion was selfless to a painful degree and he was going to let himself suffer so that his mate did have to be forced into anything.

Tia and Eros cared for both Eamon and Valerion and decided to give Eamon the knowledge he sought so that he could make his own decision.

"The mark Valerion gave you is temporary and it could have left no side effects if you were not his mate but since you are, things get a little bit complicated. You are not yet permanently bonded and now that his dragon knows what it feels like to be connected to you, the beast is not going to easily relinquish that feeling and it will attempt to renew the temporary mark or mark you permanently. If Valerion tries to resist his dragon’s wishes, he will suffer unimaginable pain until the bond completely fades. This could take weeks." Eros explained and Eamon’s frown deepened. He didn’t like the idea of Valerion suffering.

"The physical mark usually fades after five days but the psychological bond takes up to three weeks to completely vanish. His urge to renew the bond strengthens as it fades. What you do with this knowledge is entirely up to you." Tia added and Eamon thanked them for being honest with him.

He was going to give Valerion two days and if his mate didn’t tell him about his suffering, then Eamon was going to do what he had to do.

Being permanently bonded to Valerion was sothing he had run from in the beginning of their relationship but now that he loved the man, the idea was appealing.

He could ask the Valerion to mark him and the thought of bearing the mark of the man he loved made him smile.

Eamon relaxed and enjoyed the rest of the afternoon with Tia and Eros, happily chatting about various topics.

.....

Eamon spent the next two days carefully observing his mate for any signs that he was in pain but the dragon must have hidden it well and if it wasn’t for their bond that allowed Eamon to feel his restraint and internal conflict, he could have been totally clueless.

He sat in a chair before the fireplace in their room that evening, his eyes lingering on the spot that had once carried a mark as he waited for Valerion to co ho.

Valerion’s search for the red dragon had not yet yeilded any results because the beast had hidden it’s tracks so well. The only way they were going to find the dragon was if he wanted to be found. He had spent several flying around with a search team, looking for the tiniest clue that could disclose the fury’s whereabouts but it had all been a futile attempt.

Valerion felt so tired but his entire body relaxed once he entered his house, following Eamon’s warm scent that seed to wrap around all senses.

He was ho and he could relax.

"Good evening, love."Valerion greeted as he walked into Eamon’s open arms, smiling as he wrapped his arms around his waist and hugged him.

"Good evening." Eamon replied as he pulled away slightly so that he could look at his mate.

He looked so worn out but his eyes were bright and warm as they gazed at him.

"You look tired." Eamon noted as he reached out and gently caressed his cheek.

Valerion sighed softly as he leaned into his touch, the skin to skin contact soothing.

"Yeah, we made no progress today as well." Valerion admitted as his eyes that were looking into Eamon’s involuntarily dropped to his neck.

The itch in his gums was now stronger than it had been the day before and being so close to Eamon threatened to unerve him.

All his dragon could focus on was the slipping connection to his mate and it was making the beast grumpy.

He desperately wanted to mark Eamon and he closed his eyes as he drew in a sharp breath.

At the mont, he needed to put so distance between them to avoid pouncing on his unsuspecting mate.

"I am going to go and take a bath, I will be right back." Valerion smiled as he opened his eyes and quickly placed a peck on Eamon’s cheek, pulling away from his arms and heading to the door before his mate could respond.

Eamon’s brows furrowed slightly as he watched his mate that was suddenly quite eager to get away from him.

Normally, Valerion could have offered an invite.

"You don’t want to co along?" Eamon asked and Valerion who was at the door froze, his shoulders visibly tensing as he willed himself to turn and look at his mate.

"Of course I want you to but I need a little space to relax my mind today. Is that okay?" Valerion asked and Eamon’s eyes softened as he nodded.

"It’s okay." His voice was understanding as he tried not to overthink Valerion’s sudden need for space.

Valerion took a cold bath that montarily helped to take his thoughts away from his painful urge to mark Eamon but all his carefully constructed restraint crumbled once he walked into their bedroom and found Eamon seated on the bed, looking like a temptation.

He paused at the door, knowing that once he entered, he might not be able to hold back especially when Eamon was looking at him like he was a delicious snack.

Eamon subtly ran his tongue over his lower lip as his eyes looked at Valerion whose entire torso was exposed and lightly glistening with water.

The long towel he had wrapped around his waist hid his thighs from view and Eamon gulped softly as his eyes moved back to his face, his chocolate brown eyes darkening with desire as their eyes t.

"Co to ." His voice was a hoarse seductive whisper and Valerion found himself taking involuntary steps towards Eamon, his mind trying to resist the obvious pull in-between them.
