"See you soon." Valerion whispered as his hand reluctantly let Eamon’s go.

Valerion didn’t want to let his mate out of his sight for even a few seconds but he knew he had to try to.

He couldn’t be hovering over him all the ti.

Eamon could eventually find it suffocating.

"Will he be safe?" He asked Ezekiel and the dragon offered him an understanding smile, well aware of the trauma his cousin had been through.

"Don’t worry, he will be fine." Ezekiel assured him as they walked ahead.

Valerion was still slightly uneasy as he briefly glanced over his shoulder and looked at Eamon.

"If sothing bad happens to him, I will die. I cannot survive another loss." Valerion whispered as he reluctantly followed Ezekiel down a wide corridor.

Ezekiel frowned at the confession as he paused in his movents and gestured for a couple of big guards that were standing at quite a distance to co closer.

This was much more serious than he had thought and his cousin was obviously still hurting.

"Keep your eyes on my cousin’s mate at all tis. If sothing happens to him, Valerion will surely have your heads." Ezekiel nonchalantly explained and the n swallowed as they glanced at Valerion.

"We will do our jobs well." One of them hurriedly assured and the other nodded in affirmation.

They didn’t want to die just yet.

"Make sure you do." Valerion smiled calmly, his eyes passing on a silent threat to the guards.

The poor n bowed slightly and walked away.

Eamon was well aware of the guards that were watching him intently as he stood close to a wall, taking in the view of the ancient language that was scribbled on it.

The language had a few drawings that he managed to make out.

The drawings were mostly of dragons flying and roaring flas into the sky.

It was quite artistic and probably told a story he couldn’t fully fathom as he observed more of the drawings.

"It’s beautiful, isn’t it?" Ca a soft feminine voice from beside him.

Eamon turned to look at the woman that had spoken to him.

He realized with growing curiousity that she was... a human just like him.

What was she doing here? Was she perhaps mated to a dragon?

"Who are you?" He asked, his voice calm.

"Tia. Princess Tia of Gavenwood." She replied as she looked back at the paintings.

Eamon knew the place she was talking of. It was one of the five human kingdoms that existed.

"What is a princess doing here?" Eamon asked.

"Sa reason you are. I am a dragon’s mate." She replied.

He was about to ask which dragon but he had a feeling it was Ezekiel.

"The king?" Eamon asked and she glanced at him.

"Yes." She confird his thoughts and a brief silence followed.

"I am Eamon." He introduced himself, realizing how straightforward he had been.

Asking lots of questions during their first encounter was a little rude and Eamon’s mouth turned sour at the thought that he had ruined his chances of having a genuine connection with the only human he had t so far.

He hoped she wasn’t weak and frail to take offense.

"It’s nice to et you, Eamon." She replied, her smile polite and her face calm. She did not seem displeased.

"My apologies if I ca on a bit too strong." He apologized and Tia’s eyes widened slightly.

She waved her hand subtly in dismissal.

"No apologies required. Honestly, I don’t mind." She assured, her eyes genuine as she glanced at him.

Eamon felt himself relax.

"So...you are Valerion’s mate?" She asked.

"Yes."Eamon replied as he wondered how she had co here in the first place. Most humans strongly disliked dragons.

Had she co willingly?

"Did you choose to co here with Ezekiel?" He asked and she smiled faintly, recalling distant mories.

"At first, no. He actually kidnapped one day when I was out horse riding in the fields.

I had fought and struggled to get free but he just couldn’t let go. Ezekiel told I was his mate and that I belonged to him. I was far too spirited and rebellious to allow myself to be owned by soone so I spent two days here, secretly plotting my escape and I did manage to escape the following day but I didn’t get far. So dragons that hated humans found and nearly killed . I was heavily bleeding and nearly unconscious when Ezekiel found ..." She trailed off and Eamon waited with baited breath for her to continue.

Their story sounded interesting.

"I had never seen soone else so pained. He carefully nursed back to health, barely leaving my side until I had healed. During that ti, I got to know him and realized all dragons weren’t the evil villains I had painted them up to be in my head.

Slowly, I found myself falling for Ezekiel and after a few months, I accepted him and we were officially mated." She concluded her story with a faint yet happy smile.

"Good for you." Eamon breathed out after the narration. That was quite the story.

"What about you and Valerion? What’s your story?" Tia asked curiously and Eamon swallowed.

He did want to reveal much but she had told him her story. It was only fair he told her his.

"He attacked the castle I guard a few days back and he was heavily injured and then captured. I went down into the dungeons to see him a couple of tis and he had always seed interested in . One night, I was drawn to his scent and later found out that I was his mate. I thought of a way to use that to my advantage and I ploted for him to escape. I figured I could find a way to help the humans that are still being tortured by dragons. The fastest and easier way was to make him bring here." He concluded and the frown on Tia face was enough to know she wasn’t pleased.

"I don’t know what you’ve heard about Valerion but he is actually a good person. A little rough on the outside but a big softie on the inside. Whatever you do, please don’t hurt him." Tia spoke, her voice a little conflicted.

"I am not saying you are a bad person. I understand why you are doing this but it couldn’t hurt to give him a chance..." She hurriedly added and Eamon smiled painfully.

"I don’t want hurt him." He admitted and Tia offered him an understanding smile.

"That’s a good start." She encouraged and Eamon felt much better.

He had found himself a new friend he could talk to.
