"RUMBLE!"
The dust fell from the wall as it shook and split apart. Victor jerked back, pulling his finger out. His heart raced, adrenaline rushed through his veins, as he anticipated another discovery. A door fra ford a leading into the dimly lit corridor. He smiled, stepped out, and appeared in a familiar place.
"Victor!" Kate exclaid as she saw him suddenly pop up in the middle.
He spun around with a shock and noticed Kate standing right before him. He glanced back at the wall where he had co from, but there was nothing there, no door. He jumped toward the wall and touched it. But he could only feel the cold and the boring bricks.
He crossed his arms and muttered, "That door led out here and but the entrance is in a maze."
He nodded to himself and turned to frozen Kate. He stepped close to her, and his eyes zood in on her lips. He noticed a dried drop of blood on her chin. He squinted his eyes at Kate’s. ’Did she lose control and kill soone?’
Kate ca out of her daze, and a stiff smile appeared on her face. ’Why is he here? Did he follow around? Did he see lose control?’
She asked, "How did you appear here?"
But he didn’t reply and continued glaring at her. Her heart raced with anxiousness, and her palms turned wet from the sweat.
"Kate, did you kill soone?" he asked in a grim tone.
Kate’s eyes widened, she shook her head and replied, "No- I didn’t."
He sighed, shoulders relaxing. He fired her with several questions in one breath." Did you lose control? Where did you get the blood and how?"
Kate relaxed, and a smile appeared on her face. She whispered by leaning over, "I got a skill, it lets you drink blood without killing the victim and turning into a Vampire."
Victor’s eyes widened, and he exclaid, "WHAT!"
"Shush! Quiet." Kate placed a finger on his lips, and her eyes darted around, checking the corridors. After confirming that no one was eavesdropping, she relaxed and turned to him. Victor grabbed her hand and dragged her to the underground maze.
"Where are we going? Be careful, I don’t want to get caught." Kate whispered, getting pulled by him. A few monts later, they stopped before a wall.
"Huff, Huff, Huff!" Kate panted, bending over her knees.
Victor’s chest heaved; he leaned over the wall and pressed the bricks in a circular pattern.
A clicking sound echoed.
Kate straightened and observed him with confusion.
RUMBLE!
He backed away and smiled as the wall slid inside the floor. Kate’s jaw dropped, and her eyes widened. He dragged her inside and with another rumble door closed behind. Kate’s wide eyes darted around the room. ’A secret room!’
After a few monts, she looked at him, coming out of her daze. She exclaid. "This..."
Victor smiled and gestured around the dust-filled room, "This is a secret room I found. We can talk here, without worrying about anyone."
A smile appeared on Kate’s face, she nodded, and wandered around the room. A thought clicked in her mind. "How could we leave?" She asked.
Victor smirked and replied, "Don’t worry, I’ll tell you when it’s ti to leave."
He took out the old, torn shirt from his inventory and dusted the sofa. As the dust cleared, a brown leather sofa, six feet in length and three in width, shimred under the torches.
Thud!
He slumped on it and gestured for her to sit beside him. Kate shrugged and sat down. She felt the cushions were very comfortable despite seeming to be old.
"So, tell about the skill now," Victor asked, leaning back. Kate nodded and spoke freely. As she was talking, he noticed that Kate was in her pajamas.
After she was done, Victor’s thoughts raced. ’So, we could drink without harming the victim.’ His eyes drifted to Kate’s neck, ’ I think her blood doesn’t decrease my blood lust.’
Kate’s eyes suddenly turned serious, and she clenched her fists. "Victor..."
He ca out of his thoughts and glanced at her. Her hands clenched, and her eyes flickered. She raised her head and glanced at him through hazy vision. She paused for a few seconds; her heart thrumd in anxiousness.
She took a deep a deep breath and blurted, "I want to leave the academy and I want you to free ." She closed her eyes and waited for the reaction.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
’Don’t hate . Please don’t hate .’ She prayed in her mind as she waited for his response.
Even after waiting for a whole minute, she didn’t get a reaction. She slowly opened her eyes, and in her vision, he was smiling at her.
The warm smile and one that lted her heart. Her tense muscles relaxed, and all the weariness lted away. A smile appeared on her face, but her mind was still firm on the freedom.
"Okay, but I could only do that after six months, and I would need 50,000CP to buy a Goblet. We have to perform a ritual, and our connection will be severed." He gave her a detailed answer.
Kate’s eyes widened, and she froze. After a few monts of pause, she ca out of her daze and asked, "You, how did you know what I wanted?" She asked with narrow eyes.
He sighed and leaned back on the sofa, staring at the fairy statue on the fireplace.
"I could sense it. I wouldn’t have turned you into a Vampire if I had control. You already know the feeling of losing control now." He replied.
Kate smiled and leaned closer to him. She whispered, "I was tired of pretending before, but I never realized until now. Being a Vampire made realize it, yes, there’s a drawback, but I think I found its solution, too."
Victor smiled and leaned closer to her. Kate held his hand and closed her eyes. Little later, the two rhythmic breaths echoed in the silent room.
The fairy statue’s eyes blinked, and her head turned toward the two.
