"Right! Technology, when I use the word ’technology’, do you understand?"
Luo Yan took a deep breath, "Okay, okay, let’s all calm down..."
"Technology, right? Since it’s technology, it’s knowledge, then it shouldn’t be just you who can do it. I should be able to do it too, right?"
Gao Xin nodded frantically, "I’ve always been saying, everyone can do it! Everyone is sacred. It has to be this way, otherwise, it wouldn’t end up this way... My logic doesn’t work if there’s a single link missing! It’s all connected! Extrely stringent!"
"Okay, okay..." Luo Yan interrupted, "I don’t care about your principles anymore, alright."
"It’s like AI technology, I just need to know how to use it, you said there’s a thod right? Teach then."
Gao Xin pondered for a mont, then started his mysterious explanations again.
This ti, Luo Yan was even more confused because Gao Xin used a lot of terms from Taoist texts.
Taken separately, each was profoundly enigmatic, and together, they were indescribable.
"What’s this about ’rejecting wisdom and forsaking profit’, ’heart manifestation’, ’pure heart’? What does ’Tian Xin leans right, machine heart leans left’ an?"
"I thought you were illiterate? Where did you learn these terms?"
Gao Xin was taken aback, "These are words I’ve heard my Aunt Yao say, she reads fortunes for people. So phrases felt apt, so I borrowed them. So, you understand what I’m describing, right?"
Luo Yan frowned and said, "Rejecting wisdom and forsaking profit cos from the ’Tao Te Ching’, it ans to discard cleverness and wisdom and return to simplicity and purity..."
"As for heart manifestation, it’s from ’Zhuangzi· Equality of All Things’: The heart is not wood or stone, it reacts when stimulated, moved by feelings and responsive to circumstances."
"It ans that when the heart feels a certain emotion or thought, the body naturally produces corresponding actions or expressions."
As he said this, he paused in surprise himself.
Gao Xin excitedly said, "Ah, yes, yes, that’s the aning! You get it, right!"
Luo Yan, with a bewildered frown, said, "What do you an, I get what? That’s what it ans, but it’s not what the author is saying."
Gao Xin stamped his feet and said, "I don’t care what the author ans, I haven’t read the book, but that’s how I can only describe it to you."
"Just try it, it’s really simple!"
Luo Yan said dully, "Try what? You haven’t told how."
"Use your heart! As long as you believe, you can do it." Gao Xin said earnestly.
Luo Yan gritted his teeth, "Fine, I’ll give it a try!"
He imdiately found a cup and prepared to cut his finger to drink blood.
Gao Xin stopped him, "Your blood is already inside you, what’s the use of drinking it!"
"Drink this instead!"
He fetched a bottle of liquid from the storage, not knowing what it was.
"This is..." Luo Yan asked.
Gao Xin said, "This is the drug that unlocks potential, just drink it."
Luo Yan didn’t ask any further and downed it in one go.
He waited for a long ti, even tried to move heavy objects, but there was no effect at all.
"Co on, I genuinely believed in it," Luo Yan shouted.
Gao Xin gritted his teeth, "You believe my ass, you didn’t show any joy after drinking it."
"..." Luo Yan’s mouth twitched, "Because it tastes so bad, what is this stuff?"
Gao Xin pointed at him, "See, your instinct is to question, to ponder what this liquid from the at storage could be..."
"If you really believed, you would’ve been overjoyed, moved, your first reaction probably would be to thank for giving you this potion."
Luo Yan was already frantically trying to hypnotize himself to believe, but after hearing this, and thinking back, he realized he indeed hadn’t believed at all.
Suddenly Luo Yan was driven mad, "Co on, this is too mystical."
Gao Xin said, "It’s not mystical, you need to control your instincts."
Luo Yan scratched his head, "What do you an, control my instincts? How am I supposed to do that?"
Gao Xin tapped his chest, "There’s a knack to it, can’t you be a bit more attentive!"
"This kind of skill doesn’t need any external instrunts or equipnt, using only the human heart and body, you can operate, it’s like suddenly learning how to swim when drowning, the threshold is low enough!"
Luo Yan, not comprehending, "You haven’t explained the knack, what is the knack?"
"Didn’t I tell you?"
"Have you?"
"Haven’t I?"
"Did you really tell ?"
"Oh, it’s like... this way... just like..." Gao Xin was gesticulating wildly, talking nonsense.
While saying things that seed to lack any logic, he ran in front of Luo Yan, gesturing wildly, then dashed behind him, lifting up the frozen mouse.
He even danced around, muttering under his breath, constantly talking about sothing, very earnestly.
He was really trying to teach Luo Yan a thod, to help him understand a certain technique.
But the more Luo Yan listened, the more confused he got, as if struck by a huge enigma.
"What are you talking about?"
"I understand every word you’re saying, but when you put them all together, I don’t get it!"
"I don’t understand, but it feels like it’s sothing really aweso!"
Gao Xin grabbed Luo Yan and shook him frantically, "It’s so simple! It’s really so simple!"
"Why can’t you understand? You just can’t understand?"
Luo Yan felt like he was going crazy, "I really don’t understand, what are you even talking about? I feel like you’re bullshitting !"
"I swear I feel like you’re making this up!"
"I really fucking feel like, you’re fucking, just making it up!"
Gao Xin glared at him, then suddenly stretched out his arm, rolled up his sleeve to show him, "Look! Look! This oven is getting hotter and hotter! Don’t you feel it burning?"
Luo Yan thought he was talking about another hallucination, but when he looked, he was dumbstruck!
He saw Gao Xin’s outstretched arm, as if it was being roasted, the skin turning red, quickly blistering, with severe burns appearing.
"Holy shit!" Luo Yan was shocked.
They were in a cold storage, and yet Gao Xin had sohow made himself suffer burns as if he had been scorched by fire!
"It’s so simple, bro!" Gao Xin was demonstrating a marvelous human ability, but he spoke as if he was demonstrating a straightforward phenonon like free-falling.
"You just have to feel like you’re burning, and your brain can make your body appear to actually have burn injuries. I call this technique ’Imaginative Manifestation.’"
Luo Yan’s eyes widened, "Imaginative Manifestation?"
He recalled another experint where they blindfolded a condemned prisoner, ran the back of a knife across their wrist without cutting, and then let warm water flow over the skin, making them believe they were bleeding. After a while, the prisoner died without having sustained any real harm.
While the situation was different from Gao Xin’s current state, it was clear that the brain’s ability to affect the body is indeed very strong.
He could tell that what Gao Xin was demonstrating was based on known phenona, not sothing completely undiscovered by humanity, and its manifestations had even been identified. However, the use and developnt of it were far from reaching the extent Gao Xin had achieved, with the various related effects being imnsely powerful in him.
It was as if Gao Xin had grasped the true connection between mind and body, understanding so kind of essence, so mystery, yet this mystery was sothing Gao Xin couldn’t teach, and he couldn’t understand.
Luo Yan was stunned for a mont, then suddenly snapped back to his senses and exclaid, "Stop! Brother, stop now!"
Gao Xin stopped, and the wounds stopped getting worse, gesturing for him to try it out as well.
But Luo Yan just frowned, staring at his own arm for a long ti.
Finally, he said dejectedly, "It’s not... I can’t do it!"
"Tsk..." Gao Xin was upset, looking at the bizarre and various logical diagrams he had envisioned.
"How do I even explain this to you... How am I supposed to explain this..."
He sighed deeply.
Once his consciousness shift to pure sensory mode, the stage of logical processing for external information seed to be skipped entirely.
The outside information directly impacted him in a very basic form of data, and he could only process it sensually, with imagination, with emotion.
He found it very difficult to describe this feeling with human logic, and the more he thought about it, the more uncomfortable he felt.
It was suffocating, oppressive, as if ants were crawling over him! It also felt as if sothing was binding the inside of his skin, inescapable and untouchable.
Luo Yan saw Gao Xin freaking out, occasionally twitching, his hands and neck contorting, his expression as if he were constipated.
"Why can’t you understand..."
"You have a mouth and can speak, but can’t you learn to sing? It’s really so simple!" Gao Xin moaned.
Boy, that jab was sharp; it left Luo Yan feeling down, as if he were an idiot.
Seeing him in such distress, Luo Yan quickly said, "Forget it, forget it, I won’t learn, stop teaching . Just think of it as your superpower, alright?"
Gao Xin helplessly replied, "It’s not a superpower, you could do it too!"
Luo Yan didn’t care anymore, waving his hand, "Alright, whatever this ’dark logic’ is, I really don’t get it, but I believe you, okay? I’ll keep my respect!"
"Let’s both calm down."
Gao Xin nodded and shifted his consciousness back to the left brain.
He returned to rational thinking, pondered for a mont, and shook his head, "No wonder it’s ’dark logic’, it just can’t be taught."
"Brother, when you get it, you get it, and if you don’t, there’s nothing I can do."
"The Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao; the na that can be nad is not the eternal na."
