The forest had grown eerily quiet, as if nature itself held its breath.

Between two ancient oak trees, reality seed to bend and warp, creating a jagged tear in the very fabric of space.

The rift pulsed with an otherworldly purple light, casting dancing shadows across the moss-covered ground and bathing the surrounding foliage in an ethereal glow.

"Is that a portal?" Mitch whispered, his voice barely audible above the strange humming emanating from the dinsional tear.

Leya’s eyes glead with excitent as she approached the anomaly, her weathered leather boots crunching softly on fallen leaves.

"It’s a hidden ground! Think of it as a dungeon, but temporary; it will collapse after a certain amount of ti or when the boss creature is slain. We absolutely must enter!"

"Isn’t it dangerous?" Mitch asked, mories of their recent life-or-death battles still fresh in his mind. His hand instinctively moved to where his sword would normally rest.

"Everything in this world is dangerous!" Leya laughed, though there was a serious undertone to her words. "But hidden grounds are treasure troves, bountiful loot awaits those brave enough to venture inside. I’ve managed to get into a few of them over the years, and each ti I’ve erged considerably richer."

Mitch nodded reluctantly. "Alright then."

He activated his sense skill, feeling the familiar tingle as his magical perception expanded. The portal radiated a distinct tier 2 mana signature, powerful, but not overwhelmingly so.

The energy felt wild and untad, like a storm barely contained within invisible boundaries.

Without hesitation, Leya stepped through the shimring barrier and vanished instantly, leaving only a brief ripple in the purple light.

Mitch took his ti, approaching the portal with asured steps while continuously probing its mana signature.

The energy felt stable enough, though alien in its composition. He extended his index finger and gently touched the surface of the tear.

The world blinked out of existence.

When his vision cleared, the familiar forest had been replaced by a vast expanse of rolling hills covered in vibrant green grass that seed to shimr with its own inner light.

Scattered across the landscape were peculiar trees with silver bark and crystalline leaves that chid softly in the breeze.

In the far distance, a massive mountain lood against the horizon, its peak shrouded in swirling clouds that pulsed with mana.

"So what now, Leya?" Mitch asked, still marveling at the surreal beauty of this dinsion.

"Now we search for treasure," she replied, her voice carrying the excitent of a seasoned adventurer. "We should find chests guarded by groups of monsters scattered throughout this realm.

Unlike in normal dungeons, where most creatures vanish, here all the creatures’ bodies remain when killed; we can harvest their materials! Oh, and keep an eye out for strange-looking flowers. They’re often high-tier crafting ingredients worth a fortune."

"Understood."

Leya’s expression suddenly grew serious. "One last thing, and this is crucial, the most dangerous aspect of hidden grounds isn’t the monsters. It’s the other treasure seekers like ourselves.

Multiple portals lead to the sa hidden ground, so we’re not alone here. Most of the ti, there’s an unspoken truce between groups, but so people get greedy... and greedy people do terrible things."

"We should be careful then. Let’s go!"

They began their trek toward the distant mountain, Mitch periodically scanning their surroundings with his mana sense.

The air itself seed thick with magical energy, making his skin tingle with each breath.

The first interesting discovery ca in the form of a tree that practically blazed with mana. Its bark had a tallic sheen, and its branches seed to hum with contained power.

"I think this is a tier 2 tree," Mitch observed, running his hand along the surprisingly warm bark.

"Ugh, well, we can’t carry heavy wood with us, it’s practically worthless for us," Leya said, looking disappointed.

"Actually, I can make a sword out of it!" Mitch’s eyes lit up with possibility.

"Inspect," he commanded, focusing his analytical skill on the tree.

[Tier 2 Iron Tree – A tree that has lived for centuries in dense mana, its bark has hardened to the strength of iron while maintaining incredible mana conductivity!]

Mitch activated his [Mana Blade] skill, feeling the familiar sensation as magical energy coalesced into a sharp, glowing edge around his hand.

The skill consud only a negligible amount of mana in its basic form, but when he began aspecting the mana into fire, the energy drain increased significantly, though still manageable, given his expanded mana pool.

The magical blade sliced through the closest branch with moderate effort. The tier 2 wood proved surprisingly resilient, its iron-like density creating sparks as he cut.

He picked up the severed branch and channeled his mana into it, attempting to activate his crafting skill.

The wood seed to drink in his magical energy hungrily as he pushed more and more mana into the transformation process until his reserves were completely depleted.

The branch barely began to shift into anything resembling a sword before the skill failed. It clearly needed far more mana to successfully craft a tier 2 weapon.

Mitch sat cross-legged on the grass, entering a ditative state to regenerate his mana. The process took several minutes, during which Leya kept watch.

Once his reserves were fully restored, he decided to attempt sothing smaller, a knife.

He repeated the process, pouring all his mana into the branch once again. This ti, the skill succeeded.

The wood flowed like liquid tal, reshaping itself into a sleek, perfectly balanced blade with an ergonomic handle.

[Tier 2 Iron Wood Knife – Crafted through magical ans by Mitch, it possesses excellent mana conductivity and exceptional durability!]

Leya stared in amazent. "I can’t believe it, you can do anything!"

"Are you a crafter now?" she asked, genuinely curious.

"Still a mage, I’m just built different," Mitch replied with a cocky grin.

"’I’m just built different,’" Leya mimicked in an exaggerated voice, causing both of them to burst into laughter.

The mont of levity was refreshing after their recent trials.

Mitch crafted two more daggers, one for himself and one for Leya, before carefully cutting another branch to store in his pocket dinsion for future use.

After their impromptu crafting session, they resud their journey toward the mountain.

The landscape gradually changed as they walked, the grass becoming more sparse and the strange trees giving way to scattered boulders and rocky outcroppings.

In the distance, they spotted a flower that seed to pulse with its own inner light. Even without using mana sense, they could see waves of energy radiating from it like heat shimrs.

"That looks expensive," Leya breathed, practically seeing gold coins and monster cores reflected in her eyes.

They approached cautiously, weapons drawn and ready for the inevitable guardian beast. Experience had taught her that valuable magical plants were rarely undefended.

"Inspect," Mitch whispered.

[Tier 2 Bloom Flower – A rare flower that grows only in mana-rich environnts, highly prized as a crafting ingredient.]

Leya crouched down, reaching carefully toward the flower’s stem. Just as her fingers were about to make contact, a massive shadow fell over them.

A huge eagle descended from the sky with terrifying speed, its wingspan easily twelve feet across. Its feathers glead with an oily, dark sheen, and its eyes burned with predatory intelligence.

The creature’s talons were like curved daggers, and its beak could easily punch through armor.

The eagle struck Leya’s back with its claws, sending her tumbling away from the flower. In the sa fluid motion, it snatched her sword with its powerful talons and hurled the weapon far from reach before ascending back into the sky with powerful wingbeats.

"Are you okay?" Mitch called out, readying a spell.

"Yes, just a flesh wound," Leya grimaced, struggling to her feet while drawing her newly crafted knife. Blood seeped through her torn tunic, but the wounds weren’t deep.

Mitch launched a mana ball at the circling predator, but the eagle’s aerial agility made it nearly impossible to hit at such range.

The creature’s mana signature was stronger than the spider or tier 2 goblin they’d faced previously, still tier 2, but at the upper end of that power level.

The eagle folded its wings and dove again, this ti targeting Leya with lethal intent. With only a knife to defend herself, she felt woefully outmatched.

The massive bird plumted toward her like a feathered missile, its razor-sharp beak aid directly at her chest. She raised her knife in a desperate defensive gesture, knowing it would likely be futile.

A brilliant red fireball suddenly exploded against the eagle’s head, courtesy of Leya’s own magical ring. The tier 2 monster was knocked off course, its graceful dive turning into a chaotic tumble as it struggled to regain control.

However, the creature’s wind shield had absorbed most of the impact, only a few feathers caught fire before the magical barrier extinguished them.

The eagle shrieked in rage and climbed higher, preparing for another attack. This ti, it set its sights on Mitch.

He was ready.

As the eagle dove, Mitch tid his counterattack perfectly.

A concentrated mana ball intercepted the creature just as it ca within range. The spell connected solidly with the bird’s left wing, and the weakened wind shield, already damaged by Leya’s fireball, finally shattered under the assault.

The tier 2 eagle plumted to the ground beside Mitch, its left wing completely destroyed in a spray of blood and feathers. The creature writhed in agony, unable to take flight.

Mitch didn’t hesitate. He channeled another mana ball and ended the creature’s suffering with a precise strike to its head.

With the guardian defeated, Mitch imdiately moved to heal Leya’s wounds using his restoration magic. The cuts closed cleanly, leaving only faint scars that would fade with ti.

They quickly gathered their rewards: the precious flower and the eagle’s monster core, which pulsed with contained power.

[Tier 2 Mad Eagle Core – Contains the concentrated essence of a tier 2 aerial predator.]

"I have enough food in my inventory," Mitch mused, looking at the eagle’s corpse. He activated a skill he hadn’t used much recently. "Gather."

The magical ability systematically harvested the most valuable parts of the creature, its remaining feathers, talons, and beak, storing them in his dinsional space for future use. Nothing would go to waste in this dangerous realm.
