Braelyn’s POV
"You are roughly 3 months pregnant Lynn and your body just decided to start showing symptoms.."
Everything went silent. For a mont I just stared at Kyle as I had just heard the biggest joke of my life. Pregnant?
A laugh slipped out of my lips. "That’s not possible. I saw my period a few weeks back. I can’t be 3 months pregnant.." I laughed off
3 whole months. If that was the case it ans I got pregnant the first ti I did it with Lucien. It wasn’t possible. It couldn’t be.
I stared at Kyle laughing hoping he would burst into a laugh and say he was joking but he looked at with a blank expression. He wasn’t lying.
"That’s not impossible Lynn. So won do have so false bleeding during pregnancy and it might be tied to your PCOS." he calmly said and then it finally sank in. He wasn’t lying. I was pregnant.
"From the hospital records, I can see you had so tests done over 2 months ago by Dr lissa Scottfield. I will have to get those results.." he started explaining but the rest of his words just blurred in my ears.
I glanced at Lucien, and he was struck in a way like he couldn’t process what he just heard but also the tension in his shoulders had relaxed. I was pregnant and the father was Lucien.
My chest felt heavy and a sob tore out of before I knew it. The tears were already rolling out and before I knew it I was already wailing. Francesca lted at my cries and just pulled close.
My head rested on her shoulders and tears soaked her expensive clothes. Her hand reached my back and she just rubbed my back while I let everything out.
My emotions were all over the place. While I just sobbed. In the midst of the chaos, I felt Lucien move closer. He didn’t touch but his presence drew closer.
His voice was steady but I could feel the choked emotions in it. "Can we have a scan to be certain?" He said and his hand held my back. "Also I would like to see the dical records," Lucien added. It was funny how he was a trained professional, a forr practising doctor and he went into full panic mode this morning. He completely lost his cool.
Lucien and Kyle beca friends in dical school while they were abroad. From what Kyle told they were more like rivals at first because of their stark personalities. Lucien was always carefree and Kyle was disciplined they weren’t fond of each other because Kyle saw him as a spoilt brat trying to make a statent
But unexpectedly they were both top of their class and this made them work together several tis. That’s when he discovered Lucien was a snake in green grass. The kind of guy who partied before an exam because he had been studying every night all sester.. That sounds exactly like Lucien
All the tests were mostly blood work. A scan would be irrefutable evidence to clear all my doubts. My hand clutched Francesca’s pearls.
"Of course," Kyle answered. " Also I already contacted Dr Scottfield, the results were delayed because of so unforeseen issues. We can speak in my office while the preparations are being made." Kyle calmly replied.
My muffled sobs filled the room. I couldn’t see the expression on Kyle’s face since my head was crooked on Francesca’s shoulder..But I was certain he was smiling.
Lucien tapped my back and leaned down while his other hand linked with mine. He didn’t say anything and just pressed a kiss on my cheek. That gesture carried all the words he wanted to convey.
"I love you Lynn...just wait." He hesitated then added. "This isn’t a dream." He whispered and another cry escaped. He understood, I was afraid this was a dream I might wake up from..
"Please take care of her." He chid in to Francesca. Francesca snorted.
"You don’t have to tell that.." she snickered, waving Lucien off like he was interrupting the mont. A chuckle escaped his lips, it was light. The brightest laugh I have ever heard.
He reluctantly let go of my hand and walked towards the door. He and Kyle said sothing in a low tone, there was sothing Kyle wasn’t saying but I couldn’t care
"Congratulations Braelyn.." Kyle ntioned before they left, leaving Francesca and . After they were gone Francesca just held for a while for my emotions to calm down
Her voice drifted into my ears. "Are you feeling better now?" She asked, rubbing my back. My tears had died off and the cries had turned into hiccups.
"I am fine," I muttered slowly, lifting my head. She dabbed the corners of my eyes with her hankie. "I am so happy it feels surreal.." I admitted.
A gentle smile curled up her lips. "It’s great news. Now I feel guilty. " she sighed and I arched my brow.
"You didn’t do anything wrong."
Her face went ugly. "I made you drink wine while you were pregnant.." she said bitterly. "That’s bad for the baby.."
Her words left dumbfounded and a laugh rang out again. My laughter was feather light. She was feeling guilty for all the events she took to where I had drunk a bit.
"It’s nothing serious. No need to be worried.." but Francesca wasn’t having it.
"It is serious Lynn...I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything had happened to the baby although I still think your taste in n is bad.." she admitted. "Lucien is a piece of work, imagine if it is a boy and he takes after him..."
Her prejudice against Lucien was pretty serious. The thought of a mini Lucien made smile then it struck .
"Why are you certain the father is Lucien?" I blurted out. She didn’t know much about my marital affairs; it was a topic we tactically avoided.
A sly smile curled up her lip.."Dear Braelyn Voss I wasn’t born yesterday. From the way you have been staring at him it is obvious. His only redeeming quality is that he is good looking.." she revealed.. the bitterness in her tone was obvious...
Then her voice got serious.." If you want to be a single mom I fully support you."
Well, I was sure Lucien wouldn’t accept that.
