Braelyn’s POV

"I want to go on leave, so this has to be cleared." I gave the excuse while barely holding myself together. He nodded, then turned back to the docunts. A small frown hung between his brows as he scanned the pages.

My palms were damp as I watched him flip through them. Raphael was ticulous by nature, but even he would not scrutinize every single sheet of a routine monthly report.

On the surface, everything looked ordinary. Just regular financial summaries, my departnt approvals, and standard attachnts that required nothing more than his signature.

I stood there pretending to be calm while my pulse thundered in my ears and my hands were almost dripping with sweat. I tried not to stare at him too intently in case he sensed sothing was off.

He rubbed a hand over his face, exhaustion clear in the slump of his shoulders. "Can I do this later?" he asked quietly. "I want to finish up this docunt tonight." He sounded polite, but I could not take the risk of him doing it later. If he had ti to go through them carefully, the chances of him finding the truth were high.

I forced myself to keep my voice steady. "You can. But I would appreciate it if you handled it now. I want to clear everything before I take leave. Once you are swamped with work, you will never have free ti." I spoke sincerely, acting like I was not really in a hurry even though it was urgent.

His gaze flicked up to at the word leave, but he did not question it. He understood I needed a break with everything that was going on. He simply nodded and uncapped his pen.

"Sit down, Lynn," he said suddenly, gesturing to the chair opposite him.

"I am fine," I replied, remaining where I was. "It will not take long."

He studied for a mont longer, then looked back at the docunts.

The first few pages were harmless. They contained company performance reports, investnt breakdowns, and project approvals. He signed them with practiced efficiency, barely pausing as his signature flowed across the paper.

My heart pounded harder with every stroke of his pen. He was getting closer. I had scattered the two pages of the divorce agreent that required his signature within the reports.

He flipped another page and signed again. I almost allowed myself to breathe. Just a few more sheets and it would be done. Once he signed the divorce agreent buried beneath the report, there would be no going back. The cooling off period would pass quietly, and I would disappear before he realized what he had agreed to.

I felt the shift before I saw it. The room seed to grow colder. A strange stillness settled between us as chills ran up my spine.

Raphael stopped turning the pages. His hand halted on one sheet and my stomach dropped imdiately. Did he find out? My fingers curled as I tried to keep my composure and prepare for whatever ca next.

A low sound escaped him. It was not anger at first. It was a laugh, more like he was genuinely amused at sothing that should not be a joke. He pulled a sheet from the stack and held it up between us, his eyes locking onto mine.

"This is a divorce agreent," he said matter of factly.

My lips parted, then closed. I had nothing to say. Arguing was hopeless now. He had already found out. My silence confird everything. He laughed again, raking his hand through his hair, which had fallen slightly to one side.

"You want to trick into signing a divorce agreent?" he asked softly. His eyes remained calm.

Everything inside froze. The truth was exposed. My fingers dug into my palms until my nails bit into my skin. I had been caught, but I refused to retreat now. Not after coming this far.

"Yes," I said, lifting my chin despite the tremor in my chest. "It is the best thing to do. Give a divorce." I remained composed despite the madness flickering in his eyes.

The amusent vanished from his face.

The chair scraped against the floor as he stood. He rose slowly, the paper still in his hand. "You hid it between company reports," he murmured. "You really thought I would not notice."

I smiled faintly at his words. "It was the only way you would sign. I did not want this drama, and honestly, Raphael, I am tired. It is only right that I step aside for her. I do not want to be a mistress in my own husband’s house." I paused, then added softly, "That child deserves a ho."

His jaw tightened at that.

"You want to leave that badly?" he asked, his voice lower now. There was a dangerous edge to it.

"I already gave up on us, Raphael," I replied. "I just need it on paper. You can keep the shares. I do not really care. Just let go." I pleaded, staring into his eyes.

For a long mont, he said nothing. His eyes searched my face as if looking for hesitation, for doubt, for any crack in my resolve.

His smile widened, but it did not reach his eyes. "You were right about one thing."

He tore the page into pieces, then ripped apart every other docunt he had signed, as if making a statent.

"I would never let you go, not even under pressure," he said. A crazed look appeared in his eyes. "Till death do us part, Lynn."

I gritted my teeth. "I will fight in court if I have to," I threatened.

He waved toward the door. "Be my guest, dear. We both know who has better lawyers. If I wanted to divorce you, I would have when I thought you betrayed , but I did not," he stated.

"I am ready to go to hell if it ans holding on to you."

I shuddered. The look in his eyes told he was not joking.

I glanced down at the torn pieces scattered across the floor. My anger flared. "Aren’t you scared I would kill you just to get away?" I asked coldly.

His expression did not change. "You can try killing ."

The challenge in his tone was obvious. He truly believed I could not do it.
