Braelyn’s POV

The hallway settled into silence after a while. I sat on that spot beside Raphael. He didn’t say anything and just quietly sat down beside .

He seed to have a lot going on in his mind but ultimately chose to stay quiet. Shortly after Alia was wheeled out of her room to the operating theatre. Without a word, we moved to another waiting area.

I didn’t know why I stayed but I did anyway. Ti went by and the theatre lights stayed on. Natalia anxiously waited, whispering a silent prayer the entire ti.

I was surprised she knew how to pray. At tis I felt Raphael’s gaze drift to . He would just stare, his hand would try to reach for mine, and in the end, he stepped.

Shortly after a round of footsteps rushed towards us. From the sounds the person was clearly agitated.

"You little bitch are you proud of yourself?" a voice I wasn’t very familiar with barked at . My head whipped to see the newcor. I had barely gotten a glimpse of her face when a hand ca flying before I could react.

The lady looked sowhat familiar with the sa blonde hair and brown eyes. I was wracking my brains to figure out who she was when the slap ca flying.

Luckily the slap never touched my face. Raphael caught her wrist halfway. The lady’s face was distorted. "Why are you defending her? She tried to murder your child." The woman said agitated

I stood up at the sa ti Natalia stood up but she had no intentions of stepping in. Raphael scoffed and flung her hand. "If I were you I would watch my tongue. Slander and assault are serious cris Mrs Sinclair. " he sneered.

I blinked my eyes as realisation hit . Mrs Sinclair, she was Alia’s mother no wonder she was sowhat familiar. Her daughter took over from her.

I had never t Mrs Sinclair before honestly. She was a socialite, the type who can be in 5 countries in one week. The Sinclair family finances had been slow recently which is why she is around.

Also, Alia’s ties with Raphael were their ticket out of financial ruin and of course being the legal wife was a stumbling block to her part of success.

Her face went pale, she stumbled backwards and was steadied by Mr Sinclair. Alia’s father. Natasha, Raphael’s younger sister arrived at the sa ti looking exhausted

This was now a large family ergency. The only people missing were Olivia and her daughters but luckily she wasn’t in the country. Last I heard she was in Monaco because of so issues with her recently divorced husband who wanted to write off her daughters from his will in place of his new wife, who was the sa age as his youngest daughter

My attention returned to the present, Mrs Sinclair was boiling in so much rage, I wondered if she really cared about Alia or the benefits her daughter brought. Rumours had it that she was too busy travelling to even raise her daughter.

Natalia practically raised Alia.

"Are you threatening ?" She asked in disbelief. "Raphael.." she added in a shaky breath. Raphael didn’t even bat an eyelash.

"Take it however you want. This is a hospital. " Raphael stated. Mrs Sinclair was indignant but after Mr Sinclair whispered sothing into her ears she reluctantly took her seat close to Natalia.

They both started acting like star-crossed best friends. The operation drew, each second longer than the other. The entire ti Raphael was calm. To be fair he was calr than .

"You should head back ho Lynn. You don’t have to stay here and no one can do anything to you even if the baby dies." He said softly just for the 2 of us to hear

I shook my head. I wanted to see this to the end. Seeing my reluctance he went silent.

"Why are they taking so long?" Natasha whispered, her gaze locked on . Sothing malicious flashed before her eyes that made shudder.

I ignored her staring at my hand. Nearly 2 hours and we had no idea what was going on aside from the operation lights were still on. I thought the madness was over but with the Volkovs there is nothing as too much drama

Controlled footsteps echoed down the hallway. It was pretty late and the hospital only had patrolling nurses around making the footsteps stand out.

Instinctively I glanced up as if recognising the footsteps. Not too surprising it was the infamous black sheep. Everyone tensed up while Raphael just smiled although it didn’t reach his eyes. Ronan cursed under his breath annoyed but he was used to Lucien’s tactics

Lucien was dressed in his tux from earlier tonight looking every bit like a polished man if not for the bouquet of white lilies in his hand. I almost laughed, he brought white lilies when Alia was fighting for her life.

He was practically cursing her. Mrs Sinclair sprang out, unable to hold it in. "What do you think you are doing?" She barked pointing a shaky finger at Lucien

Lucien, a master at acting innocent even when literally stabbing you in the front, acted completely oblivious. His frown deepened with a serious look of confusion

"News travels fast, I heard the news. Is it wrong to pay a visit to the mother of the future Volkov heir?" He asked. His gaze turned serious like he was offended. "I am still a mber of this family. "

Ronan’s calm expression cracked at Lucien’s shalessness. Natalia clutched her chest like she might collapse any second now.

Mrs Sinclair was still trembling. She probably never imagined Lucien to be so shaless to this level. "What are you holding?" She barked out

Lucien glanced at his hand, his brows furrowed again. "Flowers," he said as a matter of fact. He was truly impossible to handle. "It’s common courtesy to bring flowers to a hospital but it seems like the patient is still in operation. "

His statent struck Mrs Sinclair, her chest was heaving. She was probably wracking her brains for a retort. Natalia didn’t confront Lucien and just glared. She was aware of his silver tongue from experience

Before Mrs Sinclair could explode the operation lights went off and the door was open. They all montarily forgot Lucien. It was the mont of truth.

My fingers subconsciously curled up.
