Braelyn’s POV

The news of Alia being sent out left with complex feelings. It felt like everything was happening too late. It was his desperation, but honestly, when a glass has been shattered, you can’t hide the cracks.

Raphael left my room that day. He had been coming at night because he thought I couldn’t stand him, and it wasn’t really a lie.

Silence engulfed the room after the door was closed. I was lost in my thoughts, so I reached for my phone and entered Lucien’s DM.

I started typing and deleting, unable to find the right words. I didn’t know why I was so bothered that he didn’t co. A part of felt guilty.

In the end, I couldn’t text him and fell back on the bed staring at the ceiling until sleep finally drew in

********

My recovery was fast. In less than 2 weeks after leaving the coma, I was cleared to leave the hospital. Till the last day, there was no sign of Lucien; a couple of my acquaintances ca to visit . I kept on hoping that he would walk through the door but he never did

It was fine I was the one overthinking things. After all the deal was no feelings involved and he was probably busy keeping up 2 identities

The day of my discharge ca, Genny and Alora ca visiting with cake and balloons. It was a warm gesture.

Alora was busy giggling and eating her cake while Raphael was handling the discharge procedures. We were waiting in my room.

Genny sat beside , her gaze lingered on before she finally spoke. "Sothing is bothering you.." she said as a matter of fact.

I sighed. "Is it that obvious?" I muttered. She nodded..

"Even Alora would notice with the number of tis you have sighed." She ntioned, then glanced at Alora, who was having the ti of her life. I was a bit worried the cake would hurt her stomach.

"What is bothering you?" She nudged my shoulders. "Is it Raphael?" She asked, getting no response from , she then carefully added. "It is Lucien then.." she grinned knowing

I rolled my eyes. "I am just worried why he didn’t visit . It isn’t like him." I said

"Maybe he is busy being a nace.." she sneered. I smiled at her words. It was hilarious how only a few people knew the infamous nace was actually an accomplished businessman.

Lucien Volkov, a man with many faces. Until the end, I could not figure him out. "Maybe.." I muttered.

Genny stood up and glanced at Alora with a glare. "That’s enough cake, young lady..." she snapped at Alora, who gave her puppy eyes that lted my heart.

She didn’t want to stop. Impatient Genny had to walk over to stop her. She was trying to stop Alora when she spoke again. "By the way, why are you so bothered about him?" She asked before adding.

"Don’t tell you really have feelings for Lucien?" Before I could refute footsteps stopped at the door. Genny noticed him first and the quiet door.

"Are you done? We can leave now. " Raphael said. His expression was unreadable; there was no saying if he heard us. He was looking better today, like he finally had a good night’s sleep and shaved.

I nodded then grabbed my phone. "I guess that’s it.." I chid giving Genny a hug before planting a kiss on Alora’s cheeks.

"Thanks for coming. " I chid. Raphael had already carried the rest of my stuff and stepped out of the room. Genny grabbed my hand, her voice lowered as she stared intently.

"Are you sure about this?" She said, glancing at the directions, Raphael left. "I don’t trust him. You can still stay with if you want. " Her eyes told all she had to say.

"I will be fine.." I replied pulling from her hold." I hope so. " I quietly added. Genny stared at until I walked out of the room. Raphael was waiting quietly by the door.

He gave a soft smile. "Thank you for coming with ." He said softly. I scoffed at him. "Don’t think too much about it."

We walked down the hallway quietly without a word. There was this distance around us that we left. I could still feel Raphael’s mood and emotions. My hands clenched. A small confession changes nothing. I told myself

We arrived outside where the car was waiting. The chauffeur quickly took the bag from Raphael and sent it to the booth. Raphael opened the door for to step in

Sothing caught my attention, making stop. My gaze drifted across the road. Raphael noticed too and glanced over. His grip tightened slightly at the door handle, but he remained quiet.

Lucien was standing across the road, leaning on his Aston Martin, staring at . But sothing felt different about him. I didn’t sense the rebellious energy of Lucien Volkov. The air around him was calm, it felt more like Killian Orlov.

I didn’t understand why he was just standing there or why he refused to co closer. Seconds stretched and no one moved.

Raphael’s ringing tune snapped from the daze. His expression changed once he saw the caller ID. My stomach churned as I watched him reluctantly pick up the call.

I glanced over back to Lucien, and he was still standing there. My brows furrowed. I wanted to walk over but sothing felt off.

I felt Raphael grab my shoulders, dragging my attention back to him. He looked troubled and I imdiately knew sothing was off.

"My parents just called." He simply said and that sounded like trouble. "I will take you ho before heading there." He explained.

My brows pulled together. "Do you know why they are calling you?" His lips parted then closed but that’s all I needed to know.

"Let’s start leaving," he said, then glanced at Lucien. "If he wanted to see you, he would have." He hissed.

I sighed then entered the back seat and settled down. "I will follow you to your parents’ place. I want to see it with my eyes," I said, and Raphael was left stunned.

"You don’t have to.." he argued.

"I want to, Raphael..." and that ended the argunt. The car pulled into the road, and we drove past Lucien. I drew in a deep breath to settle my nerves.
