Braelyn’s POV
Raphael froze, stopping mid-step. His shoulders hunched and I could feel the tension oozing from him.
He didn’t turn, but I heard the breath he dragged in a long slow breath before muttering sothing inaudible to . I grin glad I finally struck a nerve. I walked towards him, trying to glance over his shoulder.
"When will you be back?" I asked innocently like I was truly interested. His voice drifted over; it was still calm, but his tone sounded a bit stiff.
"The investors want to go for drinks after the eting." He didn’t look at when he spoke. "So I might return late."
I feigned concern. "That’s bad. Have you told Alia? She would be worried if you stayed out too long." I muttered. Before, whenever he had to drink out late, I always used to call him to remind him not to stay out late. I was worried knowing how those etings could spiral.
He glanced over his shoulder, and his hazel eyes t my calm green ones. I blinked and gave him a sincere smile. "Won’t you be worried?" He asked with this strange expectant gaze.
I quickly shook my head and started acting sensibly. "No, I know this is important for business and besides, you know how to handle your alcohol. Alia would be worried because she is madly in love with you." In other words, ’ you are no longer my problem.’ That was what my self-righteous flawless speech ant.
Raphael chuckled and nodded his head. "You are truly sensible." He praised dryly. "I will be leaving then."
My smile brightened and I even walked him to the door and waved him off. "Perfect them. With you gone there won’t be any problems for my date with Lucien." I said before he got into his car already waiting for him.
That made him look at . His hand stopped at the door, then he glanced at with a smile, carrying a knowing look. "Have fun then," he murmured.
"Oh we will," I answered sweetly.
He stepped into the car back seat without another word, the door shutting behind him before the rcedes drove out disappearing through the gates
I let out a scoff and my lips curling with a smug satisfaction I didn’t bother hiding. I headed back inside, heels clicking sharply on the floor but froze the mont I stepped past the doorway.
Lucien was leaning against a wooden cabinet with a knowing smile. My face burned further, realising he might have overheard .
He stood at a corner, completely out of sight from the foyer or the main entrance, smirking like he had been watching the entire thing.
"Well done, Viper," he drawled. "You played that beautifully. You are a fast learner"
"I am not half as shaless as you are." I snorted at him and he gave an offended look.
"This is what I get for helping." He said pitifully. This cute act on his part was out of character and truly devastating for my heart to watch. He was lethal.
My lips twitched. His cute facade dropped imdiately. He straightened up and backed away from where he was leaning and stalked towards . His intoxicating presence shrouded imdiately
"Where are we going to start on the date you ntioned Braelyn?" He asked and my heart skipped a beat, fear crawling through my spine. He heard all that. He tilted his head, his finger traced a path on my neck leaving a tingling sensation
"In my suggestion, we can start with your bedroom." He drawled and I turned beet red. My ears burned. I imdiately backed away from this succubus before I fell into his trap.
"Stop right there." I burst out shooting him a glare. "You said you wanted to help you with your project and not to flirt." I made sure to put enough distance between us. My every actual amusent amused him.
"You are blushing hard like a virgin after all the gun ...." I panicked that the wall had ears. I jumped towards him then clamped his mouth imdiately. My eyes shot him a glare warning him to keep his mouth shut.
"Lucien, I am begging you, don’t give a heart attack." I reprimanded him in a hushed tone. He bit the back of my palm.
Startled, I tried to back away again. My eyes went wide in shock. Lucien held my wrist, stopping , and his warm mouth covered my finger, sucking it slowly before he withdrew, biting the tip lightly.
My stomach fluttered. I couldn’t stop the critters. I blinked at him, then closed my eyes, mumbling sothing incoherent to calm myself. He left completely flustered
Lucien let go of my hand but I could still feel the warmth of his mouth on that finger. Normally, sothing like this would have disgusted , but I wasn’t.
"You should go set up.... I will join you later." I said, trying to keep my calm, but I ended up stuttering.
"As you wish my lady." He chid, his gaze lingered on before he walked away in the direction of the kitchen. I stumbled away in another direction. I grabbed the stairs rail, reprimanding myself for being so flustered by his blatant flirting attempts, knowing his true intentions were just amusent.
"Get your thoughts together. You have sothing important to do." I cautioned myself and my gaze turned serious imdiately. I stared at the higher floor for a while before climbing up.
I haven’t been here since the day I officially moved down. I walked past my old bedroom and confird it was empty. Alia wasn’t here.
This was my chance. I knew where all the caras were. I just had to be cautious not to arouse any suspicion. After a short walk, I finally arrived at my destination.
I reached out for the door and turned the handle. My eyes lit up, realising it was open. I quickly got inside and made sure to close the door behind
The mont I spotted the closest laptop on the desk, my smile blood. This was going to be easy. Ti to find out what Raphael was hiding.
