Chapter 79: Chapter 79: Truth Sutra
"We’re finally here. Tony, if you want to stay here, you’re welco to leave anyti you want. I’ll give you so pocket money to survive in the capital city."
"Don’t worry mom, I want to stay here with you. Besides, this place isn’t that bad and I think I’ll enjoy staying here with the local folks." answered Tony.
Him and his mother had just entered the Lebelm Village where people here lived simply by farming. There were large farm fields and the farrs were busy there. Tony watched them through the carriage’s window.
Soon, they reached their new ho. A big house constructed from wood, although cheap in material, it was beautiful in design. Two people ca to greet the pair of mother and son, it was an old man and his teenage son.
"Madam Sara, I’ve been expecting you, hope you had a safe trip." said the old man.
"George, thank you again for taking care of this place while we lived in the city, I really appreciate it. Tony, thank George for taking care of this farm." said Sara with a gentle smile.
"Mr George, thank you for taking care of this farm all this ti." said Tony respectfully.
"Hahaha, young lad, it wasn’t that difficult to do my job with the help of my grandson Tom. But little Tony, what’s with the paper bag on your head?" asked George.
"Oh this, I just don’t want people to see my face. Once I take off this paper bag, all the n and young n in Lebelm will definitely hate ." answered Tony. He’d worn the paper bag before they left the house.
"What do you an?" asked George.
"Let
show you." said Tony and took off the paper bag.
"Oh my goodness..." softly muttered George, both him and his grandson had never seen soone so beautiful, it was like they didn’t deserve to gaze at such beauty with their status.
"Little Tony, I now underwent your words. If you were to truly take off your paper bag, many n would be depressed. Anyway, since you’re back, let’s not stop you from unpacking and getting so rest. I’m sure the journey was long. Take care." said George before he left with his grandson who hadn’t said a word since they t him.
"Old George is truly a kind old soul, Tony, let’s unpack and settle down in our new ho, the air in this place is sweet and fresh."
"Okay, let
carry the bags."
...
"A book? Soone actually threw away a book, let’s see, maybe it’s boring." said Li Chen while picking up the book. He was currently at a dumping site where he often found sothing to eat. Although this was a Cultivation World, technology had also been introduced and many people were interested in it.
Li Chen was currently three hundred years old, many of the Li Family mbers had died but he was still alive. He too didn’t know how this was possible but he had a feeling his days were numbered. His appearance was that of an emaciated old man with one foot in the grave.
Li Chen picked up the book, brushed off the dust off of its cover and read the title. Over the years, he’d taught himself how to read and write.
"The Truth Sutra... Is this a Cultivation Technique?!" exclaid Li Chen with shaking hands from excitent but when he rembered that he wasn’t suited for cultivation, this excitent deflated like a balloon.
"There’s no harm in reading so let
check its content to see if it’s valuable or not." he said to himself. He was the only person present in this dump site so he sat down and started to read the book.
[Author Quote:
Neither Power, Talent, Capabilities, Skills can help you Attain True Freedom. Only the Truth Shall Set You Free. Release yourself from your shackles, allow the Truth to guide you.]
It was a very simple quote but once Li Chen finished reading it, it was like his mind was electrocuted because it suddenly exploded. His eyes rolled back as old mories from when he was still an infant replayed in his mind, as an infant, it should have been impossible to recall such mories but he was doing it right now.
The mory was of his mother and father chatting among themselve while Li Chen was placed in his cradle but he wasn’t yet asleep.
...
"I went to test Chen’s cultivation talent." said Li Hao, Li Chen’s father.
"Oh really, and what were the results? With our talent and level of strength, surely we’ve given birth to a tiger." said Li Chen’s mother in excitent.
"I thought so too but the results are very disappointing. Chen doesn’t have cultivation talent, none whatsoever."
"What do you an?"
"Exactly what I just said. Chen is trash, no Spirit Root, No Spirit Soul and no Spirit Body, he’s ordinary. How could I Li Hao, next in line for the patriarch position give birth to a dog!" exclaid Li Hao while slamming his palm on the floor, leaving a palm print.
"Li Hao, don’t be mad. The heavens are fair, with our talent, would the heavens allow our first born baby to also be a cultivation freak?"
"You’re right but I’m afraid I’ll lost the qualifications to inherit the patriarch position."
"Don’t give up just yet, what if we get rid of the baby and co up with an excuse?" said Li Chen’s mother nonchalantly like she was talking about a small issue.
"I’d thought about that too but it won’t work. Father was with
when I tested Chen’s talent and he advised
to not do anything stupid. He doesn’t want
as the patriarch it seems." answered in a nonchalant and slightly disappointed voice.
"That too is fine, let’s make another baby and if he’s talented, he or she won’t have to compete for resources with Little Chen. As for Little Chen, let’s not bother with him after he grows up."
"Mhm." nodded Li Hao.
The mory then ended after this conversation, Li Chen had probably fallen asleep.
...
"Ughh... haa... haa... haa..." Li Chen gasped for air after coming back to his senses, it was like he’d just had a nightmare. A nightmare so scary he wanted to completely forget it. After coming down and digesting the information, tears cascaded down his old, dirty and wrinkled face.
"So... they knew from the beginning yet pretended as if they didn’t. Giving
high hopes, filling my head with dreams and aspirations of being a powerful expert, soaring the skies on my sword, killing the wicked and bringing order to the world." said Li Chen while rembering how hard he worked as a child to make his dreams a reality while his parents supported him.
"They knew and yet said nothing. And they even wanted to kill
just so father could retain his chance to inherit the patriarch position and for mother to retain her face and reputation. If not for grandpa using
as a chess piece, they’d probably have killed . Hahaha, Fate truly is playing a cruel joke on , hahaha! Ahahaha! AHAHAHA!" laughed Li Chen hysterically.
"If only they’d told
the truth. I would have ended my pathetic life right then and there. Since I can’t seek immortality through cultivation, then I’ll seek it through the Truth! Only the Truth Shall Set
Free!" said Li Chen while turning the page to the first Chapter.
BOOOOOM!!!
His mind exploded once again but this ti, it wasn’t because of mories but because of the information flooding his mind and the powerful voice that accompanied it.
[CONGRATULATIONS... INHERITOR... YOU’VE GAINED APPROVAL FROM THE TRUTH SUTRA... SEEK THE TRUTH... OBTAIN IT... AND SET US FREE... ETERNAL GLORY... ETERNAL LIFE... ETERNAL REVERENCE...] said the voice before sealing most of the information in Li Chen’s mind.
Outside his mind, dark clouds had gathered above him and engulfed the whole world in darkness with the only source of light being Li Chen but Li Chen was at the dump site, a place none visited except when dumping trash.
He was seated cross legged atop a pile of garbage, his body emitting a faint glow. The space in front of him cracked slightly and a foreign energy poured into his body or his mind to be exact. Li Chen could feel himself growing stronger at an incredible rate but his Consciousness was too hazy to underland the process.
BOOOOOOM!!!
A pillar of golden light shot through the sky and created a vortex, within that vortex, the silhouette of a woman ford. She had golden hair and skin, holding a scale and had her eyes covered with a cloth. Another silhouette ford and it was that of a man holding a large book.
