67, Knowing Fun (3 more updates)

Xie Zhinuan had no idea what Li Hengyi and Yuanbao were thinking.

After a satisfying lunch and a short rest, she grabbed a hoe and headed to the backyard to turn over the soil and plant vegetables.

There were plenty of things available in Dazhou Kingdom.

Considering the seeds she had bought-pumpkins, cucumbers, tomatoes, chili peppers, loofahs, and eggplants-she had an odd feeling that soone from her era must have transmigrated here before her; otherwise, why would the local diet be so complete? The soy sauce and vinegar were hardly any different from modern tis, the salt was fine and white, and the edible spices were all sorted and readily available for purchase in the stores.

However, these were all things she would have to verify later; for now, she had no way of knowing.

Turning over the soil was not an easy task. That silly girl’s hands were blistered from the work, and Xie Zhinuan didn’t fare much better. None of them were used to manual labor, but fortunately, the plot was small. Pumpkin and loofah, which weren’t too demanding, could just be planted in the corners by the wall. Once the weather cooled down a bit, Xie Zhinuan took the silly girl to pick grayish vegetables again.

The two of them filled their baskets to the brim, and Routuan ran around cheerfully alongside them.

On the way back, Xie Zhinuan encountered old Mrs. Ni.

“Grandma!” Xie Zhinuan called out softly.

Mrs. Ni, with a basket slung over her arm, had slightly reddened eyes. “This is from our hogrown vegetables, I’m bringing so for you!”

“…” Xie Zhinuan hesitated for a mont before accepting the vegetables and handing them to the silly girl. Then she took Mrs. Ni’s arm, “Grandma, would you like to co over to my house for a visit?”

“No, no need, the old man is alone at ho, I should go back and keep him company!” Mrs. Ni said, then added softly to Xie Zhinuan, “Zhinuan, we wronged you!”

They had pushed Xie Zhinuan out for the sake of their son, grandson, and granddaughter.

Now, it was not easy for her to still be willing to call Mrs. Ni ‘grandma’.

“It’s all in the past!” Xie Zhinuan said with a smile, not insisting on detaining Mrs. Ni any longer.

She gently let go of her hand.

Mrs. Ni slowly walked toward her ho.

She was old and having just been through such a worrying ordeal, she seed unsteady on her feet. Xie Zhinuan worried that she might fall.

“Mistress, let’s go ho!” the silly girl called out.

Xie Zhinuan nodded.

Once ho, she didn’t have ti to think about Mrs. Ni and busied herself washing the grayish vegetables, then blanched them in boiling water to dry.

She also thought about the young nobleman’s dinner across the way.

She needed to ask Yuanbao whether he was satisfied with the porridge and cold dishes at noon, and if there were any discomforts after eating.

She didn’t expect that just as she stepped outside, Yuanbao would co over with a basket in hand.

“Miss Xie!”

“Master Yuan, was your master satisfied with his lunch?”

“Miss Xie, just call Yuanbao!”

Xie Zhinuan smiled and nodded, “Alright, then tell , was your master satisfied with his lunch?”

Yuanbao’s eyes lit up with a smile, “Very satisfied, indeed! My master finished the vegetable porridge and even ate all the cold dishes. I ca to ask whether you could make that vegetable porridge again for dinner?”

“Sure, I’ll cook two portions later, one with a bit of minced at added. Your master can’t always eat food without any fat, we’ll take it slow!”

Xie Zhinuan answered so neatly that Yuanbao was extrely pleased.

His manner beca even more enthusiastic and respectful.

Xie Zhinuan asked another question, “Yuanbao, do you have a way to help buy a mule cart? There’s no rush for the mule cart at the mont; we’re still getting things in order at ho. Once everything is set up, I plan to make so food to sell in town!”

Yuanbao was fully supportive.

Xie Zhinuan’s cooking skills were excellent. Once she started to sell her food, he would certainly buy so.

Those fellows, one by one, were eagerly watching Xie Zhinuan’s residence.

“Buying a mule cart isn’t hard, but to buy a good mule and arrange for a cart will take so ti. I can’t get it right away, but leave it to ; I’ll ensure that everything is perfectly handled for Miss Xie!” Yuanbao patted his chest, making a promise.
