Yuanbao escorted Duobao to the fork in the road and handed him the bundle, “Take care on your journey!”
“Yuanbao!” Duobao called out softly.
“Even if you ask, I won’t answer. Many things are not as they seem, whether seen by the eyes or heard by the ears. Only what you experience and verify for yourself is true. Brother, you are my brother, and you always will be. Our grandfather and I both believe you never betrayed us. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself!”
“…” Duobao remained silent.
After thinking for a mont, Yuanbao added, “Brother, take care of yourself!”
He had said everything he wanted to say; how much of it his elder brother would grasp was up to him.
He turned and headed back towards the military camp.
Duobao, mounted on his horse, watched as Yuanbao’s figure gradually disappeared; he took a deep breath, tightened the reins, and spurred his horse forward with a “Giddyup!”
He galloped away at a mad pace.
One day, he, Duobao, would return and stand where he once did.
He would reclaim his pride and dignity.
Yuanbao returned to the military camp looking rather downcast, which Li Hengyi noticed but ignored.
“My lord!” Yuanbao called out softly.
“Hmm?” Li Hengyi responded indifferently, continuing to study the military book in his hands.
With Duobao’s departure, he too began to itch with restlessness.
If it weren’t for the threatening presence of Rong, he would have already returned to Fengping County.
He missed Xie Zhinuan terribly, wondering if she missed him as well…
Li Xi and the others should be nearing the Frontier by now; had she prepared any gifts for him?

“My lord, do you think Miss Xie will take Duobao in?” Yuanbao whispered.
After all, neither of them looked particularly favourably upon the other.
Miss Xie was stubborn and though she appeared gentle, she was not easily fooled. Duobao, on the other hand, was too proud; getting close to Miss Xie, he might unwittingly suffer a great loss.
The foolish girl was by no ans simple.
“With him being such a grown man, does he really need you to worry about him?” Li Hengyi raised an eyebrow.
He snorted, “If by now he still can’t understand his own identity and he causes trouble for Zhinuan, he’s heading down a path towards his own demise; beyond saving indeed!”
“…” Yuanbao pursed his lips and quickly replied, “Yes!”
Indeed.
If Duobao still couldn’t figure out his own identity, then there truly was no hope for him.
Li Hengyi glanced up at Yuanbao with no words, gesturing for him to leave.
Only then did Yuanbao step out of the room to find Jiang Hongyan approaching briskly with a bundle in her hand, “Yuanbao, Yuanbao!”
“Miss Jiang!”
“Yuanbao, I heard your brother is going to Fengping County. Can you help deliver sothing? Where is he?” Jiang Hongyan spoke up.
Ever since learning that the benefactor who had provided the dicine was a woman, Jiang Hongyan personally went into the mountains to find a snow lotus, along with so herbal ingredients only available from Snow Mountain. She had the army doctor process them, intending to have Duobao deliver them.
“He has already set out!”
“What?” Jiang Hongyan exclaid in frustration, stomping her foot, “That guy, I’ll chase after him!”
Her fiery temperant drove her to call for her mount imdiately to go after him.
She rode off in hot pursuit.
Fearing trouble, Yuanbao quickly went to mount his horse and follow.
“Giddyup!” Jiang Hongyan’s horsemanship was certainly remarkable, especially after so ti of syncing with her horse, their rapport was evident.
She rode at breakneck speed, with Yuanbao chasing behind.
They chased from morning till evening, finally catching up to Duobao resting at an inn.
Seeing the two arrive one after the other, Duobao was taken aback, “What brings you both here?”
“I learned that you were heading to Fengping County and prepared so things. Please, trouble yourself to deliver them to Miss Xie, and say they are a token of appreciation from Jiang Hongyan. In a few days, I’ll make another trip into Snow Mountain to find more valuable offerings for her!” Jiang Hongyan said, placing the bundle on the table, “I’m counting on you!”
She was the epito of hearty and generous.
