323: Eavesdropping (3rd Update)
Xie Zhinuan thought carefully, “Actually, the reason our business is doing so well is not due to my efforts alone!”
She imdiately instructed Yin Suwen to check the accounts, as she wanted to reward everyone.
Sleep could wait. First, she would discuss rits and distribute rewards, then she would rest.
“…”
Yin Suwen was surprised but imdiately got up and went off to carry out the task.
After all, the silver belonged to Xie Zhinuan. Whatever she wanted to do with it was just a matter of her saying the word.
Xie Zhinuan wanted to reward everyone, so those whose tasks could be put down were gathering in the courtyard, waiting. Those who had to continue their tasks waited for soone else to receive their bonus and then take over for them before coming themselves.
Xie Zhinuan looked at the crowd with a chest beside her, filled with pieces of silver.
“During the past few days since the opening of the restaurant, in fact, there were many things I did not have ti to look into, yet you all handled them well. As the owner, I’m very reassured and touched. The most profitable item in the restaurant has been the alcohol, but you all have done very well. Serving dishes, pouring water, greeting custors; each of you has been extrely diligent. I haven’t received a single complaint, nor has anyone co to to argue about any lack of attention in your service. This is very good, and you must continue to work hard, to make our restaurant’s business better and better!”
As Xie Zhinuan spoke, she reached for the silver, “So now, everyone co and get your share. Regardless of your role, each person will receive two taels of silver. For those who aren’t here, help bring their share to them, or they can co in person, too!”
Xie Zhinuan handed out the silver, one by one.
The people who received the silver were so happy that their eyes reddened.
Two taels, not just a few wen, not just tens of wen.
“Next are the stewards. You’ve also worked hard, so each of you will get an extra two taels!”
“Finally, the chefs, you will wait for your share of the profits at the end of the month!”
Aside from the money for drinks, don’t underestimate that thirty percent. Each person could receive from several to a hundred taels. Although they didn’t know the total revenue, they roughly understood.
Sounds of laughter erged from the group.
The topic then switched to the marinated at shop. News had co from there stating that the business was so good that they were unable to send money over for the ti being.
“There’s no rush in these next couple of days!” Xie Zhinuan said softly.
She then asked the chefs if they encountered any difficulties while cooking.
The chefs did not hide anything; they shared their problems and insights one by one, discussing and consulting with everyone.
They were determined to make the dishes the best and most delicious.
Xiaoyue peeked from the archway, secretly watching everything.
She knew that Prince Han had left, but she did not know through which route he departed. After being here for several days, she found that although these people had been bought back only a month or so ago, they were extrely loyal to Xie Zhinuan. When asked sothing, they nearly always responded with ‘I don’t know’, and nobody was willing to chat with her idly. Everyone was busy, tending to one task before imdiately tackling another, regardless of whether it was their job or not, with a diligence that was conspicuous.
Shaoniu kept to herself, overseeing all aspects of the restaurant, while Yin Suwen managed the finances. Both were very vigilant. Shaoniu, tall and stout, looked sowhat simple and naïve, but was actually quite shrewd.
Yin Suwen was not very chatty, but her eyes seed to see through everything.
Her brother was studying at the manor; if she could sohow gain leverage over him…
“Xiaoyue, what are you doing here?” Yin Suwen asked softly.
She had just returned from outside.
Having received her bonus, she had gone to buy so fabric to make a coat for Yin Zhe. It was getting colder, and although the owner had instructed to provide everyone with two new sets of clothes, she thought of making a couple of extra coats for her brother to keep him warm.
To her surprise, she found Xiaoyue crouched at the archway, secretly observing the hall.
“I, I…” Xiaoyue stamred, her voice pitifully soft, “I just wanted to ask Sister Xie if I have a bonus too, but I was too afraid to go!”
