212: Scaring (2nd Update)

Lady Xuan’s heart was as bitter as if she had ingested Rhizoma Coptidis.

But with only one son, if she really drove him crazy, she would have no place for regret.

“Get up!”

She reached out to help him up and started talking about the household affairs pertaining to Xu Xuanjin.

Xuan Mu thought for a mont before saying, “I’ll pack up and go look for my cousin then!”

“Let it be for now, you should take good care of yourself first. If you go looking sick and offend His Highness King Jian, the loss will outweigh the gain. Better to recover and then visit after you pass the imperial examination!”

Xuan Mu nodded, “I’ll listen to mother.”

His anxious heart finally settled down.

Since his mother had temporarily refrained from arranging his marriage, he still had ti to look for soone. Before, he didn’t dare to make a big fuss, but now, he could deploy more people to search.

After Lady Xuan left.

Xuan Mu imdiately summoned a servant and instructed him to go next door to gather information, “Be careful and discreet, don’t let too many people know. She is good friends with a girl called Xiangye, find a way to call Xiangye out, I want to ask her myself!”

“I understand!”

Before Xuan Mu had finished making arrangents, Lady Xuan sent the chief maid with a Brocade Box, which Xuan Mu opened to find a stack of silver notes.

“Lady Xuan said, if young master needs silver to handle affairs, take these notes. If it’s not enough, just ask the lady for more!”

Xuan Mu was extrely touched upon hearing this.

Having silver in hand indeed made many things easier to accomplish.

Posthouse

When Xie Zhinuan returned, she called Saini and Yin Suwen to the kitchen, where the three maids from the posthouse also ca over to help. Xie Zhinuan planned to make stead pork with rice flour, simr a pot of porridge, and prepare a few cold dishes to make do for the al.

She scooped a bowl of Spiritual Spring Water into the water tank, then started washing vegetables and cooking.

They say gentlen keep away from the kitchen. Li Hengyi was soone who never entered the kitchen. He was entertaining the three pets outside, tossing play balls that Yuanbao had sohow found, throwing them out, and the pets happily bringing them back.

Leaning on the doorfra, Yuanbao was cracking lon seeds, occasionally drawing in a sharp breath.

Slling the aroma, he knew the water used for cooking today was different.

If he could tell, so could Li Hengyi.

Yet neither master nor servant spoke of it, silently pretending to be unaware.

When Xie Zhinuan ca out, she was holding a ripe, red tomato and offered it to Yuanbao, “Want so?”

“Yes, thank you, Miss Xie!” Yuanbao grinned and took the tomato.

Xie Zhinuan turned and went back to the kitchen to continue her work.

Holding the tomato and about to bite into it, Yuanbao suddenly felt the piercing gaze of an arrow on him, causing a cold sweat to break out along his spine.

He hurriedly looked up and saw Li Hengyi’s deep gaze on him.

Swallowing nervously, he cautiously approached and asked, “My lord, would you like a tomato?”

“Wasn’t it for you?” Li Hengyi said with a mocking tone.

“I don’t really like them!” Yuanbao said softly.

Li Hengyi held out his hand, “Bring water!”

Yuanbao imdiately fetched water for Li Hengyi to wash his hands and respectfully offered the tomato.

Li Hengyi took it and elegantly took a bite.

The tomato was ripe and juicy, sweet and delicious.

Li Hengyi ate it in small bites while the three pets watched him eagerly, also wanting a taste.

Li Hengyi laughed, “Yuanbao, go to the kitchen and check if there are more. If there are, bring out a few. If not, have soone buy them!”

“Yes!”

Yuanbao imdiately went to the kitchen and saw a basket of tomatoes in the corner, “Miss Xie, can we eat these tomatoes freely?”

Xie Zhinuan, stirring the porridge in the pot, said indifferently, “Leave a few for , the rest are up for grabs!”
