Who is it? (2)
“What do you an?” Lucion lifted an inquisitive brow, staring at Hu with a tilted head.
“Oh, isn’t that the word? I an, as a butler, it’s ti for to help you.” The corners of Hu’s mouth deepened.
“How?” asked Lucion.
“I may be unstable, but I’m a monster.” Hu pointed to himself. “There is sothing I didn’t tell you about because before this I had categorized it to be an useless ability.”
“What ability are you talking about?”
Hearing Lucion’s curious tone, Hu shifted slightly as if embarrassed and said, “In addition to the power and the ability to transform, there is one ability related to mory and one that I learned at the banquet.”
“Hmm.” Lucion nodded his head before continuing, “Anything else you haven’t told about?”
“No, there’s nothing else. But the warlock who made said I have the potential of evolving. Perhaps if I evolve, my abilities will increase further.”
‘… Evolution?’ It was an unfamiliar term for Lucion, but now was not the ti to inquire about it.
“What is this ability you haven’t ntioned before?”
“I can recall the mories I have seen today.”
It seed to be an ability similar to that of perfect mory. That explains why Anthony said Hu learned so quickly.
“Since I tried to find a refreshing sweet scent at a banquet, I found out that I can tell the difference between fragrances by slling them. I can rember them for a longer period unlike the ability to rember things which aren’t marked by any sort of sll.”
“Specifically.”
“So, right now, if the paper here slls A, B, and C, then only A can be traced. Simultaneous tracking is not yet possible.”
“You an you can see the sll in your eyes?”
“No, they all sll differently. If I practice, I will know for sure.” Hu looked at Lucion, hoping for a complint inside.
‘Is… Hu a canine kind of monster?’
Lucion fiddled with the mask and calmly accepted the situation. Regardless of the reason, it was certain that Hu’s ability was helpful in the current situation.
“That was a good decision, Hu.”
“Thank you!”
[Is he a canine type monster?] asked Russell cautiously, unable to control his itchy mouth.
“I don’t know either. What is certain is that it was mixed with this and that.” Hu replied with a happy smile.
“Hu.” Lucion called Hu.
“You said it’s the ability to recall the mories you saw today, right?”
“Yes. That’s right.”
In response to Hu’s answer, Lucion briefly thought about the number of doors he had seen.
‘It is not an amount that can be written down within the day.’
First of all, it seed that he had to focus over the most important things first.
Lucion pursed his lips. ‘Let’s see how I use the information you guys have been recklessly collecting.’
This was a place of information.
“Let’s get started.” Lucion gave instructions to Hu.
“I’ll tell you what you should be doing today.”
“Yes. Feel free to tell . I don’t need to sleep.” Hu’s expression looked very happy for soone who was about to be overworked.
Lucion was happy, too.
‘A competent worker is always good.’
Lucion first instructed Hu to look at the Cronia and the Jeven family and rember the sll of their information. He had to look at the whole information, which took so ti anyway.
‘And then I’ll take a quick glance at the information.’ Lucion was happy just thinking about it.
He is very happy right now.
He was able to walk around normally, and he was able to stop by the store and buy things normally.
It may seem ridiculous to others, but the peace that ca after more than a decade was a happiness very precious to him. So he had no intention of forgiving anyone who touched Cronia and tried to take away his happiness.
Lucion looked at Russell while Hu looked at the information related to Cronia.
[What else?] Russell, who looked pitifully at innocent Hu, opened his mouth in response to Lucion’s earnest gaze.
“Can you trace back the darkness of the ruled ghost?”
Lucion, too, knew because he had controlled ghosts.
That the darkness of the warlock exists in the ghosts that are ruled. That darkness was the inherent darkness of a warlock.
[You an you want to find the warlock who ruled over the ghosts?]
“Yes. That’s right.”
Even if he could reign over the ghost that had been ruled, the thod was not what Lucion himself wanted now.
Russell pondered deeply.
Thanks to Lucion’s natural ntal power and Ratta, he grew faster than others, but it had only been about 3 weeks since he beca a Warlock.
“Teacher?” Lucion urged him as he found Russell silently staring at his darkness.
―Ratta can help you with anything. So Russell can tell Lucion anything.
Even Ratta urged Russell.
[It’s possible to trace back…] Russell blurted out the words.
“Then, I want you to teach . The guy who hired the warlock must be the most important guy here.”
Lucion didn’t think he could hold the boss imdiately.
Such a ticulous man’s identity will not be easy to unveil.
However, if they were caught one by one, they would eventually reveal their identity.
He had the patience to beat them up one by one.
[The amount of darkness you currently have is only just enough to learn now.]
“Huh, is that much darkness needed?”
[Of course, you have to use your darkness to get to the place where the warlock is, as the na suggests, but you have to be able to maintain a certain amount of darkness.]
“With the blessing of the divine beast, my amount of darkness doubled.”
[Yes. The amount of darkness increased thanks to the blessing of the divine beast.]
“Well, then… “
[But that’s it. You’re still at the level of a toddler, and your failure to trace back doesn’t just end with your location being discovered. It leads to the pain of being torn apart.]
Russell, unlike usual, did not want to recomnd reverse tracking magic. This magic posed quite a stability issue.
[We can track it down more safely later, let’s wait for Hu’s results for now.]
“If I were to listen to teacher, I would learn it as an experience, as I can’t use anything other than this tracking magic.” Lucion spoke comfortably despite Russell’s warning.
[Experience…?] Russell laughed in vain, amazed at Lucion’s growing casualness.
[If you fail, it’ll be painful…] Russell tried to raise his voice, but stopped himself at the last mont.
Lucion started his morning by eating Ratcho and vomiting blood and then he went to the Great Light Temple with his own feet, how could he give up on this situation now?
[Sigh.] Russell could only sigh deeply. [This bastard. You think you are going to beco resistant to poison at this rate?]
“If there is a way to develop resistance, of course I will.”
The poison-related situation was sothing that Lucion was also worried about.
Poisoning is one of the five pressing reasons why nobles die.
Although rejected for being vicious, poison magic actually existed.
‘In the novel, there was a poison wizard among Lucion’s subordinates.’
At the banquet Lucion confird the villainous characters hidden amongst the nobles, and now he knew of the villains who’ll be making their appearance.
‘I wish I could stop those villains before they could take their villainous route.’ Lucion gave up his thoughts and spoke to Russell. “Teacher, as you know, this is a war of speed. You have to grab the enemy’s neck at once.”
‘So might say I won’t ask for a favor like this again, but I won’t say that even if I die.’
Russell frowned at Lucion’s stubbornness. [Let’s go to the other room first.]
Even if the traceback fails, this place, holding the Cronia naplate, shouldn’t it be avoided?
“Hu. Stay here until I co back.” Lucion ordered Hu to stand by and entered a more appropriate room.
[You don’t have to worry about it, because I’ll stop all your darkness from leaking out.] Russell decided to take control of everything around him to increase Lucion’s success rate.
Ratta ca out of the shadow and looked at Russell with all her attention.
[You know how long it lasts, right, Ratta?]
―Yeah! I know. It’s more possible now than it used to be.
[Probably 30 seconds.]
Russell looked at Lucion.
[It ans that we have to figure it out within that ti.]
“That’s a once-in-a-lifeti opportunity.”
Lucion’s voice died down slightly.
[That’s right. Either way, you only get one chance.]
Russell licked his lips.
[I’m about to show you the ghost domination. Then that’s when it really begins. I’ll tell you what to do.]
* * *
[You have to find the suspicious one. Otherwise, get ready to greet God.]
Crackle.
The dominant ghost bit his nails and rattled around. It was due to the power released by Russell that had hidden Lucion from the ghost.
– You can control a controlled ghost, but no one usually indulges in stupid things like that. A warning goes straight to the warlock. So you….
Lucion rembered what Russell had said in his head, and released the darkness and let it slide like a whip.
– Smack him in the dark. Controlled ghosts Ghosts usually faint by the shock of another darkness.
Slap!
When the controlled ghost ca into the room, Lucion swung his whip and knocked the ghost out.
Russell wanted to praise and shout ‘good job’ but decided against it. From now on, it was a ntal battle.
Seeing the haunting ghost, Lucion recalled what Russell had said.
– Grab the dark form sohow from here. Ratta will assist you as usual, so keep the shape and stick it in the ghost’s chest.
Lucion, thinking of bamboo spears, rolled the darkness round to form a cylindrical shape.
The darkness, which was laughing in a new form, quickly began to spread around, saying it was boring.
‘… Stay still!’ Lucion forced the spreading darkness into a cylinder and clenched his teeth.
Maintaining the form was harder than he thought.
Steam leaked to the point that he felt feverish, the mask doing nothing to minimize the pressure of it.
Lucion pierced a bamboo spear made of darkness into the ghost’s chest before the shapes were further scattered around.
Whoosh!
– The reason you stab near the chest of the ruled ghost is to forcefully connect your darkness with the darkness of other warlocks.
‘It’s connected…’
Lucion began with his fingertips and felt his whole body drawn into that ghost.
– If you are connected, find the true darkness hidden within, rely on your senses.
For a mont, his vision darkened. Lucion felt as if he were trapped in a room with no light.
―It’s been five seconds!
Ratta spoke to him.
Twenty-five seconds left.
Lucion reflexively rolled his eyes, even though he knew he couldn’t see it. He closed his eyes and looked for the darkness, relying on his senses.
As if the bamboo spear he had stabbed had beco a cane, he made a ‘tak-tak’ sound at will.
Tak.
It wasn’t on the left.
Tak.
It wasn’t in the center either.
Tak. Tak.
Looking to the right, the sound grew faster and faster.
‘Find it. Pull up your senses.’
Lucion felt a tingling sensation for a split second.
―27 seconds!
With three seconds left, his heart began to beat faster and faster.
―28 seconds!
Lucion reached for the source of the tingling sensation.
―29 seconds!
He felt sothing on his fingertips.
―30 seconds!
At the sa ti as Ratta’s last words, Lucion pushed his darkness back through his fingertips.
Shhh!
The screen passed in front of his eyes as if the video had been rotated quickly.
‘Here is… ‘
The na of the region ca into his mind at will.
The flickering screen stopped when he saw two people, one wearing a black robe and the other a red robe.
‘The blue thread…?’
The sudden appearance of the blue thread connected themselves to each other.
Lucion moved his eyes again. He had to find the Warlock. His gaze stopped on the head of the person in the black robe.
He could see the darkness flickering.
‘It’s him!’
Lucion noticed that the one wearing the black robe was the warlock who ruled over this ghost.
‘The guy next to him… .’
As the man in the red robe lifted his hood, the warlock turned his head in amazent.
For a mont, it felt as if their eyes t.
Tak.
Just in ti, the darkness that had been connected to the controlled ghost was cut off.
Vision ca back at once, as if what had just happened was a dream.
‘Did you just make eye contact with ?’
Lucion looked at Russell for a report, puzzled.
Poke.
At that mont, he felt a chill coming from behind him.
An unknown word appeared in the air, and soon turned into a blue wave and attacked Lucion.
