Drake went ahead and paid the rental fee for the armor.

Each Arm guard and leg guard went for Ten thousand units, the upper-body armor went for Fifty thousand Credit Units and the cloak went for Twenty thousand Credit Units. As for the Black Scorpion it also went for Ten thousand Credit Units.

All in all Drake had rented the whole set for 120,000 Credit Units.

Now that Drake was not in the academy the currency was Credit Units.

Back in the academy, Drake had tried asking around and found that each 1 Mage point from Alpha academy was worth 1,000 Units. But exchanging Credit Units for Mage points was frowned upon by Alpha Academy. So finding a broker to change the currency for you was a hard endeavor.

Also, most students of Alpha academy would not exchange Mage points for Credit Units. Since getting Mage points was very hard and most of the things they needed as mages could only be found in the academy. And they needed Mage Points to buy anything in the academy.

Drake changed into his new set of armor and every piece fit perfectly.

The all black set was glistening in the lighting. It felt cool and comfortable and the weight was just right.

Drake directly activated the challenge on his Skylink and waited for an opponent.

It did not take too long for an opponent to be chosen.

JULIA SHADOW – Oga Academy!

Choose Battle Zone: ...

Choose Weapon: ...

Drake stared at the opponents na for a second. "Why do I get the feeling I’ve seen that na sowhere before?" he muttered softly to himself.

The Shadow family was the family of one of the Seven Kings of the Empire that was sothing everybody, as long as they weren’t living under a rock knew. Drake was sure he did not know anybody called Julia from the Shadow Clan.

Oh well only one way to find out. Drake shrugged as for the weapons and Battlegrounds, he just selected Random.

...

In the seating area in the Arena, Jeremy was doing so scouting for prospective talents in this years Grand Mage Tournant. He was scrolling through the list of fights when sothing caught his sight. It was a match-up that had just been made.

"Huh, it’s a match-up between the Shadow clans little miss and what’s this guy called? Paragon! Nice na, it’s quite domineering. I wonder why nobody else thought about it until now. And he chose random weapon?" Jeremy was surprised.

The Arena allowed the fighters to bring their own weapons with them. And if they did not have one, you could select one from the list of weapons before the fight.

Normally, every mage had a specific combat style they were most accustod to. And different weapons suited different styles. So mages would usually select weapons that were most suited to their style and rarely would soone select Random weapon when they were given the choice.

"Interesting!" Jeremy smiled.

Jeremy’s family was in the entertainnt industry. Being in the entertainnt industry ant you must have a good eye and good instincts to get the best stuff.

Jeremy had always had good eyes and his instincts never betrayed him. And right now, this fight had piqued his interest. so he started advertising it to his channels.

A young man who was one of Jeremy’s followers received an alert on his Skylink. He imdiately checked and muttered. "Hmm, Jeremy is recomnding a fight? Let’s see. It’s the Shadow family’s young miss versus Paragon?"

Another follower who had also received the alert cursed. "Paragon my foot. He dares to challenge my goddess courting death!"

"Paragon eh. That’s quite the domineering na. Let’s see how you do against the Shadow family’s young miss."

"Humph! It’s just a squabble between kids. Jeremy sure has a lot of free ti in his hands. This is a waste of ti." a follower sowhere snorted and discarded the notification.

Another follower checked the notification and smiled. "It’s a scuffle between kids, but Jeremy has never disappointed. Maybe I’ll just check it out."

This was how there was suddenly a buzz and all kinds of responses were made to Jeremy’s recomndation of the fight.

So ca to watch, so discarded and so decided to just pay attention to the results on the forums.

...

Drake’s opponent appeared and his eyes instantly widened when he saw her.

JULIA SHADOW VS PARAGON

Oga Academy Alpha Academy

"It’s her?" he exclaid.

When he saw who his opponent was, Drake was startled. It was unexpectedly that girl from the Nara clan; the girl that sat behind him during the Mage Academy entrance exams.

Julia Shadow, was one of the leading youngsters of the Shadow family’s younger generation. Her na was written in all CAPS, signifying that she was an elite with extrely high prospects!

All of the elites or well known experts from any of the academies would have their nas presented in such a way: their real na along with their affiliated academy.

This was sothing the Mage Academies did in order to boost their ego and spread the reputation of the academy.

All young mages that had their nas portrayed like this were all extrely talented and it was a given that they would not be ordinary in the future. They definitely had a high chance of advancing to at least 6 star mage after they graduated and entered the military. Thus, everyone took Julia seriously when her na appeared.

Although she appeared to be just another newbie, nobody dared to underestimate her.

Julia picked a pair of Magic short swords as her weapons.

Julia actually didn’t need to be here. She had a spot on the Oga Academy’s team. But today Master Wes, a Master Magic weapon forger from Alpha Academy was watching her. He wanted to observe Julia’s battle and gather information on her in order to create a suitable Magic weapon just for her.

Julia was excited as well. Naturally, this wasn’t just because she was an elite student; her family’s connections had also helped. Master Wes owed her father a favor, which presented itself as a rare opportunity to her. Regardless of who her opponent was today, Julia would definitely display her full strength today.

Drake’s weapon ended up being a short slender saber. The whole saber was no longer than his forearm. His luck wasn’t too bad. If it had been a bow and arrow, he would have had a headache.

This girl that had been cheating off him back in the Mage academy entrance exam, back then had already changed into a valiant soldier now. At this mont, Julia was completely devoid of her usual naughty behavior. It was instead replaced by a completely tranquil expression. She had a sharp gaze as she crossed her two short swords in front of her with an air of aggressiveness.

Drake grinned under his mask. "Alright let’s see what you’re made of." he muttered.

Battle start!

WHOOSH!

Julia imdiately pushed off the ground with her slender long legs and charged forward. Her speed exploded as the distance between them closed.

That’s right, Julia was already activating her magic power. She was not holding anything back from the get go.

’Eyes of Order!’

Drake also did not hesitate to respond in kind. His magic power surged and the sea of stars swirled within his pupils.

...

Na: Julia Shadow

Cultivation Level: 3 Star Mage

Battle Power: 30,000

Affinity: Shadow manipulation

...

All the opponents details were instantly exposed before him.

As Julia headed directly for Drake, she suddenly leaped into the air, spinning wildly in an arc. Her short sword was suddenly slicing towards Drake’s neck.

WHOOSH!

Miss!

At that instant, the whole audience forgot to breathe. Initially many had been dismissive towards the battle. But after seeing that frightening slash and her fierce gaze they felt a chill. And they couldn’t help but say a hidden prayer for Paragon.

Upon noticing that Drake had successfully evaded her attack, Julia did not hesitate as she landed behind him. She imdiately did a backhand slash with her other short sword towards the back of his neck.

WHOOSH!

Drake took a step forward, leading to yet again another miss.

Julia did not let up her assault and her two short swords pierced at Drake’s back.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH WHOOSH!

Julia attacked Drake as she speedily ran circles around him.

If Drake had been any other ordinary mage, he would have already been slashed into a million pieces by her relentless assault. as well as her speed and agility.

Julia had the speed of a Cheetah and the agility of a Jaguar. Her illusory movents made it difficult for one to completely sense or predict where she was and when she would stop or the direction she was moving towards.

A sly smile crept up at the the corner of Drake’s lips. Julia was good he had to admit. She had complete control of her attack frequency and center of gravity. And she could change both at any ti.

She kept making feints and false weaknesses and any brainless fool who dared attacked her would imdiately fall for her trap. This girl was truly amazing.

It had only taken Drake a split second to think all this. However, only this split second of absent-mindedness was enough. Julia detected it and struck.

At that mont she soared into the air, then quickly and viciously bent down and attacked. To the spectators, it seed as if her movents completely violated the laws of inertia. In the blink of an eye, her attack struck.

WHOOSH!

The Short sword pierced over. Yet, there was nothing there but air!?
