Juxing Shopping Mall food stalls.
Jiang Feng’s business was getting better and better.
The Zhajiang noodles were selling especially well. Occasionally, soone looking at the sign would ask, "Boss, what are these Wonton noodles? Never heard of them."
Hearing the custor’s question, Jiang Feng explained, "They are from Guangdong. They have a fresher taste, and the wontons are similar to dumplings, but there are also so differences."
"Dumplings and noodles in the sa bowl? Give a bowl of Zhajiang noodles instead."
"Sure."
Jiang Feng got busy again.
「At this mont, the sound of police sirens suddenly erupted outside the mall.」
Then, five SUVs flashing red and blue lights drove out of the police station courtyard and sped away.
Flashing lights and a wailing siren ant there was an ergency.
Passersby stopped to watch.
"What happened?"
"Who knows?"
"With such a big scene, the person they’re after has probably already run away!"
"Don’t worry, the police aren’t fools. They wouldn’t try to catch people like this; this indicates an ergency."
Everyone was discussing the matter.
The sound of the police siren was also faintly heard inside the Juxing Shopping Mall.
Jiang Feng heard the sound of the siren. But he didn’t pay too much attention. After all, the police headquarters was just across the street, and it was normal for them to dispatch officers.
Everyone was busy with their own affairs.
The Second Criminal Investigation Team had just cracked a major murder case in the past two days. The culprit was caught, and he confessed to the cri. He also admitted that he had killed the girl he had abducted these past few days. But he would not divulge where he had hidden the body.
However, tonight’s interrogation yielded a major breakthrough.
「Soon, the criminal investigation team’s officers arrived at the dilapidated community.」
The officers called the community’s property managent and rushed to the sixth floor. Property managent told the officers that nobody lived on the fifth and sixth floors of that building.
Upon reaching the sixth floor, the officers saw one of the doors showed signs of being opened. They broke it down with force.
In the apartnt, they found the girl, who had fainted from hunger.
Then, the ambulance arrived imdiately. Although the girl was very weak, her bodily functions were normal, and her life was not in danger.
At this mont, all the officers breathed a sigh of relief. The heavy feeling in their hearts finally dissipated sowhat.
For the past few days, the girl’s parents had been crying daily at the police station. The officers couldn’t bear it either. A positive turn of events was always welco.
"Everyone’s worked hard!" Yang Hao, the captain of the Second Criminal Investigation Team, said to the officers.
"We finally found her!"
"Our efforts weren’t wasted!"
"We can get a good night’s sleep tonight!"
"Captain, when’s the celebration?"
Looking at the officers’ smiling faces, Yang Hao promised, "It’s too late tonight. Everyone should rest well first. Friday night, I’ll organize and hold a celebratory feast. This ti our Second Team did a great job!"
Saying this, Yang Hao rembered sothing and added, "Damn, I just rembered those Zhajiang noodles. I didn’t even get to finish them. Those noodles really tasted good. Ma Ran, where did you buy them?"
Hearing this, Ma Ran imdiately replied, "It’s from a stall at the Juxing Shopping Mall; a new Zhajiang noodle shop just opened there. A colleague from the bureau went to eat there and called over."
At this ti, an officer asked, "Can we still make it if we go now?"
Ma Ran glanced at his watch. "It’s nearly eight o’clock. We should make it."
Yang Hao gave the command, "Let’s go, change into casual clothes, and let’s go have so noodles."
Everyone laughed. The atmosphere in the team had been heavy for the past few days. But at this mont, everyone felt relaxed.
The follow-up matters would be taken over by soone from the station.
On the way back, Yang Hao reported the matter to the station’s leaders over the phone.
The culprit was taken back into custody.
The Second Team had completed its tasks.
「At this mont, Jiang Feng was just getting ready to close up his stall.」
Today’s task had been more than completed, with 123 out of 100 custors served.
He received an extra reward: [Chongqing Small Noodle Recipe].
With another new recipe in hand, Jiang Feng was quite content.
Just then, a group of six people arrived at the food stall. Under Ma Ran’s lead, they ca straight to Jiang Feng’s stand.
"Boss, six bowls of Zhajiang noodles, make them large," Ma Ran said to Jiang Feng.
Jiang Feng rembered Ma Ran, who had taken five takeout orders from him earlier. He hadn’t expected them to return for noodles again in less than two hours.
Quite the appetite.
Jiang Feng had no idea what had happened.
He nodded. "Alright, just a mont."
Jiang Feng opened the fridge; inside was the last piece of pork belly. He had planned to take the at ho to cook with it. But since custors had arrived, he would make noodles first. The kitchen at ho was well-stocked, so he wouldn’t miss this one piece.
It was as if this piece of pork belly had been waiting specifically for this group of custors.
Jiang Feng skillfully heated the pan and began stir-frying the sauce. He made a pot of the sauce and boiled a large pot of noodles.
The officers from the Second Team bought a few cold dishes from other food stalls and took out a dozen beers. It seed they planned to drink until they dropped. However, having noodles with beer was quite unusual.
Jiang Feng didn’t give it much thought. He quickly prepared the steaming Zhajiang noodles.
Two young officers imdiately ca over and took the noodles to their table.
Afterward, Jiang Feng started cleaning the stove, preparing to go ho.
As one of the officers took his noodles, he looked at Jiang Feng and said with a smile, "Boss, your noodles were a great help to us today."
Hearing this, Jiang Feng was sowhat taken aback.
"Is that so? Glad I could help," Jiang Feng replied courteously.
The group enjoyed their noodles and the assortnt of cold vegetarian dishes. They ate happily and laughed rrily.
Jiang Feng cleaned up the kitchen, took off his apron, locked the cabinet, put up the "Closed" sign, and then left the food stall area directly.
He was off work.
「Jiang Feng drove along the brightly lit night roads.」
Street lamps and car headlights were bright. So windows in the large building of the city’s Public Security Bureau were still lit. Jiang Feng looked at the building. He thought it was a good place for those who liked to work within the system. But he preferred freedom.
「Jiang Feng eventually arrived back at Longxi Elegant Garden.」
The security guard at the community gate saw him coming, opened the gate, and saluted him as usual.
Jiang Feng parked the car in his garage and then walked from there back to his ho.
Little Black was at the door, wagging his tail to greet him.
"Little Black, let’s go for a run," Jiang Feng called out to Little Black.
The clever little fellow heard Jiang Feng’s voice, imdiately turned and ran off, and soon ca back with a leash in his mouth.
"Wait for to change into so sportswear and sneakers," Jiang Feng told him, then went to his room to change clothes.
Then, leash in hand, he took Little Black for a jog on the community track.
The city lights were bright at night. Looking up, he couldn’t see any stars, only a round moon.
So people were jogging in the community with their dogs.
So people were having drinks and talking big at the snack street.
Others were outside the intensive care unit, tears in their eyes, yet their faces were filled with hope.
All sorts of people made up this world.
Each one unaware of how they might affect soone else.
Tomorrow, I could try making those Chongqing Small Noodles. There should be plenty of people who’d like to eat them. Jiang Feng thought to himself after finishing his run.
