"Miss, you are needed in the main living room," a young maid respectfully inford the young lady who was wilting sitting by the window, unfocused.

When the young lady heard that, she humd in response, without looking at the maid.

The maid didn’t say more but left after getting the response.

Alice sighed dejectedly for the umpteenth ti, feeling not too good about herself.

Until now, she didn’t even understand how things turned out this way.

One second, she was confronting Briar and the next, the other was lying unconscious in the hospital as if she would never wake up.

Even when she knows that she isn’t guilty, how could she claim her innocence when the other took such a drastic thod of dealing with the matter?

What bothered Alice was how cold her family mbers had been towards her. Even after explaining herself to her brother and blurting the truth of what happened years ago, she could tell that Logan didn’t fully believe her, and it hurt her heart.

They didn’t see the pain that Selena was in at that ti. The way she looked betrayed and hurt and yet she couldn’t do anything.

Of course, she understood that she was wrong for not exposing that matter earlier, but did that really matter?

Unfortunately, it did. Even now, her nephew and nieces looked at her as if she was a sinner. They were always at the hospital and, from the way it was going, these people might have forgotten about the banquet tomorrow.

Although Briar did that, it didn’t an that she liked her. She was very manipulative, otherwise, she wouldn’t have done that.

Nonetheless, questioning herself like that wouldn’t do her any good. She might as well go and see what her mother or brother wanted from her this ti.

She had been punished to stay at ho without going anywhere. Even her phone and tablet were confiscated.

Even if she wanted to pour out her grievances and tell her friends, she couldn’t. She was under lockdown.

As she dazedly made her way to the main living room, she just hoped that she wasn’t going to be berated again. Her head was on fire already.

When she arrived monts earlier, she wasn’t surprised to find her mother, her brother and her elder sister Sarah, another busy figure in their family.

She was soone who couldn’t be seen as much as they wanted. Her appearance in the family was scarcer than Logan himself. This almighty lawyer who dealt with all family issues and other big cases was here.

Seeing her at ho, Alice’s heart turned cold.

Was it really that serious?

However, she didn’t dare ask, as she could tell that the expressions of everyone in the room didn’t look particularly good.

It was as if a nuclear bomb had just exploded on one of the family’s secret bases.

She had a foreboding feeling as she sat down.

"Good evening, everyone!" she greeted as soon as she sat down.

As the youngest, she understood her place pretty well. One must respect the elders and all of these people were her elders. So, she lowered her head.

Grunts and hums were her responses; however, she didn’t feel wronged. She wasn’t a fool to tell that there was sothing wrong at the mont.

’Could be it that Briar was dying?’ she shivered at the thought.

If that were the case, then wouldn’t she be in trouble?

She suddenly regretted being impulsive.

Seeing that Alice had joined them, Logan looked at the younger sister, whom he couldn’t hate at all but felt sorry for.

In fact, everyone in the room had complicated feelings after what had just happened a mont ago.

Seeing Alice in the room, they just didn’t know how to deal with the matter. Fortunately, Logan wasn’t soone who liked beating around the bush, so he pushed the dairy towards Alice.

Alice, seeing the diary being pushed towards her, was a bit puzzled and confused as to what her brother wanted to do.

Her face scrunched up but still took the diary.

When she took it, she noticed that there were pages which were folded. In other words, those pages were the emphasis.

Wondering if it was Briar’s diary that had been found, she eagerly opened the diary and started reading.

However, the more she read, the darker her face beca.

’What am I reading?’ that’s all she could about, her eyes wide open as she looked at the dumbfounding words written by a person that she thought she knew.

Seeing her reacting like that, more diaries were sent her way. By the ti she was done reading, Alice was laughing hysterically like a lunatic.

"Hahaha. Is this even real?" she asked as tears pooled around her eyes, looking at everyone in the room for confirmation. And seeing their wry expression, Alice found herself bursting into tears as she clenched her fists.

’Why? Why did that happen? How did it end up that way? Was she so gullible and an idiot to be used like that?’ the more she thought of how she was used and seen in such a way, Alice’s tears continued to stream down her cheeks.

When she thought of how Briar was adamant in denying the accusations, how she was strongly against it, and what she made her do at the end, Alice was overwheld with guilt as she deeply regretted it. But it was too late already.

Briar was lying unconscious in the hospital and they didn’t even know when she would wake up.

Just how wrong she was for her to try to think that death was better than persecution?

Seeing Alice crying aggrievedly like that, the elders who wanted to scold her for a bit and let her look at Briar in a new light didn’t know how to deal with that situation at all.

Logan seeing Alice like that, knew that his job was done. He wasn’t good at coaxing people.

That was sothing that he would leave his mother and sister for.

As for him, he needed to check on the kids and Briar. They must need him right now.

"I will be heading to the hospital now. You deal with her when she is calm!" Logan inford the two of his departure expressionless as he looked at Alice who was still crying.

Madam yer looked at her son and nodded at him, the sadness in her eyes not concealed.

She responded to him, "Go and take care of them and don’t forget that tomorrow there is your banquet. No matter what, you must attend," not forgetting to remind her son, whom she knew must have forgotten all about his birthday.

Upon hearing that, Logan’s brow furrowed for a mont before he nodded, accepting the arrangent.

Seeing that, Madam yer let out a sigh of relief before waving at him to dismiss him.

Logan looked at her one last ti before picking all the diaries, his thoughts unknown.

With the diaries in hand, he excused himself and left the mansion.
