Lin wei frantically tried to reign in the situation.
"Good morning ma’am." She greeted, frantically search Harry’s eyes. Harry had closed his eyes after being squished into a hug.
"Who are you?" The woman, whose na Lin wei learnt was Madeleine Yin, asked coldly.
Gone was the warm smile and fluffy kisses, she turned at an angle where the cara couldn’t possibly catch.
Lin wei who was expecting the sa warmth was shocked.
"My na is_"
Perhaps her na wasn’t important because the woman dismissed her with a wave of her hand.
"Who is she?" Fingers were being pointed in her direction.
Everyone wanted to know who the lady was. To be seen with the Wang twins ant she had to be done sort of hot shot.
Was he their father’s new wife? But eh, nobody could possibly marry Ezekiel Wang. No one was simply good enough.
"She’s Ezekiel’s wife do you think?"
Another gave her a once-over from her curls to her toes. She shook her head.
"I don’t think so. Maybe a nanny? Perhaps a maid?"
"Ezekiel has no nanny!"
Conversations like that continue to circulate. Each one wanting to find out who the mysterious woman was an if they needed to befriend her.
"You know my son?" She dragged forward a chubby boy who looked as if he’d rather be anywhere than here.
"He’s in the sa tier as you." She announced proudly. She glanced briefly at the cara.
The gossip mongers in the crowd were now crowding them, each with one pretense or the other.
It was finally coming on to Lin wei. The ntion of "tier" stirred sothing deep inside her brain. She put two and three together, she’d co to the realization that her speculation was indeed true.
If so, how then did this tier work? That was a question she was going to ask the twins_after this ruckus.
"Stepson." Garry corrected frankly. "He’s your husband’s son, no?"
Lin wei wanted to face palm herself. For a six year old, Garry certainly had no filter.
Madeleine had the situation in hand because she was barely fazed with the frank observation. Instead, she smiled winsoly at him and patted him as one would do for a stray cat.
All this while making sure to give the cara a good angle.
"My husband’s son is my son."
The son looked like he was in anything but agreent.
"I think they need to be in class now." She herded the kids past the crowd and took them inside. Jamming her elbow rudely into soone’s belly.
Serves them right for staying in her way. Unused as she was to this absurdity, she knew one thing.
Allow them to push you done once, and they’ll keep doing it.
With their artificial smiles and malicious eyes, she didn’t want to give anyone liberty.
Only then was she able to breath easier. But she was once again lured into a false sense of relief, because no sooner than she’d bend down to have a conversation with the twins_say sorry perhaps _she was accosted by another woman.
"Excuse miss?" she was friendly looking and her bob swung in the wind.
Lin wei groaned silently.
"I’ll see you guys later okay?"
Harry and Garry went to their respective classes.
She turned with a ready smile and greeted the woman.
"Good morning."
This person_whoever she was_had the good manner to reply her greeting with a warm nod and smile.
"Good morning miss. This is my first ti seeing you here. Are you with the twins?"
It was on the tip Lin wei’s tongue to reply that this was her first ti seeing her too. But she refrained and rely stated at the woman.
Such an odd question to ask, but she supposed these were done odd in this place.
"It is essential for us to know and be sure of each student’s safety. Especially those in tier one." She smiled.
Lin wei hid her confusion well. Was she asking for her identity card or what?
She decided it was ti to get back to the rich heiress act.
"My na is Veronica and I’m..the twins_" the twins whatever she was, she was unable to finish the sentence because Madeleine approached them.
"Hi Mrs Martin. How’s your daughter?" Once again, that graceful look of staring down a stray cat.
Her eyes crinkled at the corner as she smiled.
Mrs Martin sure thinks Madeleine Yin is a goddess in human form. Her grateful look said as much.
But Lin wei saw a sudden flash of cara and had a niggling suspicion. No goddess in human form would have a team of videographers taking videos.
"Did you get the package I sent you?"
"Yes ma’am. Thank you very much ma’am. My husband sends his thanks." She bowed down, almost reaching her waist.
"She’s such a show off," soone scoffed. It was the woman wearing Chanel dress.
She fixed a beady eye stare at Madeleine who was still conversing with Mrs Martin.
Lin wei was tempted to give in and ask the woman if she knew who Madeleine Yin was.
But deeming it necessary to preserve the little thread left of her sanity, she slinked off, grateful that their attention was no longer on her.
She heard bits of conversations float around her as they flailed Madeleine Yin and condemned her.
After getting inside the car, she groaned into the steering wheel. Why did she volunteer to bring the kids to school? She could now see clearly, where Jas complaint stemd from.
She found herself drained and ntally exhausted and she wasn’t even the direct recipient of their attention, yet she was drained.
How was she to continue the rich heiress act if she cannot stand a minute with these rich snobs whose only Joy is bringing other people down to feel better?
Her cell phone rang, drawing her out of her reverie. She glanced at the screen and groaned anew.
It was Ezekiel, the soothsayer of doom. Sohow, even without having hear wha
tever he was going to say, she knew she was in trouble.
"What have you done?" Ezekiel’s voice was cold, it dripped ice.
Lin wei felt her heart dropped into her stomach. God damnit!
