Chapter 34: 34. Let you dominate

Sleep ca easier than I thought it would. In fact I think I practically fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow. And now, it’s a new dawn.

After my morning devotion, the first thing I do is to go check up on the twins.

And it’s not surprising to see that Giovanni is already up and suited. Such a ticulous man.

The twins are still soundly asleep and of course, I take pictures of their incredible sleeping postures.

I wonder who they take after. Does Duke sleep in weird postures like this?

Or could it be their mother?

Now that I think about it, it’s weird that I know nothing about their mother. I never even bothered to ask. Why have I never asked about her? The more I think about it now the more unreasonable, careless and irresponsible it seems.

Shouldn’t that have been the first question I asked him when he offered

this marriage? How co it never crossed my mind to ask.

The more I think about it now, the more it bothers . I’ll ask him today. I won’t let it pass today.

Quickly, I climb up the stairs and for a second I stop and stare at Duke’s room which is right next to mine. He’d definitely still be asleep.

I think of waking him up from his lazy slumber, but then I rethink my decision. I don’t think I’m ready to face a half naked Duke this morning. I’m already overdosed on the image from last night, so yeah, let him sleep in.

With no ti to waste, and lots of work to do thanks to the deal we pulled in yesterday and also to the fact that I am CEO of a business like Harford foods and electronics, I choose an outfit from my closet before going to bathe.

In a matter of minutes, I am cleansed, rinsed, dried, cread and dressed in the lavender-colored three piece suit that I picked. And I’m humming through the entire process.

I style my hair into curls, and they are very bouncy and I must say, I like the bounce.

Six inches black stiletto pump heels to go and a black bag to match.

"And the final touch—" I mutter to myself as I walk over to my bedside shelf and pick up my new glass case. I walk over to the mirror, open the case like I’ve got so kind of precious treasure inside it, gently pull out my glasses and set it where it belongs.

On my face, in front of my eyes.

"Ha, the gold matches the gold emblem on my bag. Who would have thought!" I laugh, putting the case into my bag, as I admire the glasses upon my face.

For so reason... I really don’t know the reason, but I’m feeling rather giddy this morning.

"Oh, I’ll be late staring at these." I giggle to myself in front of the mirror.

Feeling like an alpha female in my crazy heels, I pick up the docunts I was working on yesterday, and walk away from the mirror, only to run right back to readjust the glasses on my nose one more ti before walking out of the room.

But then I rember it’s cold outside so I walk back into the room, quickly run through my closet for a coat and voilà! There is a matching lavender-colored calf-length winter coat here! He really got everything I could ever need, didn’t he?

Finally, I am ready for work.

I should at least tell him I’m leaving for work. Ever since we started working together, I’m always the one waking him up with a knock on the door. It really makes

wonder how he ran the business without bringing it to ruins with his laziness.

I guess I should let him indulge in his laziness for today.

Alan should be here alrea—

"Good morning, Mrs Grand." He says and that scary gaze he had given

on the first night I t him has definitely toned down a bit. He still frowns when he sees , but how do I put it... it’s a nicer frown. I’m really getting used to it now.

It’s a sha if you ask . For soone with handso features like him it’d be nice to see him smile a little. Not that the frown is bad. But he only smiles with the twins, and that is a sha.

"Morning, Mr O’Neil." His frown deepens.

"Please, again, call

Alan." He’s told

this many tis, just as I have told him and Giovanni many tis too, to call

by my na.

"I like to keep a certain hierarchy at work. Calling you by your na breaks that hierarchy, but calling

by mine does not, because I am your subordinate as it stands."

"Well, you like to keep things hierarchical and I like to keep things professional. As long as you keep addressing

in a professional manner, I am instinctively prompted to do the sa."

His frown deepens again, but then after a while he sighs and straightens up his face. "I’m guessing the boss isn’t coming today." He changes the topic. Smart move, we are both stubborn people no one is going to give in for the other.

I nod and his head turns toward the direction of Duke’s room and I can see all the curse words in his head without him even opening his mouth.

"Shall we be on our way then?" He calmly States, "I’ll brief you on the project I’ve been working on as we go."

I leave Giovanni a ssage to pass on to Duke before stepping out of the house.

...

"Urgh," I groan as Alan drives us back ho. It’s been a long day, etings dragged on for like forever. I can’t believe he didn’t call

once throughout. Is he still sleeping or what?

I check my watch and it’s already past six in the evening. To think he didn’t even call to know how my first day without him in the office was going. Hmph! So annoying.

Why am I so annoyed? Maybe I should take a nap. "Mr O’Neil, I’ll just take a quick nap. Wake

up when we get ho."

"Alright." He plainly says with his head facing front. He didn’t even look up at

in the rearview mirror. Seriously this man, tck tsk tsk.

Yeah, let’s just sleep.

...

"Dearest," I hear his voice. What’s happening? Why am I hearing Duke’s voice? Have we reached ho? "Dearest, wake up now." Or is his voice now replaying in my head?

Slowly, I open my eyes and...

A smiley face, a mask... A mask of a smiley face, with hands stretched towards

and head tilted creepily to the side, and my brain quickly goes back to all the Michael Myers, and Screams, and Freddy Krueger and the baby face killer, and every other movie I’ve ever managed to find ti through my busy schedule to watch...

And one thing is certain, standing still is never an option. Running foolishly is out of the question, so what can I do right now?

Fight back!!

"Ahhhhh!!" I finally let fear take over as I swing the bag in my hand, not forgetting to find ti to readjust my glasses. Oh damn I’m using glasses!!! The girl with the glasses always dies!

With this new ford theory cos a stronger determination to fight. "I will not die in your hands!" I scream, and with every word goes a huge hit from my weapon of mass destruction.

My useful handbag.

It’s really coming in handy.

He’s crying out in pain as I hit him and I think he’s telling

to stop, but I’ll be a fool to listen so I just keep hitting him while screaming, kicking and swinging my legs and arms thoughtlessly until he suddenly grabs my leg.

"Uh-uhn, dearest not there." I look at the leg he’s holding and realize where I almost hit.

"Let go of !" I scream and put all my force into my other leg and give a stomp on his chest, he must not have expected that because he finally stumbles away from the door and I waste no ti in flying out of the car.

Right now the only setting my entire body is working with now is the setting that says, run for your life!

But then, belatedly, just as I’m about to take off, my brain processes the words of the killer... he had said dearest... H

H_hadn’t he?

Dear God! My brain finally takes note of my surroundings, and my ears finally open to the tiny voices calling

from a distance, "Mummy."

And I see them standing there outside a fine wooden cozy house on a_ a_ a beach? Is that the ocean I see?! And next to them is Emily, Duke’s mother, and a man is standing next to her. I readjust my glasses with my index finger to stare at the four of them from where I stand.

That must be her husband... aning Duke’s father...

Then this_ I finally turn my attention back to the man whom I just shoved my heel into his chest and— "D_Duke?"

"Dearest," I slap a palm over my mouth as he confirms his identity! "I’m not against you dominating," he slowly rises to his feet and his hand pushes back his hair, at that mont, his hands play on the mask on his face as though he had forgotten it there.

He takes it off and places both his hands above his hips, "I really don’t mind, but give

a heads up next ti. I’ll gladly let you bound

up and stomp on

if that is what you’re into."

Dear God, help

because I just thought my husband was a serial killer! And now, as usual, he’s driving

crazy with his words. Again!
